Eh, I'm not worried. I'm a massive Geno supporter, and honestly, I never really took stock in that theory. Of course they're going to post a remix for their biggest franchise, newcomer or not.

Scorpion but that's never happening. Mortal Kombat isn't even popular in Japan nor is Ed Boon friends with Sakurai as Hideo was.

What's next people clamoring for Kratos?

Uhhh… I actually like God of War games and I guess he could work better in Smash than he did in PlayStation All-Stars. I prefer that Kratos in Smash have the design from the original God of War.

It kinda sucks that lack of nepotism might prevent Mortal Kombat characters and Kratos from getting in Smash like Snake did.

I originally thought Geno would be difficult because of Square Enix, but I was recently told that there's really no evidence of that. Plus, Geno was a Mii Costume, so his chances of legal issues are a lot lower than other characters.

Now if there was a character who would be the epitome of defying legal entanglement...

Uhhh… I actually like God of War games and I guess he could work better in Smash than he did in PlayStation All-Stars. I prefer that Kratos in Smash have the design from the original God of War.

Oi I'm a God of War fanboy myself but even I know Kratos or any 1st Party Sony exclusive character has no chance in getting in. You're more likely to see snow falling in the underworld then him or Scorpion getting in.

Because the Paper Mario stage is only 2/3rds actual Paper Mario Music and is only 1/3 good.

Or maybe it doesn't? Hard to say, but I don't think we're in a position where we can say a unique Mario newcomer is practically guaranteed. The only notable Mario characters left are PM and Geno, and it wouldn't suprise me if neither of those two made the cut (which is painful to admit, because I really love the former).

The new remix sounds pretty good, although it's hard to go wrong with a song like that as long as you stay true to the original version. I like the violins.

I think that Gang-Plank Galleon remix set my bar way too high though. I don't know how anything they throw at us now is ever going to top that.

I know, right. It'll be interesting to see what can.

Why does this make you ill? A season pass sounds like Christmas. More Smash content, any way possible, forever. That's the dream. The big Shabang. The cash cow.

Because people will view it as money grabbing and "preplanned DLC". the practice of DLC has become blantantly abusive and with the introduction of loot-boxes/ gachas, and freemium ware has only made the Game Industry even more degenerate. Miyamoto even warned publishers about blatantly making games with DLC on purpose to complete the game. EA is the obvious example here. Of course I am not saying Sakurai mindset is like that; someone who follows his articles can deduce that he's cramming Smash Ultimate, however many people do not follow on Smash stuff will lack knowledge on Sakurai and will have the stigma of DLC / seasonal passes override their thoughts. FF XV is where this happened to me where 1/3 of the game required more money to understand / enjoy.

Smash should be in a good place because it already has too many characters in the roster as is; therefore DLC should be viewed as dessert unless its like a new mode.

While I'd argue it made the most sense for FE's most recognizable entry to get music on the promotional site, it really sucks that we have to wait so long for those sweet, sweet main-series remixes that'll just be Fates and Awakening.

Sora's actually in a similar situation to Banjo & Kazooie, as many people think it's impossible, but someone from Disney clarified that they would be the primary ones to decide, and they'd be open to it, so long as Sakurai and Kingdom Heart's creator wanted it. That was in 2018, whereas Spencer's comments about B&K and their ballot popularity was 2015, so I have a feeling Banjo & Kazooie would be base game, whereas Sora would be DLC. And if DLC has a definite endpoint, what better character for Sora Ltd to pick to end the roster with?

Also, Geno and Banjo & Kazooie share a lot of striking similarities as well--third parties that are heavily associated with Nintendo in the 90s... My hope is that all of these fan-favorite dream characters get in.

To expand on my comment on DLC.

A non- Nintendo gamer buying Smash or any person who do not look into how game development works ( a lot) might question why characters such as Rex & Pyra, Arms, are DLC and may lead them to believing that they were intentionally made to be DLC. Smash having a bloated roster should help reduce this mindset from happening. This mindset definitely kicked in for me for DBZF tho.

So far, each series has gotten a single music theme on the Smash website; I guess, since Donkey Kong's was directly tied to K. Rool, people figure that series without themes on the website (a list that currently includes Pokemon and Xenoblade, among others) have a decent chance of getting a newcomer. (though it's certainly not a guarantee; there's no way that Game & Watch or ROB are getting second characters, and I strongly doubt that we'll see one for Punch-Out)

No it's just an update to their policy. They didn't actually enforce anything new.

At the very least, I do think the odds of us getting a Mario newcomer revealed this month dropped significantly. Nintendo can do whatever they want, but I doubt they'd release back-to-back remixes from the same franchise.

With the exception of Daisy, every newcomer got a remix from their franchise shortly after their reveal.

Ridley got Brinstar Depths the same day he was revealed (assuming each franchise gets one remix, DS would not need one).
Inklings got Bomb Rush Blush the week after Ultimate's reveal.
Simon and Richter got Bloody Tears/Monster Dance the same day they were revealed.
K. Rool got Gang Plank Galleon the week after his reveal.
Chrom got Gear Up For... two weeks after his reveal.

Seems like remixes for certain franchises are held off until a corresponding newcomer is revealed. Take with a fistful of salt, but it's an interesting pattern that does make a lot of sense, especially when you compare how many weeks we have until release and the number of franchises that still don't have a remix.

Probably won't amount to much in the end, but it's fun to theorize.

Kratos in Smash seems Moreno likely than Goku...not weird but still ain’t happening

Why would you assume they’d take out the only Duck Hunt song from Smash 4 due to an Ultimate remix version? We’ve had multiple versions of one song many times in the same game, and Duch Hunt will be no different.
