I think we can compare "iconicness" to the 3rd parties in smash.

Hhmm.. yeah Soap doesn't come close to 'em. Perhaps Bayonetta is debatable buuuuut her name is in the IP's name sooo

are all huge gaming icons and recognized by plenty of people.

if it weren't for bayonetta 2 most people wouldn't have heard of her but she's like not as recognizable as her fellow colleagues Kratos and Dante but she's pretty known.

it bothers me that he's so silent in smash when he's actually quite talkative in the pikmin games

I'm surprised that this is new territory for me. I also haven't seen his wife and kids, if they have ever shown their face.

To be honest, I'm surprised that people really haven't mentioned other Pokemon reps outside of Gardevoir, Incineroar or Decidueye. I think, personally, Rhydon would be a good and interesting fighter.

Okay, dude. It's okay to have different opinions. But your so-called "opinions" somehow always seem to be very, very provocative, as if you're DELIBERATELY TRYING TO PISS US OFF. And that's the definition of trolling.

Firstly, while that isn't the exact definition of trolling we go by, it's fairly similar.

Trolling (intentionally instigating trouble or provoking others through outrageous statements) is not permitted.

Taking all things into consideration, this case is simply a user arguing their opinions (however disagreeable they may be) without actually instigating beyond saying "it would be cool if this happened in my opinion." They didn't call anyone in specific out, nor go far enough to break any other rules (flaming/harrassing/etc.). Regardless, it's not up to anyone to single out users for reasons others than what their actual posts/arguments are.

While no post in particular is most at fault, the most important in this situation remains the same.

If you have a problem with a post/user/whatever, report it instead of replying/taking it into your own hands.

Mods will look into every report/situation. If you want to continue a personal dispute, take things to PMs. Otherwise don't feel the need to reply to absolutely everything you don't see eye to eye with.

Anyways, I know it's not related to Smash, but in other words, Microsoft is giving us a deal for Windows 7 computers. After extended support ends on 2020, Microsoft will release that type called Extended Security Support, which means it will be supported up to 2023. After 2020, you will now have to pay monthly to keep your computer safe, with prices increasing gradually, but not too much.

Great news for Windows 7 users, because obviously Microsoft could have ended support in about 1 and a half year.

In that case what would everyone want to see to replace the codec calls and the guidance thing. I'd like to see The star fox cast tbh.

I don't think Dracula and Simon can work for all fighters given the serious tone of castlevania.

Not sure it’s a good idea to revisit what was causing problems before.

I think if we where to get something else over the codec call or Palutena's Guidance, then I'd like to see something done with the Champions from Breath of the Wild. If not them, then I guess the Squid Sisters would probably work too, especially with DLC.

In regards to the Riddle rumor. Even though a character mainly doesn't debunk a rumor. Scorpion IMO is an exception to this rule. Pretty much any rumor that has him is automatically fake.

1. Mortal Kombat's main gimmick is the brutal violence and finishing moves, it couldn't fly past the radar in Smash unlike Bayonetta.
2. Mortal Kombat is incredibly unpopular in Japan. Only a few people in Japan would actually know he is. If there's going to be a western 3rd party character, it's gotta be someone that's recognizable in Japan like Crash or Banjo(I Think). Lara could qualify as Square has been trying to push her to Japanese gamers(They did a Tomb Raider Pixiv contest and put her in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius).

Eh Scorpion's most iconic fatality is actually really tame.
He just takes his mask off revealing a skull and breathes fire. Just have it work like Bayonetta's where if the victim goes over 100% they instantly lose a stock.

Pretty sure we'll get more. Xenoblade is Nintendo's new golden IP along with Splatoon. Its had two very successful games since Smash 4, and neither of them getting content would be downright strange. Expect at least new music/items/stages, if not a playable fighter (or two).

And I'm really surprised that the Direct still hasn't even been announced. My initial presumption was that it would be aired yesterday evening to give a nice two day gracing period to the disaster, but it looks like it could be 4 days or more.

Not to be a conspiracy theorist but I wonder if the Isaac rumors were true, and the direct is being delayed longer because they're afraid the character's reveal trailer will come across as insensitive if aired too soon after an earth-shaking disaster.

I do wonder if we'll be able to feel that the Blog's schedule has had to be shuffled up a bit, I could see us getting a bunch of characters up until the Direct airs, and then we might go through a bit of a run without character updates for a while. If it airs Thursday they might even have to switch around their planned music reveal for Wednesday, it could take some time before it gets into its usual rhythm again.

We tried that. There's no point in keeping a leak thread when there is literally thousands of them and none of them are entirely convincing. Not even Vergeben is 100% believable.

And then there was the leak group in the Smash For days that got way way WAY too toxic. Trust me. Not having a leak thread is probably for the best.

There is a point. For the people that dont instantly discredit all leaks and that actually analyze them it makes things easier for us to have a thread rather than scroll through thousands of pages to find them. I can see it as you guys dont want one because it causes a lot of controversey and arguments which then you guys have to moderate. I guarantee one of these leaks will come true and it would have been easier to keep track of with a comprehensive thread rather than on a general discussion thread. But nothing i can do. It seems like the mods here are absolute. Ill just keep scrolling, i guess.

But does Sakurai want to have humans with skull heads in his game? I mean, sure, there's Death from Simon's trailer, but that looked more cartoonish, whereas Scorpion looks more realistic, kinda like Snake

Squid Sisters would be kinda cool but also lame because they lack voice acting, so it would be the lazy route. They could go with a number of options if all they have us do is read it. I'm not sure what they'll go with if anything this time around.

Holding out for more Palutena's Guidance personally.

For Nintendo to held back this direct for this long means they are changing or updating the direct. That’s just my theory

What Sakurai thinks isn't a big deal but CERO might be a problem. Which is relatively easy to work around.

I don't even play Call of Duty, but acting like Captain Price and Soap MacTavish aren't iconic game characters just seems like people are putting on Nintendo fan blinders to me. The Modern Warfare subseries was absolutely huge and well-received.

Granted, there are several reasons as to why I don't think either would ever happen in Smash, but "lol CoD only has generic soldiers" definitely isn't one of them.

The NintenZone social is pretty much where the old Smash 4 social ended up. Folks would likely be redirected there.
