Anyway, I could see some of them being in, but it feels too vague and I think they're just craving attention.

I think the one thing that people forget is that there is more to "reps" than characters. Stages, Assist Trophies, music and trophies are also ways to "rep". For example, even if hypothetically there is no newcomers from Switch-era games, that doesn't mean we'd be lacking in Switch representation due to the other possible ways for representation that I mentioned.

Don't get me wrong, Characters are what people want the most generally(it's kind of SSB's bread and butter). It doesn't mean it's the only thing that matters. It's just the most popular thing overall among the majority and the best way to promote the series. Hence, it gets the most attention.

Other stuff shouldn't be ignored, but it's reasonable to focus more on that since it's the series' forte.

Totally agree with your point, but Zelda and BotW or Mario and Odyssey might have been better examples. No other series comes close to having as many potential characters as Pokémon. If Sakurai can't see potential in any of the Sun/Moon Pokémon, then I'd ask him to put in his contacts and take a second look.

Yeah, I used Sun/Moon just as an easy example of a game basically everyone thinks we'll get a newcomer from to demonstrate that nothing is 100% in stone. BOTW and Mario Odyssey are probably much more likely to get passed up on then Sun/Moon realistically.

Anyone can go to IMDB and edit any page there. That list has Tom Nook being voiced by Jontron. You could list yourself as voicing Isaac if you wanted. It'd still be deleted.

Brawl leaks? Only knew a handful of stuff.
Gematsu leaks? Didn't know about Rosalina or secret characters.
Ninka/Vaanrose leaks? Didn't know the whole roster, but knew some secret characters.

If anyone gives the full roster, its most likely bull.

Oh, so it's the far older leak that seems unlikely(biggest thing, imo, is the Geno/Mallow team. Second is Porky in a spider mech, which doesn't sound all that feasible for play. Of course, if it was real, it wouldn't be a bad thing either)

every leak is fake until proven true, if this smash is a heroes vs villains and they say it in the e3 then it will be confirmed, but if not we leave it were it is now, in the fake pile.
But is still fun to discuss and talk about it.

Text leaks are actually more common. This is what happens with the last two games and even the Switch reveal (albeit a day before). It was rare we got so many screens and I wouldn't expect it to happen again (as it was an issue with the ESRB and I expect Nintendo will make damn sure it doesn't happen again).

There's one easy way to tell if a leak is fake.

It needs to have partial information.

I want to add that with Brawl, it was actually 3-4 separate leaks. The only reason we knew the whole roster is people were able to piece it together. Unfortunately, one of them was deleted by a Smash Boards mod.

Not to be mean or vindictive or whatever, but if I had a time machine like a Delorean or a Tardis, etc. I'd go back in time and erase Fire Emblem and Xenoblade from existence and see what Smashboards actually even talks about.

Yup and with the exception of Gematsu, the majority of the leakers were people who were beta testers or who had contacts or friends who were beta testers which general only have snippets of the full game and contain different characters to test.

I admire the fact that it holds Fire Stingray aka Samurai Goroh. I'd die of happiness if this were to be the case. Goroh is one of my most wanted characters, but not idealistic ones, other than he does have a fair "chance", but not a good one, realistically, but I'd be so happy!

Can we not count Dark Pit please. He basically took no effort to make other than a few extra lines of voice acting. If they actually gave him a unique move-set or a semi-clone move-set and then added Medusa or Viridi and Kirby still didn't get anything then I think your argument may have some weight. I still wouldn't really agree though.

For the purpose of "reps" I would honestly remove Edgy Pit from the equation.

You mean the NyaseNya leak, right? The one which leaked Olimar and Toon Link and Sonic (and Sonic's reveal date), disconfirmed Mega Man and Ridley, and the one in which the mod outright locked the thread and changed the OP to say that he was a liar?

Something similar happened in Gamfaqs with a user called ChaosZero who leaked some veterans (Ness, Ganondorf) newcomers (Lucario and Wolf) and even mentioned the Stage Builder and Dragoon Item (and he explained how it works) yet a mod called him a troll, only to be vindicated later on and be renamed "the Dragoon Prophet".

There was also ShadowXOR who leaked R.O.B but nobody believed him due to him beign shown as a Subspace enemy at the time.

Assists are okay. The problem is that they are random and are seen for a few seconds. So if you wanted Waluigi to join the fight it would be a completely random chance and only for a few seconds.

I wish they were implimented in another way. Maybe in a new mode where you can summon the assists of your choice into the battlefield.

Yep, NyaseNya is the one I'm thinking off. ChaosZero was the big one from what I remember. I believe he didn't know the name of the Dragoon but described exactly how it worked. Once it was confirmed, the rest was true. There was Serebii as well who mostly just said Mewtwo was out and may have said Lucario was in.

There was one other thought I'm not sure it was ShadowXOR. Name doesn't seem familiar. I remember they had most of what ChaosZero was missing. The final roster people put together had ROB but I feel like remember people saying it was ROB from Starfox 64.

Kind of miss the Brawl days but I kind of like we aren't waiting months for new information.

I don't really care if he is a clone or not, he still is a playable character.
What if I wanted Alph, Pichu or Dark Meta Knight?
Dark Pit still used time that could have been used for other clone and is still a character in the game, it doesn't matter if he was "free dessert", he was still chosen over other characters.

And even if Dark Pit didn't exist, Pit, Palutena and Medusa would still be ridiculous for such a niche and small franchise IMO.

That would be an amazing roster, even without Bandana Dee, but these kind of ultra fan service rosters are never true, not to mention knowing the entire roster this early is unprecedented.
