I was more referring to the fact that Ashley is not a significant character in any WarioWare game any more than the other characters. I think you're overestimating her popularity and "promotion?"

She's the only member of the cast who got her own new separate art work. She also has advertised OTHER games than WarioWare in Japan.

She, Shadow, and Isabelle are easily the most notable missing ATs.

Ms. Pac-Man shares IP rights with someone other than Bandai-Namco. She's unlikely to be a costume or playable as an echo due to this. She also works 100% fine as a costume either way.

As for Ashley, she's vastly the most popular of the WW characters besides Wario himself. If anyone gets playable among it, it's her.

Sakurai only asked for a model in the first place. He wasn't intending to have the character playable at that time. He just wanted a model for a trophy. That was it.

What Ubisoft sent was a brand new 3D model rendered for the game.

Honestly, unless we see Shadow or Ms. Pac-Man, I think we're just gonna get Simon. Eight third parties seems pretty sufficient. Good enough for an 8 Player game.

Everyone's going "Simon Simon Simon" because of the leak, I don't think anybody would've acknowledged his existence if he wasn't mentioned. Shadow or any Sonic character is easily a demandable second third party for SEGA. I wouldn't count on only Simon for a """leak""", but it's fun to think about what could possibly be.

Japan adores her and nobody is really 'important' in Warioware. She's the most popular character and as we all know, you can't promote someone people don't actually like. Sakurai also felt the need to add a post saying "She's just an Assist Trophy" when she was first revealed in Smash 4 a bit after the fact

All the recurring WarioWare characters other than Wario are all around the same level of "importance". WarioWare itself isn't a series where characters are even that important, they're just there for a bit of theming, structure, and flavour.

However when they're all "equal", that's when factors such as popularity start giving certain characters the edge over others. Look at the starter Pokemon.

Also, I think Elma alternating between being in and out of a skell could be an interesting moveset if incorporated correctly. I think the height could work if they tried.

If Ridley can work, you can't convince me that anyone is too tall.

Except that doesn't matter as she's well-known by Nintendo fans outside of Japan too due to having games come out and ALSO have the Ashley marketing. Sakurai said Ridley's foreign demand was overwhelming, so if Japan doesn't care for Ridley, why not add a character Japan really wants to see to make up? Not saying she's guaranteed nor do I think she's promoted, I just think you're being dishonest as hell with the K.Rool comparison, who, by the way, is only said to be popular in Japan because Source Gaming made a fanpoll despite having a small fanbase, not Japan exclusive entries and claiming fan polls are never accurate

Yeah - the version we saw at E3 was incomplete, and was an "Event Version" of the game.
It's not the final product, things could have been missing or incomplete, or even removed/ tweaked later on prior to release.

K. Rool has worldwide popularity. Bayonetta was apparently #1 in Europe during the Smash Ballot. Ridley is heavily requested by Western fans, as Metroid isn't that popular in Japan.

Sakurai caters to everyone. Ashley is enormously popular in Japan. Whether that means he'll include her as playable remains to be seen, but for a non playable character she got a LOT of love in the prior game.
