And yeah, the wait for this direct is getting WAY too long haha!

Personally I'm a bit tired of speculating without any new info coming... After everything we gathered (which is a lot ), we are running out of new clues/hints to discuss. The "strong" soon-to-be directs leaks are going down one by one which leaves us even more in the dark ( which is a good thing because leaks suck ).

I think that she'd be likely if there were a lot of slots left, but there aren't. Simply put, I believe Dark Lord Vergeben and that Ken, Incineroar, and possibly Steve and Geno (or Sora) are the final newcomers. Seeing how Shovel Knight fell into the Assist Trophy pitfall, it's very possible that she's gonna suffer the same fate. Given all of the evidence we have, I fully believe she's in the game in some regard. However, all of the hard evidence is either debunked, able to have some other explanation not involving Smash, or able to point to her being an Assist Trophy. I think there's a an 80% chance she's an Assist Trophy, a 19% chance she's a fighter, and a 1% chance she doesn't appear in the game at all, and more importantly, survives to be DLC.

Edit: INB4 people bash me for pessimism.

It's really just a small courtesy that would go a long way. At least leave things open to other perspectives, especially since you actually want shantae (or so you claim)

Ah, I didn't mean for it to be insulting! My mistake. What I'm saying is that everything about Pokemon works in conjunction. Things like the anime begin their planning and development phase WAY before we see even the first trailer, this is why Ho-oh was in the first episode of the Pokemon anime even though Pokemon Gold and Silver didn't come out till years after.

When it comes to Pokemon in Smash, it works the same way. Lucario was likely decided to become the promotional Pokemon for the next generation when we were all still learning about Mudkip and Torchic. It takes a lot of time to make an entire animated movie after all. Therefore, saying X Pokemon is in BECAUSE of the anime isn't quite right, rather X Pokemon was decided to be in both Smash and the anime years before either of these things were shown to us. There's no denying the anime has a huge effect on Pokemon's presentation as a whole, but that's because both the anime and the games work in tandem to sell us whatever Gamefreak/TCPI is trying to pawn off.

This is why Incineroar has such a strong case even if I personally can't stand it it has mixed reception among fans. Two signature moves, a spot as the rival in the movie that came out before Gen 7, is the starter Pokemon of the Pokemon Special manga for Alola, got the ability and stats that make it #1 in VCG, plenty of appearances in the anime and merch outside of it (namely Pokemon cards). If Incineroar gets in Smash, it will be because it was decided way back before we even knew of the first form Alolan starters, because TCPI wanted to promote it right out of the gate. This is kind of a bad thing because even if the fans choose another Pokemon they like way better (Mimikyu and Rowlet consistently poll way better than Ininceroar) we're getting the less popular Pokemon because of marketing and promotion.

Speaking of which, so I was watching someone play through Officer Mode, and I dunno if it’s just me, but does anyone else find Twitch to be absolutely adorable?

I mean all the girls are cute in their Holligan Sisters costumes (and I’m glad we have a glimpse at Sky’s hair) but something about Twitch just stands out to me.
