Now that I think about it: Can someone check if the positions of the known characters have changed in that "leaked" image?

I mean in recent official reveals of characters, characters were moved around in that artwork, to make room for the new characters.
Did the same thing happen here?

They're "moved" but the overall size of the characters haven't changed, and there seems to be issues with the shadows of the characters either being gone or altered in weird ways.

It's not 100% consistent with how they've changed the mural in the past, and there's so many layers of "excuse" to this leak that I have a very hard time believing it.

You know what guys I finally come to the point where I don’t mind shantae as an assist or dlc but if she is an assist I will be extremely happy she’s in the game in that form besides she gonna be with SK after so long being absent she would make great dlc for blade strangers if there is any.
But hey we have Isaac geno BANJO!!!!! GUH-HUH!! So that’s sweet and no tony the fire tiger and Steve from minecrap meaning verge is debunked!!!! Yay!! Also remember this assists are considered special guests not humiliating a character also Matt and Erin would be through the roof to see their daughter in the new game as an assist if she is one i had fun/sad/weird times with all of you but it’s time to say goodbye. Members of the ShantaeforSmash-Discord group also said, there was a clear splicing job done.

So at this point it looks like a sloppy edit and the creator is trying to hide it, by making the image blurry, so we can't see the edits clearly.

Also I'm curious as to what promotional material for the Grinch movie this leak supposedly has that's new or can't be found elsewhere, as I've found similar pictures just from googling "Grinch 2018."

Nothing has decomfirmed this leak JUST yet. I say its 50-50 chance. It has a ton of things going for it, but also some stuff against it.

As for those grinch pictures, if this was from a desk from a guy doing promotional art, it makes sense that promotional art will be out this already

I'm a little torn guys.

On the one hand, no Shantae (and not relevant to this thread but no Decidueye). On the other, I'd be super happy for the Isaac, Banjo and Geno fans, all characters that have huge followers. And better yet, no Steve or Incineroar (I know they both have fans but I'd really prefer other characters). AND freaking Mach Bike Rider, which is perfectly obscure and weird.

Not impossible this is an elaborate hoax but the evidence is pretty compelling. Hopefully the fated Direct is soon so we can confirm or deconfirm this leak.

When I zoom in it looks like I see shadows under the characters on the ground, or at least darkened spots on the ground around them. Aren't those shadows?

But people have stated that there's promotional Grinch material here that you can't find elsewhere, which I don't think is the case at all.

This particular person may not be working with those never before seen promotional art, so that doesn't prove it one way or another.

Yup, that is true. We don't know if this is true or fake till EITHER Sakurai shows us news or the leaker comes forward saying its fake

If this leak is indeed real, then it means one of three things:

(1) Shantae is an Assist Trophy character.
(2) Shantae is a regular Trophy or sticker.
(3) Shantae is not in at launch.

Or it's not the final roster and she could potneitally be in base. Just weighing ALL options present.

I don't think this leak is real. You would think that if the person truely thought "**** nintendo" why would he only use a snapchat video to record it? Why would he not take clear pictures of this banner? Of course this is assuming that he doesn't care for himself. In which case, why would he let his name get out? Say that if this leak is real... wouldn't the person's name getting out place his financial situation at risk? Another thought is that if the man is associated with a company which has ties to namco... why isn't it being handled by a company with ties to nintendo? Just a wee thought that might mean nothing, but its worth considering.

TL;DR The main question is, why do something that could only have negative consequences to himself?

In any event, I'll be siding on the team fake side. If it was a super crisp image, then I would have my doubts. I feel like he's hiding edits.

The only part of this that is worth thinking about is the blank battlefield art, everything else has holes.

Do you know who else made a GOOD fake? The guy behind Rayman and the guy behind Palutena(even though the latter turned out real the dude later stated that the "leak" was fake).
