I would say Mei Ling since she is quite simular to Shantae (personality speaking). Cambell is too serious for her and Otacon, while a nerd, he is more a fan of mech animes rather than something like Shantae. That's my take on it.
That makes sense, though I do wonder what Chinese proverb would be used for Shantae. I know that's not a requirement for all of Mei Ling's codecs, but it sounds like a fun thing to think about.

Weird. I mean, I know why we are all antsy about this thing, but I did not realize there was that much buzz. Did we miss a memo or something?
Perhaps it's something less direct. Whether or not a reveal is expected, this is still the first Nindie Direct in Smash speculation season, so maybe the high tension and unknown is affecting things. Does not help that Nintendo fans in general are starved to know what's coming up, Smash or not.
I haven't heard other people saying what you are. Did it really say there's a surprise somewhere, or was that added?

I've never watched an Nindie Direct before, but the possibility of a Shantae announcement is why I'll be tuning into this one.
Pit. It's gonna be Pit.
I dunno, Toon Link seems to have the more similar style, the only thing holding him back is constant grunting being his only way of communication.
The HGH hero sprite style, but I overall think what Shantae is supposed to look like is more similar to the likes of Pit. Even the HGH portraits showcase this despite there much more chibi sprites. Plus, her and Pit just match up more personality wise and with there style of humor.
Palutena. Both of them are celestial beings and strong female characters with a similar sense of humor.

That’s exactly what I have in mind for her neutral special now, back during Smash 4’s run I had it based off the Risky’s Revenge method of holding down the button to switch through forms and automatically perform a single attack for each form, but seeing HGH’s method and how similar it is to the updated Monado arts, it would be perfect to use for Ultimate

Just be glad a character like say Jill isn't playable. or wait she deserves to be in Smash though....

It's more accurate to say that Snake is shipped to every gal fighter. Even the ones that already are in a relationship.
The only real point they have in common other than art style is dungeon crawling with item-based progression. But Pit has also done some dungeon crawling in his older games, in 2D platforming at that. Besides, Toon Link in any incarnation is almost always too busy trying to save a girl he knows.
This is exactly what I think. And if Shantae uses the Pirates Gear, then she likely is gonna have a design inspired by Pirates Curse. There are still obvious stylistic differences, but I could easily see either adapted to the other's style completely and still look pretty similar. Actually, someone should make fan art of that if it has not already been done.

I hope it's Otacon. I like his goofy takes on things and Shantae is a pretty goofy character overall.
I could have sworn we already had a Nindie direct this season? Unless I'm mixing it up with another Indie Showcase?
I would hate it if Shantae got shipped with anyone (though I know people will do it anyway).
