Another point in the favor of Mortal Kombat:
Nintendo is actively killing off their characters in the trailers. This was easily the biggest mark against a Kombatant in the past. While I expect no decapitations, Scorpion killing Mario is evidently not a big deal.

I've been playing a ton of XB2 and man I hope someone from there or XBCX gets into the base roster.

The blade designs are great.


I know people have been saying that XB2 missed the target for the project plan. But pretending to know what went on behind closed doors comes off as arrogant and presumptuous to me.

What really hope is that if Rex and Pyra are DLC you can switch between Rex, and Pyra, and have Pyra or other Blades fight too in Rex place, like what they're doing for the Torna DLC. I rather not have the blades just stay on the sidelines ala Pokémon Trainer. We know blades can fight, I mean just look at Pyra...

A 500 year nap did nothing, she's still just as strong and skillful as ever, it almost looks like she wasn't even trying

I also hope that there could be other blades to swap between, but I doubt it. If there was though, I would pick:

Mythra: Of course they'll find someway for this to work, seeing how Mythra and Pyra are basically one so that still leaves two more picks.

Roc: Considering he's the third rare blade of the game it's more than likely he'll be one, using the wind element to fight along with his twin scythe as unique weapons.

Zenobia: Who better than a super strong, wind personified, Axe wielding, one woman army, and the games official Boss hunter. She and Rex's axe attacks would extremely powerful but not as quick as his rest weapons,

Praxis: I Iike her bubble-esque design, but more so her lance weapon which looks amazing, along with her ability to control water. Theory would also be a good choice with her katana and ice bending.

I'd personally pick Zenobia, and Praxis out of the three, if only to leave the dual wielding to Elma, plus I like their weapons better.

So, what do you think about having the Blades as swappable playable characters that can take Rex's place in battle?
Also, if you all had to pick two blades from the game to join Rex and Pyra in Smash, who would they be and why?

That is just more playable characters that would have to be made, when such developmental work could be spent on other standalone characters instead, so I absolutely would not want to see that.

Rex/Pyra/Mythra and Spring Man/Ribbon Girl are almost guaranteed for DLC. Not base game, seeing as the roster was decided years before these games were released, but they're too iconic not to be included.

The ESRB leak was quite a sloppy image, and the Rayman fake out was extremely clean.
Yet the former was real and the latter was not.

The ESRB leak was quite a sloppy image, and the Rayman fake out was extremely clean.
Yet the former was real and the latter was not.

The ESRB leak was zoomed out and not blurry to the point where we couldn’t read anything. The Rayman leak was one of a kind because the maker actually put loads of effort to make it seem convincing. Not too many leaks nowadays do.

Burst Grenade.

I don't know the last time I've seen someone using it.

It was a great edge guard, your opponent's hanging on the edge, short hop, use Burst Grenade, free fall onto the edge knocking off the foe, foe gets sucked up by the Grenade, and you either Bair them, or they die from the explosion.

So the fact I can use this move without fear of free fall is a blessing.

My issue with the Geno one was that it was zoomed in, as it would have been nice to see the stage--though the expressiveness through me off (then again, someone posted Geno dabbing, so I don't know what to believe). That being said, while they came out around the same time, I don't think they were made by the same person, especially since there's a vast difference in quality of the models.

The Banjo one (different from the Banjo/Dixie one) had a bit of steam, but was still unequivocally debunked. Wish the Geno one could have that level of consensus.

I know I'm gonna get some griping from this, but I just cannot see Geno and Skull Kid both getting into the game (at this point). It would have made more sense to not announce them both back to back. While both have complete ability to be fully original, there is a thematic similarity between a reanimated doll and a masked puppet. Not just the tropes in movement, but the entire premise of the uncanny valley and the distortion of humanity.
If both were going to get in, I dont think they would be announced so near each other.
But perhaps one will get into the DLC. They would both be fun.

I agree, though I'd be careful. I didn't think K Rool, if he was in, would be announced in the Aug 8th Direct, being the announcement right after E3, with Ridley and K Rool being both large, long-requested villains. I don't know enough about the characters to know how similar they are, but I would be cautious of making that argument.

That being said, in terms of being in the game totally, I've always had my doubts on Skull Kid, Geno always felt like the more likely contender, if you take out any possible Square Enix shenanigans. But I have a bias against Skull Kid and Bandana Waddle Dee as first party newcomers, so I try to throw out those personal objections, and when I do, I see Skull Kid making some sense.

But I could see, reading it over, those similarities being a bit weird, though, I feel like they could play very differently, and that might be the decisive factor for including both, outside of the superficial similarities.

Okay, I think Octolings will be in Smash at some point as Octo Expansion was a massive success for Nintendo and actually exceeded their expectations... I just don’t think timing is in their favor since it was only released after the project plan got finalized, I just don’t see it happening now in all honesty, maybe as DLC.
