Miis suck, but the sooner you come to accept that they're most likely in, the less you'll be dissapointed when they finally show up. Same goes for Pac-Man if you dislike him. I just hope there won't be too much *****ing and moaning if Miis are revealed in this Direct, even if I myself don't like them and think it'd be a waste there's nothing you can do about it.

I'd honestly be completely neutral on their inclusion if they were disabled online, but I don't see them including a character they'd put such restrictions on.
I could live with that @ the bolded statement.

But I've got my salt and disappointment meter roaring to go at top speed if I see them as playable characters.

Assist trophies
Items
Little easter egg type things.

Anything is fine but playable...

It's not like whether or not they are in the game will stop me from buying it.

I wonder how Mega Man's Crash Bomber will affect the presence/absence of the Sticky Bomb. I hope new and returning items are discussed in tomorrow's Direct.

Here's to hoping that the Wii fit trainer will count as enough Wii representation to keep Mii's away.

Here's to hoping that the Villager will count as enough 3ds representation to keep Mii's away.

The thought is disgusting.

And you know what might be the worst case scenario?

They make it to where you can play as your Mii, Using any of the character's movesets.

That would kill me literally.

People dislike Miis this much?

This is starting to worry me. It's a fictional character....
I'm honestly not opposed to the ideas of Miis being playable. If I had a choice? I'd say no, I don't really want them in, but I wouldn't get mad if they got in. They're kinda cute and weird and I'm sure Sakurai could do some really neat and interesting things with them, and you'd probably have the option to customize their moves or weight/speed, which would definitely be unique.

I never liked them. All the way back when my mom first got me a Wii on Christmas and I created one for the first time. I thought it was boring, ugly, and extremely generic. Never touched it since.

I can understand the casual appeal that they offer as avatars, but I'll never accept them as actual Nintendo characters. Like others have said they are just generic avatars with virtually no personality nor special qualities (cool they can play sports... just like 99% of the characters in the Mario universe).

Just imagine if Microsoft made a Smash Bros equivalent for the Xbox and they included Xbox avatars on the roster to fight alongside the likes of Master Chief (Halo) and Marcus Fenix (Gears of War). That's how I feel about Miis.

If (once) they make the roster I'll come to terms with it, but I won't like it at all.

This would be much better for custom characters, and I know im starting to sound like a broken record regarding this.

Not only would it give fire emblem a good character from the current game without bringing a character that might be seen as too similar to marth (Chrom/Lucina) it also has a lot of potential variety for customization options.

Plenty of weapon choices too.
Axes
Spears
Tomes
Swords
Daggers
etc...

It also looks 1000000000000% better than those things.

Hell, it works even better because of the naming options.
Each name could have it's own Robin assigned to it.

Only problem is 5 letter names only. :p

People will be way more upset with the Miis if the most popular choices aren't playable and they are.
Me, I just don't want them playable, period.

As terrifying as that would be, it seems unlikely. I feel like issues would come up about not being able to tell which character they're imitating. As for changing weight/speed, given how much time has apparently been dedicated to balancing the game, I doubt they would just toss something that could be so variable in like that.

I'm in the 'I really don't want Miis to be playable' boat like a lot of people, but to be honest, they're kind of inevitable. I'd be surprised if they weren't revealed eventually.

That'd honestly be pretty funny. Seeing a Mii pretending to be Charizard, Rock Smashing and everything, would be so otherworldly, even if I'd dread the idea I wouldn't be able to keep myself from laughing.

They should just release a separate version of the game called Super Smash Bros. for the Mii.

DO NOT GIVE IN.

Are you all willing to just give in to these dastardly beings just because they are so prevalent?

We can have hope guys.

They didn't get into Fire emblem
They didn't get into Animal Crossing (as far as I know)
They didn't get into Starfox 3d
They didn't get into Kid Icarus Uprising
They didn't get into Pokemon X and Y
They didn't get into Kirby (I hope)
They didn't get into Donkey Kong (I hope)
They didn't get into Legend of Zelda.

THERE IS HOPE.

The mental image that popped into my head when I read this had me literally rolling around on the floor laughing. But don't worry folks, there's hope yet!

Kirby is Sakurai's baby, and copying other characters IS HIS THING!! There's no way Sakurai would take that unique ablility away from him just to slap it on a Mii. Rest easy people, no one's getting Rock Smash'd by a Mii anytime soon.

This is what I'm also thinking.
But personally, I'm just hoping they're not playable and have some other role in the game.

I saw a few people on gamefaqs suggesting Miis as the new Alloys...maybe that could work.

I used to want Miis in, but after a while I began to think about how much of a nuisance they could potentially be online. I don't want them in because I don't want to end up fighting a Mii that looks like Hitler, Jesus, Peter Griffin or worst of all, a Mii with's face designed to look like someone's privates.

Plus, I've never really seen much potential in Miis. They have some potential, but not enough to make me want them.

The Miis are the only likely newcomers that I don't want in Smash.

