It's really not something special, to be honest.

Actually, fun fact from the wonderful world of "I know too much about Sonic", no he can't.

He has a Jump Dash, but it does not home in on enemies like Shadow does. Same goes for all the other characters who aren't Sonic. This can be proven by controlling the other character with a second controller. Sonic is the only helper character who actually homes in on the enemies.

After the launch in September, Nintendo will be starting the new Special Releases program.

Under this program most Nintendo franchises for the first 12 months of their life, will receive regular DLC for free every few months.

The program is available for free to anyone subscribed to Nintendo Online.

DLC for Smash Brothers will be provided for free until the first expansion 18-24 months in. 6 free characters are planned.

The expansion will extend the move sets of solely Echos. Original Echos will be barred from online play until the expansion is purchased.

I plan to provide a plethora of images and insane shaky but good quality video as we go along. (using a QOL Bluetooth exploit of recorded phone camera footage of someone inside)

I have decided to roll out the information in parts in a fun way for the community.

I will let you the community decide how quickly or slowly I release. I genuinely know not only the newcomers, but the 6 planned DLC.

I will give you a hint, only 2 more characters have unique move sets, the rest are Echos.

If anyone reads and understand Japanese insanely well, even with a strong accent. Please send me a private message as I have been unable to understand everything.

Well, they have voice patches for some characters Lucina for example but still.

I think the counter line added for a Lucina was already there, just not used until then, but yeah...I reall6 wanted to hear the superior Lyn voice in Smash (kinda has me slightly worried for Roy and slightly hopeful for Lucina to keep her Laura Bailey voice clips)

Ain't Shadow almost the exact same as Sonic in Forces.

I don't think SEGA cares.

I don’t know if he can, I know he can air dash. When you’re a Power character being near an enemy will auto trigger a Speed and Flight Homing Attack but I cannot remember if there’s a situation where a Power character will perform one.

I must have been mistaken then, my bad.

Shadow would be cool. But I think Tails or Eggman would get in first.

Also, the amount of edge that Shadow and Dark Pit would create together would be catastrophic. The world would be destroyed. Subspace Emissary 2: No R.O.B.s left behind.

The two edges would clash and cause a Dimensional Rift, resulting in a bigger explosion than all the Supspace Bombs combined.

Honestly, it's a bit disgusting to me, as someone who has wanted Shadow in for years and has advocated for the idea that he can be more than just a Sonic clone, to see people trying to argue in now of all times, when Echoes exist and Shadow now actually has a GOOD CHANCE at being playable because he can easily fit the Echo mold and it make a LOT of sense (though disappointing it may be), that for whatever reason he can't be an Echo. For weird as **** reasons even such as "SEGA wouldn't allow that idea because it would be 'disrespectful' to the character" or "he has to be completely different because he has these things available to him" or whatever.

It's like, really guys? We're at a point where we finally have a reasonable shot at him joining the roster. Just take what you can get.
It may be disappointing to see none of our ideas be implemented and instead he go back to his roots as a near-identical counterpart to Sonic, but still. The fact those roots exist in the first place make being an Echo more than reasonable.
And as the Echoes we already have show, just because you can do more than serve as an Echo doesn't mean you will.

Thanks for the link, and yeah that seems like a bug, look at DK's stock icon, it didn't disappear (not sure if it does that in Smash 4 if you die right as the timer strikes but I doubt it). How odd.

If Shadow's in Smash, his Final Smash should be him teleporting his opponents onto Earth and plummeting from the Ark and landing on them; meteor style.

Super Shadow would be boring.

The all have the exact same animation as a homing attack (They lunge forward with a trail behind them) But I swear to you on my amiibo collection that the only one who is capable of actually homing in on enemies is Sonic. Everyone else just acts like there isn't a target. It's really weird, but... It's consistent I guess, or at least it was until Rivals. :V

Rivals also wasn't made by Sonic Team or even really supervised by them, so I personally don't count it. That's just me though.

And oh I'm not saying for a second that almost any Sonic character can be an echo despite me feeling a lot of them bring more to the table than Shadow ever could. I'm also not even saying Shadow couldn't have his own unique moves, because he absolutely could. I'm just saying that Shadow, out of every character, is easily the most befitting of am echo role and that it's really not remotely out of character for him to be one.

A thing that adds to the charm of Shadow the Hedgehog is his Chaos abilities. They would make a good moveset and those abilities really seperate him from Sonic.

To have Shadow be a Carbon Copy of Sonic with TWO SPindashes and a Spring doesn't sit well with alot of people, including me. Sonic's moveset is already kind of shafted, since he has TWO SPindashes, and the Chance of Shadow also being Shafted with TWO SPindashes when he has So much more material to use is kinda grim.

DLC echoes being free would be a good move from Sakurai.

Though I am guessing with the remaining two unique newcomers left, there would only be Simon and Isabelle going by Vergeben information. Or did I read that wrong, and he was referring to a second expansion of DLC.

It's the sad reality of Smash, my guy.

fights absolutely NOTHING like Marth does in any of her non Smash appearances, yet she is still Marth's Echo. could have used so many other of KI:U's amazing weapons or even just his staff to make himself stand out, but nope. Echo.

It's all about the minimal development time it takes to make them while still at least KINDA making sense for them to be the way they are.

Just because the character is more than how they're portrayed in Smash doesn't really mean much if they still have a close connection to the character they're echoing.
