It would be cool if rivals got a small cutscene before they fight in classic mode, similar to Soul Caliber. I’ll try to make the rivalries cross series, since that’s more interesting in a crossover game.

Nintendo's is proud to have so many million sellers when you know that if an EA game sells less than 5 million, the developers will be flogged and their studio dissolved.

As for Octopath, we know it sold out physical copies twice over in Japan but we don't know how much they stocked in the first place.

The thing with EA and companies like them is they have this bad habit of leveraging money through other elements besides the creation of the games themselves. They waste huge amounts of money on massive marketing budgets, heavy promotions, and things of that sort. Now this in turn can result in a massive amount of sales and a lot of money, but it does require a massive amount to make a profit. As a result when a game from EA bombs, it's an utter financial disaster.

I was always under the impression they were one of the most likely characters this time around, right behind K Rool, but I haven't seen one on many leaks or prediction rosters. Considering a Rhythm Heaven emblem was found in Smash 4 and Megamix came out in 2015 (relevant) I would assume they would be more popular. I'd even consider them a shoe-in. It's easily the next most likely Nintendo franchise to get a character in my opinion.

How do you all feel about assist trophy characters being in Smash? Is it better to be in Smash unplayable than to not be apart of the series at all or would it be the other way around?

I think it depends on the character. If K.Rool, with all of his popularity, was relegated to assist status, I'd be annoyed. But if Arcanine got in as a Pokéball I'd be absolutely stoked.

I believe it's better to be in than not at all overall. Still, some major players would be served better as full characters.

My most wanted character is Tails, while Tails would be the natural fit with Luigi all because of Mario Vs. Sonic (And of course the doubles battle between those two would be glorious). I would also enjoy it if they played up a rivalry between him and Fox. For of course them being both foxes, good pilots, etc. A battle of the star foxes.

Jimmy is the music guy in Wario Ware so it makes sense to have a theme associated with in Smash and this is just dying for a proper remix to flesh the song out properly. It's perfect!!

Probably Kirby, i mean Kirby and Marx have fought before and are both similarly coloured cute lil' blobs. could also see Ridley being Mar'x rival because both are evil flying purple beasts of death.

As early as it is for definitive competitive predictions, if I had to take a whack at a top 12 for Ultimate, it'd be something like

Paper Mario: Bowser. I mean, duh. But I wish that wasn't the most obvious answer.
Geno: Not Bowser, because they're teammates in SMRPG. Kirby? We've seen how he forces stars to take him places, after all. What a bad person.
Goemon: Ah, well. Nobody, probably. He's so vastly unrelated to the other characters and is based on a real person who got boiled alive. Boiled. ... that sounds familiar.

I guess Kirby just antagonizes everyone. That is my final answer.

Should in theory be a favorite for a pick considering it has relevancy (primarily in Japan but at least has international releases unlike Takamaru or Lip), a recent game, and is one of the only viable choices left as far as new IP go. The biggest issue is that there isn't an obvious face of the franchise to default towards but even then Karate Joe is an obvious choice given his obvious moveset potential, perfect attendance record, and recognizability among Rhythm Heaven fans.
