We'll see if the stars align soon. To be fair, barely anybody who's leaking the game knows about, or has bothered to mention, that Shantae's in the game, let alone playable.
The anime gives me a nostalgia boner I can't quite get off. For pokemon, I think the picks are based in large part off of the anime.
This is why I'm hoping the next main pokemon game adds some new Gen 2 mega evolutions or new forms. I want my Mega Meganium ;~;

Yeah, it make sense that it'll be sometime in not that long,.. but we can't really know what the timeframe is, since we dont know entirely what's their intents.
Pikachu was chosen as the mascot before the anime began airing, it was up between Pikachu and Clefairy but Pikachu was more "boy friendly", there's an ongoing manga with a Clefairy as "Red"'s starter Pokemon though.
It was part this and partially because she had an identical skeleton to Kirby, making her a pretty low effort joke addition, if you look at the two of them in 64 you'll notice Jigglypuff has a ton of shared animations with Kirby, and still does today.
Mewtwo was the first last boss of the series, but saying it got in Smash because of the movie is kind of out there considering it's status as a legendary.
I have literally never heard of this before today. Them all being final forms doesn't even make sense from a character design standpoint. It's way more likely PT having a first, middle and final form was the plan from the beginning due to it fitting the gimmick of representing evolition way better. I also simply cannot see Venusaur as a proper fighter.
Lucario was chosen as Gen 4's poster Pokemon, it got a cameo in Gen 3's PMD as the ultimate rank, then a movie, then appeared in nearly all Gen 4 promotional material, had an NPC ingame (Riley) who gave you a Riolu egg and finally was used by Cynthia in the last battle. Ingame it had unique typing, a signature move, and amazing base stats, it was SUPPOSED to be strong, cool and powerful. Gamefreak deliberately chose to put it in Smash because they were banking on it selling merchandise.
You have it backwards, things appear in the anime because Gamefreak/TCPI wants them to be popular both in and out of the game. This is the main reason people can see why Incineroar would be the Pokemon rep if we get one. TCPI has given it multiple spotlight episodes in the anime as if to say "Hey! Incineraor is popular! Buy his figures! Buy his Pokemon card deck!", if he gets in Smash it will be because of TCPI dictating so, not because of the anime. The anime has been used as a promotional vehicle for the games since like...Gen 2.
I think that she'd be likely if there were a lot of slots left, but there aren't. Simply put, I believe Dark Lord Vergeben and that Ken, Incineroar, and possibly Steve and Geno (or Sora) are the final newcomers. Seeing how Shovel Knight fell into the Assist Trophy pitfall, it's very possible that she's gonna suffer the same fate. Given all of the evidence we have, I fully believe she's in the game in some regard. However, all of the hard evidence is either debunked, able to have some other explanation not involving Smash, or able to point to her being an Assist Trophy. I think there's a an 80% chance she's an Assist Trophy, a 19% chance she's a fighter, and a 1% chance she doesn't appear in the game at all, and more importantly, survives to be DLC.
Heh, I'd find it quite funny if in the end if it turned out to be a different Wayforward character entirely. It'd be one of the the biggest trolls ever.

s guide to the thread....1. Text leaks are always fake.
2. Until real, substantiable, and easily verifiable evidence is provided for any leak, consider them to be fake.
3. If there is reasonable doubt about the credibility or verifiability of a leak or leaker, then it's always best to air on the side of "false".
3. Not all "evidence" has the same weight. Some have more value than others, and every peice of "evidence" should be discussed to determine its worth.
4. Shantae's inclusion (or exclusion) from Smash Ultimate in any form should not reflect negatively on WayForward/Nintendo or any employee therein.
5. Don't make this thread the center of your life.
6. Check your headspace. If you can't handle dissapointment or hype, you probably shouldn't frequent this thread.
7. If you want to leave, don't attempt to bring people down with you. It has been seen to only cause problems.
8. Remember that this is a Shantae support thread, and it is an apparent rarity on the internet. Unwarranted pessimism only makes people upset. If you'd like to discuss why Shantae is not in Smash, you could simply look literally anywhere else on the internet and you'll find plenty of people with the same opinion. We know we could be blindly hoping for a character that wont happen, but frankly we don't care.

Ah, I didn't mean for it to be insulting! My mistake. What I'm saying is that everything about Pokemon works in conjunction. Things like the anime begin their planning and development phase WAY before we see even the first trailer, this is why Ho-oh was in the first episode of the Pokemon anime even though Pokemon Gold and Silver didn't come out till years after.
