But still, that's not Square Enix. SE is heavily protective of their characters, and it shows by how little FF content actually made it into Smash. There were only 2 songs (even in the Wii U version) and the only trophies are Cloud's fighter trophies.

There's also the Chocobo hat, as well as a full on Geno costume.

And you are thinking this because......why? Like what sense does that make? What does that have to do with anything?

The only way that exceptions can be made is if either the character has a significant demand or the creator is a friend of Sakurai's.

I'll be sure to ask you next time if a potential character fits the criteria you totally just made up.

The idea for the game was always "boy meets girl" and it was decided early on to use two characters (one idea was to have giant mechs but they changed it to people sized characters).

That's so interesting that the game was envisioned as a 'boy meets girl' story from the beginning. I haven't checked out XC2 but this description alone makes me want to go buy and play it right now. I adore those kinds of stories.

So, with E3 being right around the corner I've been working my butt off on a moveset for Captain Toad in the hopes of getting it out prior to the big day. Typically I finished JUST as the boards went down. D'oh!

But they're back up now, so I'd like to present you with my Captain Toad Moveset! It's animated!

This is actually incredibly well-made.
Minor possible critique: It might be a good idea to simplify the standard attacks by involving fewer props (esp. f-tilt's diamond) and removing the pickaxe being super effective on pitfalled opponents. Neither detail are bad for his character, but he's already complicated to the point of being convoluted with his specials, so it feels a little excessive. Using the Star like you did is a great idea though and perhaps the pickaxe could get a buff on damage to non-player objects? That way Pac doesn't screw him over quite as badly with fire hydrant.

I really appreciate how consistently you applied everything you talked about at the end, it felt like it was actually happening in a game rather than as scripted motion tweens. I look forward to seeing what you make in the future.

Some people around here tend to discredit anything even slightly atypical if it can't somehow be tied-in with promotional opportunities. Like there has to be airtight, "commercial" logic to any and all tie-ins.

If you like it, then you'll enjoy this game. It takes a lot from 80s/90s anime so expect some cliches. The story itself is good and the gameplay is great. Best battle system of the Xenoblade games and a ton of content. Highly recommend it if thats your thing.

If you think Nintendo wouldn't do everything in their power to prevent one of the most hype-inducing characters ever announced in Smash history from getting the boot, I don't know what to tell you. And I sincerely doubt Square would be against the massive publicity.

Also lol Wii Fit getting cut. Not a chance, my guy. There has NEVER been a cut Nintendo character that is the sole representative of a franchise. The closest we've ever gotten is Ice Climbers, but that is ONLY because of Smash 3DS, they were fully intended to return otherwise. And Snake, but third party is a different story.

It just makes zero sense to cut a franchise with only one representative, no matter how small or irrelevant the series is. That's literally telling its fans "You'll get nothing and like it." Nobody wins in situations like that.

I am 100% fine with cliches as long as the story and characters are interesting. And I've heard some great things about the gameplay, and it's even more encouraging to hear the battle system is so great.

I've been following the rumors for a long time and can remember most of them, but am not sure what rumor is being referenced here as the "dream cast".

I don't think Disney characters are going to be in Kingdom Hearts IV. Disney is very protective of their characters.

Cloud and Snake were also heavily associated with Sony but here we are. Also I think PlayStation All Stars is kind of dead sadly.

Probably should have included some the most famous Playstation All Stars of Lara Croft, Spyro and Crash if they wanted it to sell.

They tried. Activision wouldn't release Crash and Spyro, and Square Enix wouldn't release Cloud, Sora or Lara Croft.

It's just from a couple pages ago. A guy with presumably good insider sources claiming that Microsoft and Nintendo are posibly teaming up for a/some projects at E3. And Vergeben said something about Minecraft being in Smash in the form of an AT or stage.

Regarding Fire Emblem, the only characters I'd say are in immediate threat of being cut are Corrin and Roy, even then they'll probably return. Marth and Ike are well-liked veterans, meanwhile Robin is the most unique of the Fire Emblem bunch. Lucina is extremely popular in her home series and she's so easy to implement that there's no reason to cut her (make a new model and rig it to Marth's pre-existing animations). The only thing really holding Roy and Corrin back is the fact they're DLC and there's no real precedent for this kind of thing, but I'm still 80% sure they'll return given Roy's popularity and Corrin's uniqueness.
