Here’s the aftermath of the one AniMana21 fanart I posted yesterday, (please forgive me Dylly):
View attachment 169899
Luigi probably vacuumed up her head and launched it at something, after which it fell into a Kinetic Orb Cannon and got launched to Eggman's newly rebuilt Veg-O-Fortess, and when that exploded it got sent into a painting and smacked into a witch, causing her and her paint dimension to collapse, at which point Bounce Man found it and played around with it in his lair until Megaman blasted him and now he's trying to figure out where it came from.

Ridiculous voyaging aside, it would be cool to see team puzzle solving with Luigi's vacuum and Rotty's teleportation.

Witch? Paint dimension? Clearly, you are thinking of Drawcia.

...that’s um...creative, I’ll give you that.

Though not gonna lie, I did have some ideas for what they could’ve done with another Luigi’s Mansion game.

And now my minds taking to formulate ideas for a Shantae/Luigi’s Mansion crossover, thanks meleebrawler meleebrawler

So it would actually involve Mario being Luigi’s player 2 this time around as the two of them would take on a massive mansion together with Luigi taking the lead and showing his brother the ropes.

Main conflict would start with Bowser Jr. breaking into E Gadd’s lab and releasing King Boo and his Boo army. E Gadd is forced to go into hiding as King Boo decides to target him (having different plans for Mario this time) and Jr. takes over his lab and inventions. E Gadd would still communicate with the bros hopping through different frequencies and remotely try to take back control of his inventions.

Well, there could always be something to do with Hypno Baron's Castle in a Luigi's Mansion/Shantae crossover.
Although, watching Luigi suck up Ikki, would be tortuous. She's so adorable. :(

Also, there is actually some Luigi/Ikki art! :D

I get the feeling Daisy might have a few words for Ikki there (ya know after she’s done stomping Death into submission for what happened to Luigi in the first place)

so we got Shulk for todays fighter on the blog. Interesting note is that it says Shulk is keeping his swim trunks outfit. I think that means its safe to say the ZSS outfits are still in which in turn means Shantae's outfit will be fine

If necessary, her Pirate's Curse vest should help...even if I don't much care for covering up the goodies, so to speak. Censorship sucks in any form.

I didn't know that was still a debate to be honest. Shantae comes from a children's video game at the end of the day, the game's have "Everyone" ratings, so it shouldn't be deemed as inappropriate for Smash. I've casually seen the series promoted on the E-shop and elsewhere by Nintendo so I doubt they have an issue. I'm sure if and when DLC comes around, Rex and Pyra are going to be prioritized choices and I don't see them making a great effort to cover up Pyra for whatever reason. Though if you'll see a costume liked the imprisoned Shantae........yeah that's yet to be seen lol.

Look at this video with all the evidence to Shantae for Smash.
Wayforward's proposed costumes? Shantae's ULTIMATE slumber party that brings in EVERYONE? Wayforward being quiet about Shantae for Smash since 2015 when the roster was decided? Her high ranking in the Smash Ballot? An Indie Assist Trophy? A rumor about Sakurai going to Canada? I'm pretty much convinced we will be getting Shantae in.

A very common misconception people have about this game is that Sakurai said he took data from the ballot, he never said he would choose from the top 20 or top 50 or whatever third number, most popular character voted for on the ballot. Even if the character was in reason, he never stated that's how it works. I'm sure characters like Richter and Simon are well loved, but as a fan of the series I've never heard large amounts of request for either of them. What does this mean? A character probably only had to do really well, and get shown good support to be considered for the game. This is one of the reasons why you will NEVER know the results of that ballot at least on Nintendo's part. While the ballot most likely played a huge part in Sakurai's decision, at the end of the day that's what it is....his decision.
I believe Sakurai is just using the Smash Ballot data as his menu of what characters to choose from to put in the game.

WayForward's headquarters is located in California not Canada.

I don’t think “children’s video game” is the right term to describe this series all things considered, plus they’re rated E10+ to T, (the GBC was originally E but E-shop releases re-rated it to E10+) But I still think her design is alright enough to portray in Smash, at worse maybe a slight bit of alternation to her top but I don’t see it being too much of an issue

When Tifa's available, there's no reason to fit anyone else in ;p
(altho if tifa's playable im ok with it XD)
Personally I’d like to see Terra if FF has the chance to add another rep.

yeh she's my first choice too :)

Not that I believe the theory that only ff7 could have more reps, but in that scenario, I'd vote for tifa (even if yuffie is my personal fave).
I may even make a quick support page for fun.

