Honestly that's news I love to hear. With all of the world leauges of Overwatch and PUBG which are all just attempts by the game's publisher's to push the popularity of their game's to the absolute limit it's great to see that a tournament build out of pure love and honesty for competitive fighting games are getting the treatment it deserves.

I can confirm that the Italian site once skipped an entire update (the Knuckles AT one) and another time it published an update a whole day earlier than intended (the "Character of the day: Pit" one). If you don't believe me you can check it on the site: while they have retrowctively added Knucles, the Pit update has the same date as the Mega Man one.


This all to say that the site management isn't stellar

I screamed in joy when I saw Bomberman revealed as an assist fighter. I thought I never could see him in Smash. So yeah, better Assist Trophy then not being in at all. It's not like being one kills your chances, look at Little Mac.

I think being in the game is better than not at all, but I would still prefer it if some of them *cough* Waluigi *cough* were playable.

AT's aren't a bad thing. I'm glad Bomberman is there. I had a feeling it could happen, but only because making his moveset work well is not an easy task alone. It isn't something that would clearly "just flow quickly". It requires a lot more thought and precision. People have made great movesets for him too, of course.

A thing to remember when it comes to movesets is some write themselves easily, while others don't. This absolutely doesn't actually say whether a character has a good chance to get in or not either. It just tells us that when a character doesn't get in, moveset issues can be a thing. Sakurai may have just had trouble with Bomberman being easy enough to implement, and wanted to spend time on other priority characters. An AT is a good second choice so he can still show off how cool he is.

Anyway, I like AT's. I'll take it over nothing at all. They can be used for cool mods. Sure, they hurt(Takamaru, Waluigi, etc.), but they also still can be good. Maybe they can represent the character better at times. At least it's not just a trophy/song reference/sticker/etc. Those are good too, but not as cool as an AT.

I was going to say this, but even if Peach's final smash still spawns them the final smash is going to get changed in some way, as it's one of the biggest offenders of the old final smashes that dragged the game and won't fit in with the new "quick and straight to the point" final smash theme.

I mean, it is technically quick and straight to the point, just not for immediately killing. It also allows Daisy to copy it by changing the sleep to flowerhead. They will probably change it to something more powerful though.

Shy Guys serve the role of Goombas in the Yoshi series, which is why they should be under the Yoshi series imho.

Note: Why do most people want Amaterasu as an Assist Trophy? XD

I think people should avoid thinking any character is guaranteed (unless they were Inklings), but I don't know how it would be the disconfirmation of Lyn and Krystal that would break that delusion for people, those two were far from shoo-ins and were unlikely characters that had little going for them while facing big obstacles (I'm a bit surprised that Krystal even got an AT).

Well to be fair, I said Lyn and Krystal were my wake up call, not anyone else's, except probably other supporters of Lyn and Krystal. Also considering that Lyn is one of if not the most popular FE character, and Krystal would mean a new Star Fox rep other than Wolf, I won't call them unlikely.

Of course, there are people that had other characters they wanted but ended up as Assist Trophies(Bomberman, Midna), or characters that were Assist Trophies, but are now in a state of MIA, and uncertainty, and we don't know what might happen to them. As well as a character newcomer Sakurai wanted to implement into the game as a newcomer; Takamaru, but ultimately ended up as an Assist Trophy.

I think any love is better than nothing.

Sakurai works his fingers off. I appreciate the work he does.

I disagree with some of what he says, yeah, but still. Man deserves credit for his hard work. I just can't hate seeing that a great character gets some love. Even if it's not how I would enjoy it. I preferred Wario Land Wario. I think Bowser Jr. should've had his paintbrush moveset. But you know what? This is fine too. They're both fun to play as~