I can see Mii's getting in on the grounds that Nintendo has no problem putting them in, and they know gamers (for the most part) enjoy the idea of putting characters that represent them selves into games. People who claim to hate the idea now will eventually get over it while using their Mii, if only because there is a level of satisfaction one can only achieve when using a character that represents one self

Not everyone has played a Fire Emblem game, and as a result, many simply wouldn't care if Robin got in. As col as it would be for Robin to get in, they would just likely give him/her just two appearances, male or female, based on the default, and use the same move set and just have different voice packs. Basically what their doing with Wii Fit Trainer, and possibly the Villager.

Where as with Mii's players would have full control over what they look like, and possibly have a verity of voice types to chose from.

But unlike all of those other IPs, this is a huge crossover fighting game featuring Nintendo's most iconic stars. Whether we like it or not, Miis are huge with Nintendo, worming their way into the Mario-spinoff titles, and bad minigame collections. They'd right into Smash, sadly. Plus the idea of playing as your personal Mii in a fighting game would appeal to stupid filthy casuals Nintendo's casual market.

If Mii's get in the game, I expect to see articles about Smash brothers promoting the abuse of young children by beating up "Mii" which would essentially be the player.

I'm not very fond of everyone being in smash brothers.

Ever wanted to smash with the best?
Now you can!

Using your Mii you can literally fight with the best!
Take mario head on in a 1v1!
Team up with Link to defeat Ganon!
Defeat your friends in Brutal combat!

Toon Link and Villager (who is supposed to somewhat represent the player) are already in the game, and I've heard nothing from nobody about child abuse promotion. On the topic of what could come up in tomorrow's Direct, I really hope they talk about how the second screens on both the 3DS and Wii U will/may be used in the game. What ways do you think they could be used to enhance the gaming experience?

@Byxis: yea, and? people called them out on their stupidity and prompty ignored them. They did the same with Pokemon, and people got upset initially, and then proceeded to ignore them.

and besides, the idea of children being playable characters in video games isnt new. One character comes to mind, Onion Knight, from the Dissidia Final Fantasy series. There is also Ness and Lucas, who have been in the SSB series before, as well as Nana and Popo, and Young Link, and as Logsmash said, Toon Link. So really the 'we cant put a character that looks like a child in this game cus its a fighting game' wont work because child characters have been in fighting games for years.

You can wear masks of your Mii in City Folk and New Leaf, so they technically did get into AC.

No one practically heard of Fire emblem when Melee came out.

And you're right. People do love to customize their characters.

If they allowed for full Robin customization, people would likely go crazy over that, buy smash. Customize their characters to their liking, AND probably go buy fire emblem as well.

Why would they give full voices for Mii's instead of Robin?
There's much more potential in Robin than Mii.

I forget though, this is Nintendo's market....

People who claim to hate the idea now will eventually get over it while using their Mii, if only because there is a level of satisfaction one can only achieve when using a character that represents one self
You underestimate our hatred.

Certain things just don't go together for some people.

This is like throwing a Digimon into Pokemon
This is like throwing Kratos (god of war) into Mario
This is like throwing cars into Banjo and Kazooie
This is like throwing Oil into water.

These things just don't mix.

Its not about whether people choose to ignore said group of people. The fact that they over reacted in the first place about something so trivial should be warning enough of potential bull**** in the future.

Peach is a female in a dress that slaps, uses frying pans, and uses her ass to attack? That's a potential target for damaging women's portrayal.

Pokemon fight while their trainer stands by and watches? Well PETA already covered that...

Wario eats people and bites them with Chomp? Cannibalistic Smash messages.

All I'm saying is that if given the chance, somebody will find an asspull reason to attack something. Like PETA.

You do have a point, but even so, even if Marth did boost the popularity of the FE series resulting in its release over seas, some people still simply do not care for it.

And you're right. People do love to customize their characters.

If they allowed for full Robin customization, people would likely go crazy over that, buy smash. Customize their characters to their liking, AND probably go buy fire emblem as well.
Yes people love customizable characters, how ever since Robin has ties to a pre-existing series it wouldn't feel the same to everyone. Mii's are characters that represent players in a lot of games Nintendo has made. Mario Kart, Sonic Allstars Racing Transformed, and various others. For most Nintendo fans Mii's are just more identifiable, as they have appeared in multiple Nintendo franchise's, and are characters that represent more than just games, but they also represent a player them selves on their system and the games said system plays.

You underestimate our hatred.
People who let hatred govern their decisions are people who are destined to live very sad and pathetic lives. So really if anything I genuinely feel sorry for those who feel that if a character they hate gets in, will ruin the entire thing for them. Your inability to focus on things that make you happy, over the things you dislike, is truly one of the more tragic First World Problems.

@ Curious Villager Curious Villager

I just had extreme deja vu after looking at those characters within your signature and avatar. What series is that if you don't mind me asking?!
That's a videogame franchise known as Medabots, it has sadly more or less faded into obscurity in the West a long time ago but it's still apparently having games in Japan to this day. I just felt a little nostalgic after seeing it being randomly brought up on another website so I decided to watch the anime again after all those years. :)

Anyway, to get back on topic.... Uhm... What is the current topic right now? Mii's and rights stuff?

Uh well, I think the Mii's are probably likely of showing up into the next Direct, I think that would probably be a good opportunity for Sakurai to explain them more thoroughly I guess if they really wind up with a costumisable moveset and all....
