AT reveals are what I’m dreading most of all. I can psych myself up as much as I want, but seeing another one of my favorites pop out of that God-forsaken trophy would be just as heartcrushing as purple boi.

I'm going to see if I can use my "approximate fortune telling" to ballpark guess some parts about the Smash Direct.
I will give more if asked, lol. But this is just for fun.

• There will (probably) be an assist trophy reveal that isn't actually upsetting.
• The direct will start with a newcomer reveal (hype) and end with another (more hype) or playable demo dates (best timeline)
• There will absolutely be something revealed that nobody has been speculating about. I'm 100% sure of this one- mostly because you all talk about the same 5 things over and over again.
• Be prepared for Sakurai to birth a new meme.
• Single Player will be touched on, and it will actually be interesting. But also Smash Run might come back.

Disclaimer: These are just my guesses, for fun, because I ended up "approximately predicting" the Smash Direct announcement. I wanna see if I can keep this "nearly had it" streak going haha. I got infracted for the fake leak I made a few days ago.

Also, these seem like safe guesses because they are.

These sound reasonable. I’m excited to see what’s gonna come out of this. Half of me wants to know it and the other half is scared to get disappointed...

I’m expecting Ashley and Isabelle here. Considering the E3 direct was very Western-friendly (because Ridley) I can see them focusing on Japan favorites this round...but the direct is so late over there...

King K Rool would be great and he has worldwide popularity, but I think they’d prefer to hold him until just before release to drum up sales. But Nintendo does do questionable things...

Also, we’ve got 7 third party veterans, with no third party newcomers announced at E3. A third party wouldn’t be out of the question. Simon seems most likely there, but they could try to throw us and give us Steve. Of course, I’d hope we’re living in the one universe where Dovahkiin gets announced, but of all unlikely scenarios that one seems to have a particularly low chance. Still, I’d be hyped beyond beleif. I’m praying hard...

What I’m predicting:

• Possibly start with a character reveal.
• Show off the amiibo for some of the other characters, e.g. Pichu/Young Link/Ice Climbers/Pokémon Trainer
• Show some adventure-esque mode
• Tell us that the Classic classic and all-star are back. All-star most likely sorts by number.
• Some stadium stuff is briefly shown, e.g. home run contest, target test (I’m expecting Brawl style), multi man.
• At least one brand new stage
• We’ll find out another returning stage based on the background of something they show
• Another round of assist characters and pokéballs, including some high profile disconfirmations like Mimikyu
• Another echo
• Smash run HD!
• And close with a character trailer. If there’s a third party, it’s this one.

I too hated the idea of Bayonetta of being in Smash pre WiiU/3DS because of how horribly she clashed with the Nintendo vibe.

Because you used "in some capacity" yours is actually one of the more realistic bingo cards, because other cards that list multiple playable characters getting revealed aren't very likely...

You say that like you think the aim for a Bingo card is to get all spaces filled.

Just because a Bingo card has multiple characters on it, it doesn't mean the maker of the card thinks all of them will be revealed, it's more "it could be any one of these guys".

My Bingo Card has character names on it (specifically: Isaac, Isabelle, Simon Belmont and Geno), but having them on there doesn't necessarily mean I expect them to be playable. Even if they are revealed as Assist Trophies, I can still technically fill the spot in because... all I said was that they'd be in the Direct.

It occurs to me that, if we wanted this to be like an actual game of Bingo, we'd create a pool of... say... 35 entries to put onto the cards, then randomly generate cards for each user who's playing, each one having a randomly placed selection of 24 of the 35 entries.

...Eh, it's probably too much effort.

Here are my realistic hopes for the Direct in no particular order:

1. Sakurai memes
2. Smash Run (never played it, only had WiiU version)
3. Fountain of Dreams or Poke Floats confirmed
4. Playable demo
5. No new FE characters
6. At least one newcomer, echo or otherwise, though I honestly doubt we get any
7. Some sort of Sakurai-based clarification on what is and isn't an echo so we can stop arguing about interpreting it like it's the Constitution

How are those two statements that different? They are basically the same, except one is about an individual character someone loves and wants to be immortalized and the other is a series someone loves and wants to be immortalized.

