I can't really take a decent quality screenshot, but the most you need to know is "they are irritated with Shantae supporters, and they are following your Twitter account because they feel its cringe-worthy".

I don't see the issue, but these guys want anything they can to complain.

Man, now I just imagine portable TF2. I know it would not be as precise with aiming due to the lack of mouse, but still...

i cant be the only one who finds it comically ironic that Shantae fans get pegged incoherent, illogical, conspiracy theorists but her detractors will grasp at straws like this in attempt to prove her "deconfirmation" (even though there's a very very low chance simply liking a tweet of a drawing that just has smash bros tagged is completely unlikely, especially considering it was reported that Adam Howden, the voice of Shulk, liked numerous tweets explicitly related to super smash bros. and that NDA very clearly wasn't broken despite it being even more explicit and obvious than what wayforward has done here http://i.imgur.com/bcNhM99.png )

but let's not even think about that bit of irony and focus on this:

i love smash like you wouldn't believe, but sometimes i'm just left speechless at this game's community.

I mean, this happens for every single newcomer group. /v/ is unapologetic, and its not supposed to be nice.

No one thinks you are. Your argument was just posed incorrectly. You want Shantae's sexuality to remain as Saving-Sequinland-Sexual (SSS) as do most people. The initial way you worded sounded as though her character and accomplishments would be diminished by her being a lesbian. Food for thought.

Often I find when people are this toxic towards a fan base it's because they see the character as a threat.

Okay Connor and other shantae fans. A few of my pals said this over on the Isaac thread when I asked them about shantaes chances. It’s be nice if any of you would let me know what your take is on these opinions.

But the whole NDA and NCC stuff really irks me. Like the burden of proof falls upon someone making a claim, but these two agreements by nature can’t be proved until the game releases sort of thing. This extends to all characters that use this as something relevant that the voice actor didn’t respond to a tweet or such and such. That’s where so much of the Shantae support goes is that they campaigned for her in Smash and then went radio silent on fans tweeting despite being active as a company.

That could mean everything or absolutely nothing. Those same things don’t even have to apply to Smash Bros as she could appear in something else out of the blue we don’t even know of yet. Or maybe they just gave up on the concept after the campaign wasn’t successful and don’t wish to discuss it further. There are so many reasons that could explain this behavior and I don’t think assuming Smash is the most logical one.

That said, her biggest chance I think oddly lies with Sakurai. It’s possible she checks enough boxes of interest that he decided to make her a playable fighter. And then all of the stuff would fall into line for Smash.

But honestly, if Sakurai doesn’t have a personal interest in Shantae, I think she’s pretty doomed all around. When fans have requested characters like Isaac and Bandanna Dee that require no licensing, Geno whose licensing is pretty much already on board, Banjo who has an infinitely more important tie to Nintendo and so on, I just don’t see her taking priority. Unless somehow indie rep is a serious thing.

Minecraft would seem to be an indie rep, but might be the most gross mistreatment of such a title and I’d hate Steve even more if that’s how he was handled.

She's earned her place in smash, ranking ahead of Geno here makes that much certain, but what place she earned is seriously up for debate. If these projections of mine are accurate, and the poll the percentages came from were all legitamte and reflective of reality, it would not be a shock to me if they had to seriously consider her. But with all that in mind, and shovel knight being ahead of her and in basically the exact same situation, I just can't see it. As painful as that is to say as a fan of the series.

Anyways I really wish you guys luck. My main man Isaac has my heart and soul right now but if I had to pick another it'd be her.

I personally don't agree with really any of them. While many of us do understand Shantae's shortcomings, I still think it isnt wrong to be hopeful.

Also...really, really unpopular opinion... Im not sure it was the greatest idea to post negativity. While I understand you wanted genuine opinions, and that is perfectly fine...it feels kind of weird and kills any sort of mood to have it posted. I know a lot of people dont feel she's that likely, but what they are saying isn't really anything we haven't already seen.

It's kind of like asking a crowd of people who have never played Golden Sun or Super Mario RPG whether or not they think Isaac/Geno are likely, and then letting many Isaac/Geno fans know the results. Yes, its somewhat informative, but it just seems to be overall....negative...and one of the best parts of Smash speculation is about getting excited.
