Um....you are conflating a lot of information.

Ivysaur is clearly in it because of the trinity with Pokemon Trainer. Wii Fit is one of the top selling games on the Wii. Robin is an obvious choice if you like the gameplay of Fire Emblem and are tired of the boring, contemporary leads.

I'm not saying Gothitelle is not going to be in the game (though, even if she is, Id argue that the 'leak' is still a guess, given all that is wrong with how it is written).

If we subscribe to the Nintendo tweets meaning something since Daisy randomly got one, then she was in Smash.

I can't help but feel there might be some truth to Mallow also getting in as playable.

A lot of Square purist would be angry, but oh well. It'd be really cool to see the entire cast of Super Mario RPG playable in a game together again and it feels like it'd be something Sakurai might want to do and point out in a future direct.

Link (still a lefty), Zelda <-> Sheik, Ganondorf, Midna, Ghirahim, Impa (naginata), Young Link remade into a transformation character with unique Deku, Goron, and Zora movesets, and Skull Kid. With all four champions as unique DLC.

And each of them getting costumes from the main games and HW.

not trying to be too critical, but even as a fan of Zelda, having both transforming Young Link AND all Champions seems kinda excessive. But i's also related to you having 15 Zelda chars but still no Vaati, one my wanted zelda characters.

Edit: Like seriously, two Gorons would seriously hurt both's uniqueness.

At this point I feel that Three Houses would have to be a massive success and make a lot of Waves to be accepted among those that complain about the FE characters in the roster.

It would have to be on par with Final Fantasy 7 in terms of success for people to accept an 8th Fire Emblem character. Since that level is success is obviously not going to happen, the reception to a character from Three Houses is going to be extremely polarizing. And that's assuming the game itself doesn't end up being polarizing.

According to a Japanese 2016 popularity poll, Gothitelle hovers around the 480 mark. No clue how accurate this poll is assumed to be, and it does predate Gen VII (Volcanion was also excluded from the poll).

They would be easy to pull off, since almost all of them share the same body, is just different skins.
It could be called "Neighbor" or "Animal neighbor", and instead of choosing the colors, you first choose the animal, and then inside that you have the option to choose colors (and each color is a different neighbour)
So for example you chose to be a cat and then you chose Rosie.

Geno fighting the Mechanis from the Xenoblade series would be pretty badass too given their similarities to Smithy's Gang. If Geno's in, I'm hoping for at least one SMRPG boss because there's so many good ones to choose from. Final form Smithy would be downright terrifying in HD, especially if they kept his face changing ability. The Axem Rangers seem like a no brainer too but I'd totally be okay with someone like Bowyer or Yardiovich instead.

I liked Smash For newcomers better, but it's nice people are less salty this time.

Ahhh okay my b lol. It definitely is better, hopefully he can eliminate most of the salt entirely by just adding the characters people want (and he has wanted too) in one swing.

After the likes of Richter, Chrom and Dark Samus is anyone else expecting some more out-there Echoes? I mean, new attacks and properties are apparently fine if Chrom's recovery or Dark Samus's roll animations are any indication. Let's go nuts.

• Celica or Soren over Robin; Celica has self-damage instead of limited uses, Soren uses a dagger from Radiant Dawn because it'd be funny to watch Ike's boyfriend stab dudes
• Black Shadow over Ganondorf clone, but with Falcon's Smash attacks similar to Mega Charizard
• Medusa over Palutena with the remaining custom specials as her attacks
• Dr. Luigi as some ungodly threeway Echo between Doctor, Luigi and Mario. Green Missile and FLUDD?
• Venom Snake as a Snake clone, Rocket Punch replaces Nikita Missile (multi-hit instead of exploding) and Fulton replaces Cypher

Kumatora over Lucas with some Ness properties, Shadow over Sonic with Chaos Control as recovery, and Zack over Cloud with a buff system a la crisis core are a few extra ones I can think of aside from the ones you mentioned

Otherwise, if you consider Star Fox with 4-5 characters total 'overrepped' than you can count it, too. Followed by maybe Metroid.

Ridley was a massive fan favorite in general, with many Smash fans demanding that he make it. Ridley probably did have support despite being a stage hazard, due to how popular he is in general.

don't mix "people wouldn't think they make in" (due to Konami meltdown saga and snake smash 4 MIA) with "no support". Belmont and Castlevania had a good ammount of support, specially in non smash related circles... but until verg, their future was uncertain, mainly due to Konami future being totally uncertain.

Keep in mind that all 4 of these's IP's have not gotten newcomers since Brawl (While Mario and Pokemon still had more reps)

Metroid and DK just got 3 new reps, with potentially Dixie being added as an echo after K. Rool just like Dark Samus was added after Ridley. So a newcomer and an echo each possibly.

Do you think this will happen for Zelda and Kirby?

We know there are rumors that Skull Kid is in the game, and Bandana Dee is a highly requested character. Not only that, but Impa is an ideal echo for Sheik (with some changes) and its possible another Kirby Rep (Dark Meta Knight or something) can be made an echo.


I just think its time for these 2 to also get more reps just like Metroid and DK, especially since Zelda hasn't had a proper, unique newcomer since Melee (Toon link was originally a replacement for Young Link) and Kirby is missing its 4th main character.

I think Dixie Kong is possible, seeing as they revealed Ridley and Dark Samus separately, and Chrom shows that clones can have at least one move and a Final Smash difference from their originals.

Zelda with a newcomer and a clone is possible. I think Skull Kid has a lot going for him, and with characters having designs based off different games, I feel that opens the door for Impa based off her Skyward Sword design to come in as a Sheik clone.

As for Kirby, I don't see the series getting a unique character and a clone. If anything, Kirby could get Bandanna Dee, although I'm not as sold on his chances as many people around here seem to be.

The thing with Simon and Richter is their non-Smash fanbases have very strong overlap with the Smash fanbase and I'm sure Sakurai is away of that.

Also, Bomberman will always have the issue of moveset difficulty. I'd also be surprised if Castlevania as a series is less popular than Bomberman (if anyone has evidence to contrary, chime in) considering it's legacy and recentish mainstream endevours like Lords of Shadow and the Netflix show. Obviously Bomberman has a legacy too, but it's not emulated in new games as much today as Castlevania is.

Simon would always be in the same or higher round of consideration as Bomberman if either were to be considered, and Simon has an easy to envision moveset while Bomberman's (while it could still work) requires a lot more effort.

There's also the assumption of third-parties only getting one character each that hurt Simon's support. And even then, given that Richter's an echo fighter, his situation isn't really comparable to the 4 unique newcomers we have so far, which are all big deals in terms of fan-hype. Richter doesn't exactly mean we're getting something like Dillon or Spring Man in the base roster.

I'm betting we're mostly getting characters that people actually want this time around. No one added except the Inklings were really promotional picks. And even then, they were heavily requested in their own right.

The only "Promotional Character" we might get is a Pokemon.

So, I'd say 60% Ballot, 30% Previosly Considered 10% New/Promotional. Though that in and of itself depends on how much we have yet to see.
