Honestly, I'm more interested in the disconfirmations. I want Sakurai to rip-off the bandage and tell us who won't be in Smash just so we can avoid holding out for popular characters until December 7th only to be disappointed.

I'd actually like this a lot more than a whole bunch of character reveals: Sakurai gives an honorable mention to every popular character who wasn't able to make it in and deconfirms them for good from this game.

I could appreciate the game a lot more on release, knowing full well that Geno/K.Rool weren't in. Remember how much people were disappointed when the "Ridley, Dixie, Chorus Men, Mewtwo in Smash Wii U" rumor wasn't true? False expectations can ruin the "oomph" of a Smash game quite a bit.

Also, I see a lot of people claiming we'll get like 7 character confirmations this upcoming direct including echo fighters.
Anyone feel like it's kind of far out to expect, or is it perhaps more realistic to get the info in small bites as we approach the release date? Or is it too little to expect? lmao

I think Flatzone (Melee) and Flatzone X are the most likely ones.

I would like the individual Flat Zones both come back, mostly just for the original's sake. As a kid I always thought it was super cool that when you paused you could see the entire system that you were playing inside.

Boy I forgot how exciting Direct announcements were. Like knowing E3 was months away sucks, but being told "hey you're getting news and it's gunna be in like 3 days" is amazing. Probably won't even be on here much because I don't wanna risk someone like vergegberger just spoiling the whole direct.

Annoyed that a slot was wasted on an anime character, but I’d be suprised and somewhat impressed that they used Kid Goku instead of regular adult Goku.

Of course, regardless that crap would open a massive can of worms leading people to legitimately support Shrek, Cory, etc.

Yeah- I think the chance of any one of them being mentioned at all specifically was interesting enough to be put as a bingo slot.
Considering how tightly Sakurai keeps the projects under wraps, I don't think any leak is swaying me one way or the other and those specific characters can go either way or just not be involved at all

I know that diagonal is an impossible bingo- in fact I don't have faith in any of the bingos that involve that diagonal.

Um yeah... I have been absent in Smash thread for a while so... sorry if I am reply to posts that are at least 200 pages old... and also once again related to XC2...
I admit most of the designs aren't great and people can have their own opinions, but whenever comes to the reasons they often just made my eyes roll...
While I know weall have been debating on this dozens and dozens of times, with how ZSS and Snake were being a bit resigned, now I somewhat can see Pyra and Mythra having smaller bust, but again I still don't think there will be any significant cloth changes, tweaks.

Mythra’s design is alright but Rex and Pyra are total eyesores, Pyra was designed by a hentai artist because of course. Thankfully if they get in they’ll be dlc so we won’t have to have them.

Mythra, Pyra, Rex, Nia, Dromarch, Brighid, Pandoria, Zeke, Vandham, Tora, and Poppi are all from the artist Saitou lol, and why is Saitou often called a hentai artist just because he has some? They were never his main themes and many well known artists have drawn nsfw fanarts, you may scoff on it but it's totally normal for them to draw nsfw artworks. Another example is Tony who is the artist for Shining Resonance, he's super well known for drawing nsfw artworks and hentai mangas

I started playing Xenoblade 2 tonight and after an hour have to say that Rex is probably my favourite protagonist over Shulk and Elma. Cool concept, he's a scavenger which I love and awesome Sword concept.

I just hope they don't try to make him too gimmicky if he does get in. I find it really hard to play as Shulk for that reason.

I'm going to see if I can use my "approximate fortune telling" to ballpark guess some parts about the Smash Direct.
I will give more if asked, lol. But this is just for fun.

• There will (probably) be an assist trophy reveal that isn't actually upsetting.
• The direct will start with a newcomer reveal (hype) and end with another (more hype) or playable demo dates (best timeline)
• There will absolutely be something revealed that nobody has been speculating about. I'm 100% sure of this one- mostly because you all talk about the same 5 things over and over again.
• Be prepared for Sakurai to birth a new meme.
• Single Player will be touched on, and it will actually be interesting. But also Smash Run might come back.

Disclaimer: These are just my guesses, for fun, because I ended up "approximately predicting" the Smash Direct announcement. I wanna see if I can keep this "nearly had it" streak going haha. I got infracted for the fake leak I made a few days ago.

Also, these seem like safe guesses because they are.

Does he take some liberty to make Rex more easy to casual while still making quit unique to other swordfighter? Or does he just take the bare minimum (it's a sword with fire coming out of it, so let it shoot fire or somethin') and make Rex are really easy character to play, but without too much depth compared to say, Shulk?

It's a hard question to answer, especially with all the things going on in XB2 battle system & Rex & Pyra playstyle too.

It's a hard question to answer, especially with all the things going on in XB2 battle system & Rex & Pyra playstyle too.

The timing/rhythm part of XC2’s battle system probably wouldn’t translate over well, but I could definitely see the battle affinity stuff be Rex’s “thing.”

Yeah one thing I like about Rex is his optimism and sassiness. It's a much more different approach then the other two characters.

Elma ain't the protagonist

Here's my standpoint on this. Elma is not the protagonist, but she is the main character. When it comes down to it, your character "Cross" is the one doing all the side quest, getting to know all the people in New LA, building up his(My character was male) rank, and more. However he was not important to the story whatsoever, while Elma is a huge factor. A lot of the plot revolves around her which makes her the main character.


As for who will be in Smash. Likely Elma. Time didn't help Xenoblade 2 and something tells me that Sakurai would rather include stuff from every Xenoblade rather than just skip X. I'm worried about DLC honestly, but what can you do? I'll accept anything Sakurai gives us, but I can only hope he includes Rex and Pyra.

I only give crap on Rex's VA though lol...

Unfortunately true. I don't hate his VA, but when he yells its horrendous. For Smash they better strap him up to a chair and whip him so that he can actually start yelling.
