Here's a challenge for everyone. Try to add one newcomer (or cut veteran) to each of the 27 franchises currently in Smash. You can add whoever you want and it doesn't have to be someone likely to get in. The only rule is that is that the character you choose has to be from a game that's already released. You can't just say "Pokémon from Gen VIII" or "Fire Emblem Switch character".

Hey, anyone remember Battleclash and it’s sequel on the SNES? Was like the main franchise for the super scope. In think Gunpei Yokoi worked on them.

Because giant mechs make weird characters in fighters, anyone think this game series has a chance of making an appearance either via stages, trophies, or assist trophies?

It appears that Starman is the most wanted Pro Wrestkong character with Fghter Hayabusa coming close. The Amazon and Kin Korn Kart were the weakest links.

Next will be something that may or may not be controversial to some: Fire Emblem reps. And I will be going in order of game from the first to the most recent. Your choices are Tiki, Anna, Draug, and Cain/Abel. All from Shadow Dragon.

Not necessarily; a lot of Directs only get announced a day or two before they come out. However, from what I've read, the source for this is questionable (he has a history of making things up), so I don't know how reliable that date is.

If we're only talking just Assist Trophies, there's quite a few I'd like; Waluigi, Midna, Ghirahim, Isabelle, Magnus, and Isaac come to mind.

If Poke Balls and Master Balls are thrown into the equation, Meloetta > everything else.

Well, that's certainly something we've needed for a while. I don't expect too much from this Direct, but getting some more info on Mario Tennis Aces is nice. Admittingly, I've been curious to see what characters get added, since this will be the first spin-off Mario game since Odyssey. That new story mode also has me pumped.

Oh, and we need more amiibo reveals! Perhaps tennis outfit Waluigi?

Now that we have an official announcement, let's keep our expectations reasonable. Which, of course, means to expect Mother 3, Metroid Prime 4, a brand new Smash Bros. game, and Melee HD, and complain online when those expectations aren't met! /s

Honestly, I'm pleasantly surprised that there will be 3DS news; I was concerned that they quietly stopped supporting that console.

Considering that it's Nintendo's only active true handheld system right now, it pretty much has to keep going. Not everyone can afford the more expensive Nintendo Switch after all.

I have a bit of a suspicion that most of what will be talked about is new content for old (relatively speaking) games like Splatoon 2 or Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

We're lucky to only get one Famicom newcomer and it's usually the most popular/iconic ones. I doubt that.

I'd go for Sheriff. It makes the most sense.

Someone like Takamaru or Mach Rider would look out of place if they used just sprites.
