I feel like I remember Yoshi being considering pretty high up in the early days of Smash 4. What happened there, anyway?

To be honest, that sounds kinda iffy since K.Rool is like... nearing the Ridley fame like Waluigi did. In fact, I honestly think that Ashley is the most pipe dream character out of all of the popular characters that people want in Smash. Like her fanbase is very niche (not small, it's a niche audience)and uh... creepy, It be weird for her to be the first in considering both her series and the others who don't have characters *cough*F-ZERO*cough*, and honestly a trophy is fine enough for me.

Yeah, I remember getting wrecked by a few Yoshi players and thinking "Wow, he's actually pretty scary this time around". Not enough players or overshadowed by the DLC characters, I guess.

An unfortunate side-effect of that early perception and his current placement is that he STILL gets **** flung at him reserved for top-tier characters such as "Oh he's too easy to use. It's an instant win!" You don't hear that about Duck Hunt or Shulk (who are in the same tier as Yoshi).

That sentiment about Ashley is dumb and only accurate toward a vocal minority. I hate that people have been so frequently coming to that conclusion, it's unfair to the people who genuinely like Ashley as a character. The fact that it's become a pretty common thing to see people generalizing Ashley supporters as creepy lolicons says more to me about the people saying it than the supporters. Get your mind out of the gutter.

I think it's a gag that's like Peach being transformed into a literal peach and Bowser being enraged over the aftermath lol

OP is mistaken though imo, since Peach Blossom summons Giant Peaches in Smash 4. I don't think this would change in Ultimate (and we wouldn't see just one tiny peach on the field).

Does she have a niche audience? She's clearly pretty popular, and she has the relevancy and moveset potential for a good shot at Smash. Also F Zero isn't a good comparison, it's a pretty dead series while both Ashley and Warioware have clear futures. A trophy might be fine for you but you don't want the character in Smash, other people do want her to be playable.

It could just have come from the food item as opposed to Peach's FS. God I hope they didn't revert it back to Brawl FS, at least Smash 4 limited it to 3 peaches that were easy to grab. They should really just do away with the peaches, Final Smashes aren't meant to heal opponents.
