Serious question: why have I seen some people acting like Alax is an authority in any way or has any particular insight or knowledge we don't? Isn't he just some guy with a YouTube channel? I've watched his videos and he doesn't seem to be particularly knowledgeable compared to say GameXplain or MatPat, who I also wouldn't expect to know anything more than your average Smashboards user.

Am I missing something?

Frankly I'm here just for having real leaks and info for who will come next in Smash Bros, I am more in needs of hype than really wanting to play Smash Ultimate.

Yes we can. They may take less dev time, but they still take time to make. Echo fighters don’t just pop into existence they have to be made and that still takes time and resources that could be used to make a unique fighter. I’m not saying every echo could be replaced with a unique fighter. But it is reasonable to believe that all the echo fighters could be replaced with one or maybe two extra completely unique fighters, which imo would have been better.

It's moreso that due to his massive subscriber base that he spreads the ideas/leaks to other people, which influences how they think.


Like, imagine if someone his size were to not only talk about, but back up Vergeben. We'd never hear the end of Incineroar.

You can't really say this stuff without knowing the full roster yet.

I mean, before Gematsu, the general consensus of the fanbase was "What's a Shulk". It didn't help that getting a copy of Xenoblade was ridiculously hard either.

Xenoblade was not obscure, at least not in the RPG community, it was THE Wii RPG and I also remember seeing him in a lot of prediction lists back in 2013. Operation Rainfall was also big enough for NoA to notice it so there's that.
Gematsu was just that final nail on the coffin.

Sure, actually getting the game was hard but it was still on most people's radars(and it's not like Europe and Japan had the GameStop problem).

Take out one echo fighter, probably even two, you still don't have a unique fighter because they take less time than a unique fighter.

I'll even give Etika credit - especially if he finished Xenoblade 2 without any help, so that should show you how far we've gone down the list of "good Smash-related content creators".

I still see way more people that don't like the idea of her than do. The only reason I personally feel like people have 'accepted' her as being in is due to Vergeben.

The exact same thing happened with Incineroar where no one would shut up about Decidueye, but as soon as he said Incineroar, suddenly all these Incineroar fans appear from nowhere.

I accepted her because Amiibo Festival actually let her do violent acts, treating them as fun and games. Coincidentally, she also can box in Happy Home Designer(just found that out). Doesn't mean I believe she can be an Echo. She doesn't fit the proportions nor does she has a ton in common with Villager enough to use the same moves. She doesn't make sense to use them to me at all. Pocket, Boxing Gloves, and Fireworks are the only common traits. Not being based upon a similar idea but also having unique items might work fine. But if I wanted an echo, I'd prefer New Villager(using the animal ones) or Tom Nook, as they fell like an actual character who would use the same moves as Villager. Isabelle feels too unique and shoehorned in as a Villager, instead of feeling similar enough or has a good meta reason to be an Echo.

I could care less that Verg said it. I also thought Incineroar was a top contender anyway. I never believed in the whole "must represent another type" bull.

Sure, some people did bandwagon. It happens. But many didn't either.

I think people are going overboard with the echo fighters like people are still asking for like 7 more echo fighters were gonna get like 3 more i feel max cause we already have like alot revealed for this game already

I don't know... while Sakurai did say not to expect too many newcomers, I suspect he might try to add a few more Echo Fighters to bump the number of Smash Ultimate newcomers to compensate for fewer unique newcomers (we have four so far).

If we're talking about Alax, I want to bring up something that really annoyed me.
He claims that he predicted Ridley was going to be in the game on Twitter....
....but in his initial roster video, he made the prediction that Ridley would be a playable boss in a special mode where someone plays as a boss while the other person plays as a normal character.....
.....yet still takes credit for predicting him despite taking a different form from his original prediction( where he became a playable character instead of a playable boss in a special mode).
I still really enjoy Alax's content, but that always bugged me.

I don't care who the **** you are, I will support Dark Pit having a unique moveset until I die.

Dark Samus? Shadow? Ganondorf? Boy have you played Kid Icarus Uprising? There are so many unexplored items to use that can just fit him.

I'm actually a little miffed that the Staff was made into an item (they're KI weapons) because it pretty much eradicates any chance that he could a chance like that in the future.

I generally like PushDustIn and hes usually really good at debunking leaks but these are the same arguments repeated, and they all are pretty week.

1. the lighting is off on the one image.

its an actual photograph, theres no standard for the lighting sayng it must match perfectly with out last few photographs and it literally could be one that was taken at a different day than our first few pics or something and have slightly changed lighting and the picture itself is a blurry shot of a computer screen so i dont think you can use that at all to debunk this.

2. the symbol isn't good.

smash has tons of odd decisions and i agree its a bad symbol but that doesnt make it fake in the least that is total opinion. the issue is just that the music note is negative space, thats it, again its an odd choice but doesnt make it fake.

3.it was posted on 4chan yet its a japanese leak.

we've had real leaks on 4chan before and yes its odd a japanese image would wind up on 4chan... BUT guess where akamai the host webserver for the smash website is located? cambridge massachusetts. guess where these images are supposedly taken from? the akamai host server. A Japanese website is being hosted on an american server (not something many people knew about before these came up and people looked into it) so an american with access to that server leaking stuff on an english speaking western website (4chan) actually makes perfect sense.

I couldnt be more indfferent about getting karate joe or not in smash but i seriously feel the "debunking" here is grasping at straws.
