Not wanting to shake the bad side, but have you been watching the internet about Shantae being in Smash Discussion? (I've been trying to keep myself in the loop, without getting too hype or triggered to avoid salt.)

It varies,

I check Reddit, YouTube, Gamefaq, 4chan and many other places while roaming.

Of course, some info is best left unspoken and only kept to yourself after viewing since it could be possibly troll baiting.

I sincerely hope that Smash is the reason why the Japanese release of Pirate's Curse on Switch was pushed all the way to the end of October.

As nice as it is it doesn't fully fit the art of the game, especially the cloth on Shantae as even on the cartoony characters in Smash the cloth in the renders have visible threads. It also looks a lot more "flat" than the other renders.

Plus I don't know why they'd accidentally upload one image to the site and then turn around and take it down. I doubt the people who run the site even know what's gonna be added to it till after it's been announced.

No, I thought it was already available since it had been localized back in 2015 for 3DS. I thought it came out over there when it did in the States back in March.

I'm not sure why there was a 7-month gap between the two regions.

It is still a Bandai Namco game, and she only voices the custom characters and a side character, so...

She could've possibly voiced Shantae for Smash Ultimate too? I don't know. Chances are somewhat slim, since voice work is normally handled by a 3rd party, so it might not be.

Not, really? Does X Treme Sports being on the3DS Virtual Console, increase it's chances of getting representation in Smash?

It's still really cool that it exists though. :)

Just pointing out that only high-quality retro titles get a VC re-release.

How are AT-characters chosen?

OH DEAR GOD! What happened here? Oh the 103 stage thing? Wouldn't worry about it. I really wouldn't.

Firstly, wasn't this the same magazine that promoted 108 and now they're saying 103? Sorry but even if that 2nd number is right, they are now unreliable. That is a fact.

Secondly even if it was 103 or 104, it changes nothing. A lot of our rivals are from returning franchises. And if Ridley and King K Rool didn't get a new stage, you can be sure as cement that Bandana Dee or Geno won't either. The only two who goes stages were Inkling and Simon. That speaks volume.

It's clear this time around new stages are for new franchises with Zelda and Mario obviously getting their slice of the cake. Pretty sure that is in a Smash rules list (To Sakurai - "MUST HAVE ZELDA AND MARIO STAGE")

Thirdly, Base game is half the battle. We had 1.5-2 years of DLC with this game. That is definitely going to happen with Switch. If anything, we've only done 7 months of a 2 year journey.

Finally, even if Isaac isn't in Smash Ultimate, who cares? He's now a Frontrunner! All it will take is one Smash Ballot after Ultimate and Isaac will get his spot. The Ballot worked for the ones so far due to awareness and popularity. Isaac has that now on a huge scale. Our fight is just beginning.

This happened over at the Isaac thread. I only want you guys to see it because even if there is only 103 stages, hope is still high. I stand by this guy completely.

Not sure, I would bet that it's based on if said character is better realized as an Assist rather than a Fighter.

There is one criteria I know of. And it's primarily based on having a moveset that makes sense to the character, but is also realizable or at least a high-demand character. Then they have a chance to come in as an Assist Trophy.

Is Shantae a "high-demand character" compared to Isaac and Geno, and does she have a moveset that makes sense for her?