Pretty much someone who says they wants "another DK rep" is because they love the DK series and would be happy to have a number of characters from said series on the roster. Or if someone said they wanted an "ARMS rep" it's because they love that game and would accept any one of those characters to represent that game.

Yeah, well I was trying to say that it's best to hope for something not to just fill some arbitrary quota.

I didn't wanna call anyone specifically out on it but I was reffering to someone who had multiple characters with either revealed as playable or echo on the spot, meaning there would be only one way for it to be correct. And yea you don't need to have every spot filled sure, but if you have 5+ charcters scattered you're not going to get a Bingo unless Sakurai does an "Everyone's Here!" for newcomers lol.

Unless you want to make an impossible Bingo sheet which is cool too! I just think that the one I was replying to (toaster...something. I'm bad at names, let alone usernames) wasn't as impossible as they stated.

ANYWAY, I'll probably make my own when I'm home so thanks for the template!

On a different subject, I never understood why the Zelda cast always have one specific design based on a certain game.

Why can’t they just have Smash original designs where they combine aspects of several games (OoT, TP, BOTW, etc) into one?

Target Smash was... okay... not as good as Target Test, but there was a certain satisfaction that came from breaking all the targets.

About "new" minigames, I wouldn't mind seeing the Car Wrecking minigame from Street Fighter.

I'm hoping we'll get at least two newcomers revealed. Why? Well, aside from getting new characters, I want another excuse for us to update this thread's poll.

Seriously, that thing has been bugging me more than it should. Why are there more than 600 people who still believe we'll get six or fewer newcomers? We already have three, so the first two choices almost seem redundant at this point (especially the first one, since it's literally impossible for us to get 1-2 newcomers now).

My character predictions for the Direct:

-another assist trophy and Pokeball sizzle reel
-at least two character disconfirmations that leave a lot of people genuinely upset
-Sakurai rubs the salt in by pointing out things about at least one of them
-at least two of the unshown final smashes have major cameos in them, probable disconfirmations
-an echo fighter no one considered is shown
-one new fighter is shown right at the beginning and one at the end
-the one at the end is third party
-the one at the beginning is popular but not K. Rool levels of popular
-several characters are shown to have new costume ALTs; Masked Dedede is probably one of them since it's already in-game.

Unlike Cloud, Goku is always voiced in both English and Japanese in major things...so that would be hated since not everyone likes his Japanese voice (well that and Funimation already wanting their boy in, so it would make even more sense to have him voiced in English)...also that’s just Cloud who’s the same voice in all versions 3rd Party Wise (more than likely they couldn’t get him in English due to reasons)

Goku has the most successful anime video games, and the company that publishes those is Bandai-Namco, who is also working on Smash Bros.

Regardless, it's...just a video game. Chill with the rudeness, it's not that important in the end.

Personally I wouldn't mind Goku. DBZ games are pretty popular and there are so many of them at this point that Goku is, in my mind, both an anime and video game character. DBZ is also on a major resurgence with Super and FighterZ doing so well. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see quite a few people cite his inclusion as a reason they got the game.

I'm not gonna pull or root for Goku by any means, but I would be pretty hyped to see him make it.

I responded on my phone earlier so I didn't notice the Bayo legs, but now I know your picture is top tier so...

And yeah honestly, the final reveal ("And we have one more thing to show you.") is usually some incredibly hype generating announcement (Like Ridley's reveal). It's a good time to talk about the demo. Otherwise, it might end up being something completely out of left field but still hypey, or something people want that would bring the hype, like K. Rool.

Easiest Demo guess would be a "Test Smash" in September after the Nintendo Online service starts up. Pipe dream would be a local demo version with a August release.

Here are my biggest hopes for the Direct. I will out them in a Bingo later:

-2 unique Newcomers (please let one be Elma)
-More details about how to unlock characters (especially if it is done in a special mode).
-More Echo Fighters, at least one,
-Snake's Codec is back
-Hanenbow is back
- More AT and Pokeball Pokémon.
-A new Adventure Mode. I wouldn't mind somethibg akin to The Great Cave Offensive in Super Star or The Great Maze in Brawl.
-Some cool Mii Fighter costumes.

- At least a new character or two

- Tournament mode with ALL CPU options, not leaving 1 person to play

Really 21 I think is going to be made canon fighters made to much of an impact.
