I feel teams is even MORE strategic than singles sometimes. You have to be more careful of where you step because there's two people waiting to **** you up. And normal combos become team combos. I agree that it's somewhat hard to watch because there's so much going on.

Teams is amazing, and I'm just sad that people don't take it nearly as seriously.
This reminds me of Halo, people complain about it being that stupid shooter with unrealistic spartans jumping around shooting, but if you watch an MLG match, it is the craziest thing every, insane team coordination is required, trust me, go into an MLG playlist by yourself and you'll find a team to face eventually.

So basically what I'm saying is not enough people care about teams here, it's unfortunate, but maybe we can change that in the coming year or 2

After playing in a tournament again yesterday for the first time in forever, I simply have to reiterate that teams is unbelievably awesome for me. I wonder how many people actually enjoy teams more.

Teams is dumb because unless you have a set partner, it's just too random. Obviously some elements of teams skill is universal, but so much of it is dependent on how two players work together that it becomes a lot less fun when you can't work together properly. I think most people would agree with me when I say the most interesting teams sets are when the players team with each other all the time. I will watch Mango/Lucky, Armada/Aniolas, Shroomed/Alan all the time. I'd rather watch a rusty Wife/Husband team than M2K/some random top player because I just end up watching what M2K does in 1v1 situations, at which point I might as well just watch him play singles.

If you guys want to make teams more popular, the best decision would be to LOWER the entry fee, not raise it. Idk about anyone else, but I never enter teams because I never get to practice it, and thus it's not worth $10 to test my skills that I never get the chance to hone in the first place. If teams was just $5 entry and there was someone my level who wanted to enter with me in future tournaments, I'd probably give it a shot.
It doesn't help that we don't really have anywhere to discuss teams strategies. I'd be all over that.
Is there a guide to high-level teams strategy somewhere on Smashboards? I've never seen one, and if one doesn't exist, it's long overdue imo.

All of these.
Firstly, when it comes to "Saving Teams", whether or not to keep the entry fee high or low depends on who you want to appeal to. People getting the money want high fees, people paying want low fees. So the majority of people would prefer to keep it low... maybe $10 per team or 5 each. At a national like Apex, I think it should be larger, like $20 per team or $10 per person.

And I think the only real reason teams isn't as hyped is because the strategies aren't well known or developed. People need to put work into teams to make it cool and sexy and hype, like they did into singles, so that any Rockenos/other random scrub can go onto Smash Boards, read the information, then practice his *** off.
So, who will rise to the challenge? Who will document team strategies and synergy? Who has the BALLS to say that Jigglypuff is really good in teams? lol

did anyone realize that the version of melee used at apex was 1.0?

I bet that helped plup out a ton

I heard that different versions of the game do different things. So how did the 1.0 version help Plup? And what are some other notable differences with the 1.0 version?

the biggest change is that in 1.0 you CAN'T SDI out of moves that do less than 1% like zelda's smashes and Samus' up-b. so anyone caught in it can't get out early and punish her for it like in later versions

I wonder what would come out of a region strictly focusing on Teams over Singles.

Teams is a bit much to watch and is definitely more entertaining with high-level synergy, but playing Teams is ridiculously fun! :D

A lot of jank isn't as destructive either such as Sheik CGs, Fox waveshining across the stage, Wobbling, etc, which I think results in better character balance overall, though some (like Jigglypuff) are still really good.

I'd definitely want to see Teams become a bigger thing in Melee.

consistent teammates are good also because of hype-building

singles is popular cuz you can be a fan of a specific player--you really like their playstyle or whatever--so you cheer for them when they're playing

it's not so much the case with teams, unless you have consistent teams

it explains why El Chocolate Diablo / Groom Blue / SS+Tang were so popular

I cant count the amount of times Ive won teams without dropping a game and then not getting top 5 in singles. Teams is amazing but no one is good at it except for a select few
:(

whenever i suggest to raise the price for teams i get called greedy :(