Welp, not exactly news, but something exciting nontheless.
Here, let me repost:

Introduction:
Hey guys, I know this is yesterday's news and is off topic for the current discussion, but I just wanted to stop by the thread and say how much I appreciated this video! It was super informative about what a hardcore Shantae fan thinks about her chances in Smash and it was an overall great watch. I wanted to talk about some of the points that the video made, as I'm someone who doesn't go to this thread too often.

Points I Agreed With:
I really do think that Jammies Mode from Half-Genie Hero and WayFoward's silence are definitely the biggest red-flags you guys have. I knew about WayForward's awkward silence before the video but, at the time, I still didn't think too much of it. After watching this video, it really made me feel the significance of how WayFoward went from one of the, if not, the most vocal 3rd party companies that wanted their character voted for in the Smash Ballot to oddly going silent around Q3/Q4 2015; which would most likely be the start ideas of what the Smash Ultimate's Roster would look like.

Jammies Mode as a whole just seems too suspicious. You can argue that it was just an homage to Smash Ultimate, but you'd have to base the whole plot for the DLC has a reference to the E3 Smash Bros. Ultimate section, which doesn't seem very practical to do. Having a whole DLC mode seems like a bit much to hint at Shantae's inclusion in Smash, but it is a concept I could definitely see from a company who was very passionate about adding Shantae into Smash. There are too many hints in this game mode to brush off as coincidences.

Points I Didn't Agree With:
This video was honesty great for informing people that don't know about Shantae and I appreciate all the information I learned. However, I will admit that there were numerous times where stretching for hints at Shantae was involved. The points I can think of are the 60k Twitter Follower Post, the game being rated E10+ like Shantae's games, Daisy is probably looking at Shantae in the Ultimate Poster & including a rumor of Sakurai going to California; even if the latter can't be proven as false either, that doesn't exactly prove that it's true, or prove anything in that matter.

Another point I really felt like I had to stretch was Shantae being based Zelda, like how Bayonetta and Cloud were based on Zero-Suit Samus and Ike. Even though they share characteristics, with that logic, you can start making arguments that an Advance Wars character could be based off of Snake, or situations similar to that. While that isn't the realm of possibilities and it could happen, that doesn't count as evidence towards a character's inclusion.

This final point is one I feel 50/50 about, and it's honestly a controversial one. It's the idea that the photo of Diddy Kong and Bayonetta wall climbing on Alolan Exeggutor is a reference to the minigame Shantae's NAB! in WarioWare: D.I.Y. Which seems like a astronomical stretch, but it also feels like it could be a well hidden reference/hint towards Shantae. It's just too compelling to me to just completely brush off as "wishful thinking". I think this photo could definitely be coincidence, but I could easily see it as a reference of sorts.

Overall "evidence":
Even though I just ragged on about all the points I didn't see eye to eye with, I think that there is always stretching done whenever a hardcore fan wants there character in Smash. The Rathalos Picture for Issac and the Furniture matching Skull Kid attire's are concepts that come to mind when this happens. However, there is some evidence to counter that those are just coincidental.

A good example is that the Rathalos Picture could easily be a reference to Monster Hunter and the different weapon types for Hunters, but the photo is taken in a way that seems to be referencing Golden Sun. The counter for that Rathalos Picture is that Golden Sun recently got it's trademark renewed on August 24th of this year, when the series trademark wasn't going to expire soon. That makes the coincidence of The Rathlos Picture seem way more likely, because now it's backed by official information.

Another example of this is the fact that Skull Kid's assist trophy is gone and the fact that we still haven't seen Young Link's Final Smash? Can you really say that this is a stretch when Robin's Final Smash hasn't been seen and that Isabelle's Assist Trophy disappeared, and those resulted in Chrom becoming playable and Isabelle arriving as a newcomer. I don't think these coincidences are going to keep stacking up without it leading up to some big event involving these characters...

And that's how I also feel now with Shantae. Yes, there is stretching for her, but WayFoward's silence is overbearing and the Jammies Mode is reeking of foreshadowing. I think that Shantae, along with Issac and Skull Kid, have a lot of "evidence" being thrown towards them and seem extremely likely to be playable. They all have hints and coincidences that are just stacking up too ominously at an alarming rate. I do think that Shantae is in the game, Playable or Assist Trophy. However, like Issac and Skull Kid, it doesn't make sense to make her an Assist Trophy with all of this information that now stands.

