Actually yes. In Mario's case it's his stoic personality that makes the scene more tolerable and for Luigi it's in his character to be in situations like that AND to be shafted (fyi he's my second favorite character of all time). Yoshi has too much of a sweet personality to make death scenes in good taste...

I don't think we are talking enough about how amazing Classic Mode looks this time around. Every character has a unique path with named stages like mini-events which seem to include stipulations like 'food only items'. This will make playing Classic Mode SO MUCH MORE enjoyable as it's not just random enemies, it's actually been thought out to be enjoyable. It'll probably include a whole bunch of fun and classic match ups which just sounds so cool to me. That was almost the most hype moment for the Direct for me.

Also I am convinced "Spirits" is a Subspace like Adventure Mode.

So Mario and Luigi are in a unique position for being killed off. They're very cartoony characters, so it won't be taken too seriously, but aren't "cute" characters so they aren't upsetting to get offed in these trailers. Plus, Mario Bros. are pretty iconic in terms of death and coming back, it's not even treated as that big a deal in the main games (i.e. you don't lose much and there isn't an emotional death/game over screen). They really hit a sweetspot for being perfect punchlines for these trailers not a lot of characters can.

Mega Man fits this well too, and he's a robot so he can just be rebuilt. Based on all this...

Wario could be next?? I could see him being fatally punished for his greed. Donkey Kong could also be okay but he still feels like an 'off' character to kill to me.

Phoenix Wright's trailer involves arresting Wario for some crime he pulled and getting him the death penalty.

And then Geno comes in and vaporizes Waluigi, finishing off all the Bros.

If Geno gets in my life will be complete. Yes, I have played Legacy XP. It's great. Geno's obviously my main. If he had that moveset I wouldn't even mind.

I'll go out on a limb and say a Westerner. Which one, I haven't the faintest clue.

It's an odd bunch.
No seriously, it is super weird. Because Zoda and Black Shadow are the only F-Zero GP Legend villains that really mattered in the story, and not only that, but that specific version of them is in Smash as well. F-Zero canon is wildin' dude.

Jody and Blood Falcon also fit their GP Legend incarnations as well.

Pretty much what happens when the final games in your series are anime tie-ins, the trophy writers have no idea which canon to pull from.

That said, doesn't GP Legend on GBA have its own story?

I'm okay with that just because of the huuuge roster, because Classic Mode being random is what made it very replayable.

But since there are so many, you can just choose a fun path and replay it now.

I don't know who you're talking to, but he would most certainly Geno Whirl Wario, and he would most definitely not harm an ally.

That said, doesn't GP Legend on GBA have its own story?

The GP Legend games is the original story, the GP Legend anime is a tie-in with differences to what eventually happened in Climax.

Spoiler: actual spoilers

For instance, instead of the anime where Falcon died, he and Black Shadow lived in Climax and that's where Falcon adopted the Berserker personality.

A bit late to the party, but hoo. boy, that direct was something!

Simon: Well, well, well, good to see some Castlevania representation. He looks way more fun to use than I thought.
Richter: Can't really say much about him. Pretty surprised that we have 2 Castlevania characters, though.
Also, poor Luigi. It's bad enough for him to go through haunted mansions, but to end up in Dracula's Castle and meet Death himself? Sheesh...
Chrom: Hey, he finally got his chance! I'm happy for all the Chrom fans after what happened back in 4.
Dark Samus: HECK YES. Another one of my most wanted characters made it! Sure, she's an echo, but at least it's something!
King K. Rool: Holy moly, I was NOT expecting him so soon after Ridley. He's everything that I wanted him to be. It's great to to see him in action again after him being MIA for 10 years. (Also, King Dedede is a trollish jerk and I love him for that.)
Assist Trophies/Pokémon: Rathalos is freaking AMAZING. I love some Monster Hunter content. Also, sorry for all the Shovel Knight, Zero, Mimikyu and Ashley fans... Shadow, Isabelle, Isaac, Skull Kid, Ray MK III and Dillon are still missing, though... Hopefully that means they have a chance as playable characters. (Especially Isaac.)

Just watched the Smash direct... and I’ve got no words. K. Rool in Smash is a reality. I can die fulfilled now. Thank god I didn’t hear any spoilers...

Also I’m so glad that I also got Chrom, Dark Samus and Simon right! Though there was no way anyone could’ve predicted Richter as an echo...

And thank goodness that none of the Poke/Assist disconfirmations affected some of my most wanted characters(Skull Kid still lives on!)... with that said I feel bad for Ashley and Mimikyu supporters...

And I’m pretty sure that the blurred mode in the main menu (the one in green) is the big new single player mode this time around...

Now, with K. Rool finally in, I still have hopes for the other newcomers in my sig, but I’m more than satisfied with the Krem King!

And btw, Dracula’s Castle looks awesome, as long as the hazards are turned off...
