Miis are... ugh
I can attest with Yonder that Miis with... interesting faces have happened to me frequently on Wifi, especially with Mario Kart Wii. My parents ended up seeing a Jesus Mii in a Wifi race and ended up taking the game away for a month (they're really religious if you're wondering).
But I agree with N3ON with their importance. Miis have been a huge part of Nintendo since their inception, so they make a lot of sense to include in a game about Nintendo's history. Their games are quite literally the modern day Mario Bros. in terms of success.
I'm very conflicted on their addition, and I think they are the posterboy for "Expect but don't want" characters.
