Smash at Evo as a Side Tourney?

F-Evo is live, and in charge of side tournaments at Evolution 2012. The current line up is:

-BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND
-Guilty Gear XX Accent Core
-Skullgirls
-Super Street Fighter Turbo
-Virtua Fighter 5 : Final Showdown

TOs can add their side tournament here. Considering both Melee and Brawl were on the Evo lineup in the past, it shouldn't be too much trouble to get a side event running, if an awesome TO is willing.

I'm going to Evo this year for UMVC3, but it would be awesome if Melee had a side event. Is the Melee/Brawl community interested at all?

Edit: I just saw how soon this would be. I'm not sure that I could make the money to fly out to Vegas in order to host it in time. It would be better for a WC TO to go for this opportunity.

Go for it. I won't be able to make it to EVO this year but I'm planning to go next year, and it would be great to see smash at EVO.

Aisight is probably the best choice since he lives in Vegas. Mike wants to do it and though he's a Brawl player, he's hosted Melee tournaments and is generally a good TO so I don't think there'd be a problem there. Maybe Aisight and Mike can co-host?

This needs to happen; if it does, this will give more credibility to the smash pro scene, mostly in the eye of the other fighting games communities, which is a very good thing.

There was a smash tourny at EVO last year! It was organized on the spot in less than an hour and managed to get over 30+ entrants! Hook up a setup and people will come!

Brawl side tourney had 16. Me and shilike split. I think melee had 9 and a cali link player won. i don't know melee gamernames

Umm there was one on friday which I missed cause I didn't know about it (Atlus won, J666 2nd, Toph 3rd? I can't remember) and they said they were going to have on one saturday 11 AM (which I posted here) but was very salty to find out that the guy was no where to be seen and I know there would have been a lot more people that would have entered on saturday. Oh well next time

Me and a few other MW people are coming to EVO next year so chances are I will probably put up a thread for it beforehand on both here and SRK and make myself the official host (or collab w whoever wants to lol, I just want something to happen for smash @ evo next year)

How does it work? Do you just 'claim' a few CRTs and say you will be running a tourney? lol

I think you need to speak with someone to set aside some TVs for an event. When I went there Saturday there was only one TV with a Melee setup on it, surrounded by BlazBlue setups.

No, you're actually pretty good. But I'm a lil disappointed with Toph in general. Maybe Toph isn't as good as I think (I don't think he's amazing or anything, I just think he has potential), though.
