Damn, that stings man. I feel bad for PS All Stars.

Believe me, I'm not trying to rag on that game TOO hard, I know they tried to get the likes of Crash and Spyro and Cloud. But the game just felt souless and cheap in a lot of areas, I just don't think their heart was in it.

I'm not arguing against the fact that he is popular, but this:

Skull Kid is objectively the most popular remaining Zelda character.

Is not entirely accurate, both because there is no such thing as pure objectivity (which you claim above), and the fact that there are many other chars who surpass him in both popularity and presence.

Objectively, you called Skull Kid the Objective most popular Zelda character "left."
At no point did I say Skull Kid was unpopular; instead, I've continually repeated that he is not the "clear frontrunner" that some of his more eager fans are posting.

Dude... I no longer think your posts are intentionally trolling, but I want to be clear: no one appears to be arguing that Skull Kid is not popular. We are arguing over your incorrect use of language in how you express his popularity. It isn't a big deal, but it makes your points completely innaccurate, which invalidates your arguments entirely. This is not a statement of patronization or attack, in fact its a friendly observation.
That said, at this point, I'm done addressing this argument of Skull Kid, at least as the conversation currently stands.

Though a lot of ideas and mechanics felt like they tried too hard to make it not like Smash.

PS is now literally Kratos's house, whom of which he had to fight for in court... Despite his history...

The issue with Playststion All Star Battle Royale is that Sony doesn't OWN an all star cast, not like Capcom and Nintendo.
Thus, it's likely a crazy amount of cash was put into licensing playstation icons to be used in their crossover game.

Combine that with the heads pushing for advertisement slots instead of icon slots, a team just getting used to platform fighters, and competition from Brawl, and you're basically setting yourself up for failure.

There are some very evident ideas in Playstation All Stars Battle Royale that have made it into Smash Ultimate.
The most basic and obvious is stage morph, which even aesthetically seems to have been ripped straight from PSASBR.
The single player campaigns seem to have taken some ideas as well, such as the slight story and rival aspects, but those will either become more or less prominent as we get more details.
Hazards being toggled, other options, were requested regardless... but I think there are a few more examples of Smash bros learning from PS.

And that is just this one game. It would be difficult to validate, but I'm sure we could find examples from Smash Flash, Project M, and other games, from which Nintendo surely borrowed an idea or two.

I don't even know where to start....
I'll just say I have a large emotional investment in Nathan Drake and teared up a little at the epilogue of Uncharted 4. I also got pretty emotional at K Rool's reveal trailer cuz I ****ing love that guy. Let's not pit PS against Nintendo. They are both wonderful.

The game had a lot of downs but they really work closely with characters' original creators in most times and even brought Parappa's voice actor out of retirement so he can have its iconic voice.
