Not to sound mean or anything, but we really shouldn't get Black Knight. We already have Roy as a semi-clone and Lucina and Chrom as Echoes. FE has more than enough clone characters, and even if its fanbase wants Black Knight too, I think Sakurai should start looking at other franchises instead of copy and pasting any character with a sword.

To me, Daisy signifies that we may be getting a lot more echoes than we think. She's not really important in anything she's been in, especially when there are plenty of other character that deserve slots (even as Echoes)

To be fair, the exact same thing can be said about Waluigi.

If anything, you could argue Daisy is more important because she was the damsel in distress in Super Mario Land, whereas Waluigi hasn't appeared in any main series Mario game.

Daisy herself was never really hated. It was just the concept of her getting in as some Mario spin-off showcase that was - either because people thought this was a dull idea or because they'd rather have Waluigi instead.

My perspective has always been "she'd be a cool alternate costume for Peach" which is effectively what she is. I don't think there was ever anyone except the Daisy supporters themselves who were really against that idea.

I don't buy that Daisy was included to showcase the spin-offs, because if that were the case, then Waluigi would be a contender as an addition to the roster. Daisy is there because she appeared in Super Mario Land, otherwise we would never see her in the game in any capacity besides as a trophy. What Daisy has that Waluigi doesn't is an appearance in a game that isn't a spin-off.

I also don't think Daisy was ever hated except for a short time after her new voice and redesign in the early-mid 2000s, especially with Mario Kart Double Dash!! which debuted the infamous "HI I'M DAISY." Fans seemed annoyed at first, but came around and accepted her.

I've never played PoR & RD, but just by looking at the Black Knight, even as a kid, he's probably the most interesting. He's different from the rest of the FE cast, and well, I wish I knew him more so he would be in my top 5 list; Fire Emblem could use a villain for once even if the FE cast is too much; granted its not always the villain to get in for the sake of having a villain, but I thought, it'll be more welcoming because of the Black Knight's reputation as the best villain in the series.

After all, villains are more interesting than the heroes.

To be fair, the exact same thing can be said about Waluigi.

If anything, you could argue Daisy is more important because she was the damsel in distress in Super Mario Land, whereas Waluigi hasn't appeared in any main series Mario game.

Except the difference is Daisy is an echo fighter. Waluigi has no possible candidate for this.

Thank you for saying this. Fire Emblem doesn't need any more representation and especially not via more hecking clones. I like clones, but four Marths is just overkill. Like come on, FE should absolutely NOT have the same amount of playable fighters as Mario (If Black Knight does join the battle.) or Pokémon. It just doesn't add up.

Okay but why? I could argue it's just as popular as any of the two when versus each other individually as a franchise, they just have varying demographics.
Mario has the casuals and the kids.
Pokemon has those who are hooked to the series since the 90s.
Fire Emblem has waifupeople and NEETs and the very rare people who just like tactical RPGs.

Richter is a hard guess, I mean it’s very possible it could be fake but im playing it safeish.

I just don’t think 2 Mario reps are getting in the base game (besides Echos). Also Geno has more going for him than paper but I know Paper is popular and feel he has a good shot as dlc.

Surely not in private matches though, right? I'm with banning that kind of stuff in random matches (not everyone wants to take part or they're trying to be competitive) but I'd hope private matches were left alone.

The guy was asking where BK was from. You gave him an answer with "Roy's game" (Binding Blade). He was seemingly content because his question was answered. It's misinformation because you gave someone the wrong info. Sure, Google exists, but why would that guy need to google BK/Tellius if he "knew" that BK was from Binding Blade when his question was answered?

I think the reason why people think that in general is that Villains tend to have goals and drive whereas protagonists react.
In this case, mysterious man in, like a tonne and half of armor kills protagonist's father, protagonist sets out to avenge his old man.

I think we are getting news drops at roughly the same timegaps. E3 happened the middle of June, then we got the August direct a week into August, roughly 6 weeks. I half expect there to be an online direct in 2-3 weeks (middle of September) that will also likely contain smash news, so another 5-6 week gap from the August direcr. Then after that, probably the beginning of November will have a major Smash direct for another 5-6 week gap.

So 2 more directs, one smaller with a decent amount of smash news, and one much larger with the rest of the smash news before the game releases.

Taunt parties are fun but very disruptive. Maybe they could have For Fun as well as For Glory as their usual intended selves, and an Anything Goes mode for that nonsense? Perhaps if you're temporarily banned you'd be restricted to only playing in Anything Goes mode until the ban expires?

I can't see how Lycanroc would be able to lift a barrel or crate without any kind of arm strength though. That kind of dilemma may be negated by the Midnight form's bipedal stature, but the Midday and Dusk forms are pure quadrupeds.

This is the way I picture it:
"Lifting" the crate would have Lycanroc wedging himself under the crate and standing up, supporting the crate on its back.
Walking with the crate will simply have Lycanroc inching forward solely, while balancing the item on its back.
Throwing the crate would involve lifting his back legs to launch the crate forward.

What's this about FE not needing more newcomers "especially" if they're clones? Like, you don't like FE, but you'd rather spend the resources of a full character on one then save most of the work by cloning and spend most of those resources elsewhere? Don't forget that echoes are very fast and easy to implement compared to other characters.

5 unique characters + 3 echoes would not at all be comparable to Pokemon's 9 unique characters, and that's not even factoring in that Pokemon is probably going to get another unique newcomer on top of that.

I wouldn't say purely, but it was a major factor. Like 98%. That 2% though is very important because it allows Sakurai an explanation for why she'd appear. There has never been a playable Smash Bros. character who has never appeared in a main series game. Daisy is very convenient in that regard.

It wasn't the case, Sakurai stated "each player will use 5 consecutive fighters in one battle". Wait... that reminds me, isn't it similar to that one option in one of the Project M mods where it has the option to use All Star, which lets you choose your fighters, maybe up to 5, and playing as them consecutively in one battle? If so, THAT'S FREAKIN AWESOME!!

I sorta want 10 Player Smash, but I don't want people's Switchs' to disintegrate.

It's like Villager, they have little to no personality but the games they're from have a personality in and of themselves. Merely translating Monster Hunter's gameplay over would give a lot to work with.

Bland? Monster Hunter has 14 different weapon types and extremely unique moveset animations (which would likely be utilized in smash if it ever made it in)

Nearly all of its attacks could be from a different weapon type. I'd say Monster Hunter would probably be one of the most unique fighters in Smash if it ever made it in.

You know, James Bond was at one point considered for Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64 (Or Melee, not sure on that detail.) Now as most probably know, James Bond is not a video game character. He was never added to the game and since then it has become a rule that a character must originate from a video game. But what if things didn't go that way? What if James Bond had been added to Smash 64? Perhaps the franchise as we know it would be very different today thanks to the Butterfly Effect of Bond's inclusion as a character not from a video game. Discuss.
