I'm sure I'd get used to the "series appearance" ordering of the CSS, but I'm really hoping they give us the option to sort by series like they have on the main website. Just makes so much more sense that way.

Side note: I would definitely pay for some cool alternate costumes for fighters. Not just colors, but actual, new models.

I have a question. Wasn't Krystal planned to be playable in Brawl? I hear that she got scrapped, and Wolf was put in instead because he was easy to make work in limited time. Can anyone confirm if that is true?

From what I understand she wasn't actually planned, just considered before Wolf was chosen since he was easier to be made. SourceGaming has that Sakurai interview so if you look around there you'll find it.

Apparantly, she is popular in Japan, but I have no real source on this, only peoples saying that she is.

According to the popularity poll that Greninja won a few years back, Gothitelle isn't doing so hot, like it ranked down around the 400s out of the 700ish Pokemon at the time. In this specific situation I'd say Gothitelle's inclusion is warranted due to being the only Gen 5 Pokemon capable of being an easy echo. Like Ivysaur it's inclusion will be based around accurately showing off the Pokemon games instead of just popularity, only with Gens instead of starter Evos.

I really doubt we are not going to ser any Smash info at all for nearly 3 months, when even after the huge info dump of E3 we waited a little less than 2 months.

I think that in the next General Nintendo Direct (probably in September/October) they will have at least a single character reveal.

That seems sadly plausible.

I think we've got all the stages and all the 3rd parties (Geno techinically being a Mario character and all). But with all the stages and menus covered, the next direct will have more time for characters.

And on a different topic, hearing people say Gothitelle is irrelevant and Sakurai wouldn't put in a Pokemon to fill out a quota.

It’s just my theory that all third party characters minus echoes and maybe Geno would be on the back of the box art, just like with Brawl, 4 WI U, and 3DS.

Loz has gotten anything wrong? That was not my impression at all. He's definitely not a fake.

Anyway, November is a logical time for the last big blowout of information; it's very good timing to make a final push to really sell this game for a December release. Since they'll want to get ahead of holiday shopping, early November is most likely if that makes you guys feel better. It wouldn't be surprising to have like a single Smash newcomer reveal in a direct in-between mostly focused on other games, but in terms of big smash specific reveals, this is definitely the logical way for things to be.

If I'm interpreting this correctly, it seems like we won't get a dedicated Smash direct until November, but there could still be a regular Nintendo direct between now and then.

Whooah, if that's true, then I guess my theory on October being the blowout month was wrong, lol. Guess we'll see what happens, all of the games getting release dates recently though are starting to make me doubt there's gonna be a general Direct anytime soon.

Yeah, and it's a safe guess to make. That said, I fully expect the last announcement of a regular direct to catch everyone by surprise by suddenly tying it in to Ultimate.

Let's say for example, that they show a Yarn Yoshi short, implying that they're doing a Switch port for Woolly World. Yoshi has a surprise for Poochy, and prompts him to keep his eyes closed (though he tries to peek, annoying Yoshi). Once Yoshi hollers him, Poochy opens his eyes and sees Yoshi hold a piece of paper with a drawing of the Smash logo on it, to Poochy's joy and surprise.

His source got found out. We didn't find out about Spirits and we got Classic.

I'm seeing some discussion about potential special alternate costumes for each fighter, and I just wanna say that if we do get exactly that, I hope they'll be unlockable, specifically via Classic or All-Star mode so we'll actually get more than just a simple trophy upon completion of those modes with each fighter.

I just looked at the "leak" about the August direct and:

-While the menu was shown, the menu was only revealed at the end of the direct, and the only sub-menu we saw was the multiplayer one, not the option menu like said.
-He said 3 modes will be shown beside All-Star Mode, only 2 new modes were shown and All-Star wasn't hinted at all.
-Tournament mode is back so good one on him but...
-The new mode to unlock character wasn't revealed at all, only teased. (and even then, we don't know if it's the only way to unlock characters)

Tho, I may be reading some lines wrong, so here is the info he showed to be sure.

• The Nintendo Direct will come around August
• Info will be shown from the title screen to the menu options.
• Three modes will be shown besides All-Star Mode.
• Tournament mode is returning.
• The new mode will be revealed and it will be the primary way to unlock characters.

But yeah, he doesn't seem to be as reliable like Verg is at the moment.