Finale:
All in all, this is a great video and I'd definitely recommend it to everyone who is unfamiliar with Shantae and why she seems so likely to be playable. I'm sorry this post was so long, and I hope you guys weren't confused at any points. If you were, just let me know, and I'll do my best to clarify any shortcomings I might've had when writing this post!

Hey, I haven't been around and have been busy until tonight. Just showing this off before bed. I finished it, but I couldn't really use the same style as the mural did. I enjoy WayForward's style anyway.

Also, I have uploaded what the hip bump may look like next to a certain princess...

Thanks for your fair take on it all. Tho I do feel there is an important part about Jammies mode that you might have missed.

You can say it's just a fan reference to Smash Ultimate, but the problem with that is that it released only a few weeks after Ultimate was revealed. As in, people not working on Smash didn't know the game was going to be called Ultimate or that the tag line "Everyone is here" would be a key phrase for the game.

If Wayforward didn't know about Smash Ultimate, then when they were scripting and programming Jammies mode all they would have known about the next Smash game would be what everyone else saw in the Inkling reveal teaser. So their plot about putting together the "ultimate" party where "everyone" was invited would have had to have been an amazing coincidence.

Most of these points don't mean much on their own, but all of them happening all around the same time makes things very suspicious.

For me, Jammies mode is an almost guarantee that the folks at Wayforward had some advanced knowledge about Ultimate. But that could just be evidence that she is an assist like Shovel Knight. And that's where the second most important point comes in: Her exclusion from all the indie fighter games.

She has guest starred in many indie games, so we know WF and Matt aren't against the idea, so why not any of the three indie fighting games? We know that indie pogo asked to use her and were turned down, and Blade Strangers made a public statement saying they would love to have her but it would be up to WF and Matt, yet there has been no statement further on that. Having her in these games would only be more money and exposure for them and they wouldn't have to do any of the work, so why not have her in?

Shovel Knight is in all of these games and is an assist trophy in Ultimate, so if the reason for her not being in them is Smash related, then it would mean her inclusion in Smash would have to be a bigger deal than SK's inclusion if she had extra limitations. So this plus Jammies is what makes me almost certain that she is playable in the base roster or planned as DLC.

While we're on the subject of certain keywords being used....I think something with Sonic is going to happen in Smash Bros. Anyone ever noticed the tagline? I feel like there are hints being thrown everywhere and I have no way of proving it. :I

Sorry but this means nothing. This exact same tagline was used for the first Sonic Mania trailer 2 years ago at a Sonic anniversary event.

I know lol. Not to get too off track from the main topic, but it was around the same time that Ultimate's roster was being decided anyway. Even Sonic's render in this game has a near identical pose to that in Mania and Forces. Its strange for sure that's all.

Shantae as assist trophy does not make sense to me. I think Sakurai choice Shovel Knight because Shantae was way more unique of personality and character.

And theres so much Shantae Smash foreshadowing.

Well that pose is based off of concept art from Sonic 1 so it's not that surprising.

I think it's less obvious than Shantae's multiple usages. Because, ultimately, Sonic is a legendary gaming figure, and it could be pretty appropriate to call his newest 2D adventure the "ultimate celebration of past and future". Shantae, regrettably, is not necessarily close to being legendary. At least not in the way Sonic is.

Sonic's been in since brawl, so i dont think it matters, unless you want to compare tails an shantae. But what's the point there :p
Words are words. Let's just wonder if there really was more than just coincidence when it came to jammies mode (and maybe even ultimate edition). heh

All of the jammies mode stuff? I think it's still all possible that it's coincidence, but sure there's a good bit of it, so it might mean something :)
(If it's intentional, I feel like it'd make more sense for hinting at playable rather than AT. Why bother leaving hints like that just for the latter?)

Also, if the mode got partly inspired by smash inclusion, I wonder if the part about saying that the Ultimate slumber is party being moved to Risky's ship could maybe be taken as a hint for that being a stage.

Yeah, I get the feeling that he isn't going down the list and adding the characters in that order for sure. I think the important thing is by making it an international affair we're seeing characters that have been passed over before and in more ways than one.

I think the Ballot is responsible for Krystal as an Assist trophy (one using her staff at that) given the rest of the Star Fox Series went Star Fox Zero.
