Well the possibility of her being an AT is there, unfortunately, and anyone should be welcome as long as they're not trolling, but I dunno, this thread seems to keep popping between optimism and pessimism. Is strange.

And this is character discussion, but we're at the point where not a whole lot more can be discussed unless there's either
A: A major slip-up from Nintendo, WayForward, or Matt; which is unlikely
or
B: The next Nintendo Direct/smash related thing.

Even tho I am getting a little sick of all the leaks. There's so many and it's kinda annoying :/
Not anything posted here, just in general, and I guess part of that is that it's really the only thing happening right now in the Smash speculation scene so it's just "BIG LEAK THIS LEAK REVEALED THIS" but like 90% of them seem like they're flat out wrong, and they keep popping up in my YouTube feed, and for some reason people act like these are fact... I just find it kinda silly and kinda tiring, I dunno.

He said that we would be getting everybody back from Smash Wii U/3DS in the roster for Smash Ultimate, yep he leaked the name of the game. He said Ridley and Daisy will be newcomers that will be revealed at E3, he said Simon Belmont and Isabelle are in the game who are all now confirmed. The remaining characters he leaked that haven't been confirmed yet are Ken, Incineroar, and a Square Enix rep that he isn't sure who it is yet.

Because you don't provide us anything interesting relating to Smash with all the 4chan leaks and everything else to make it seem that Shantae will not get in as anything more than an AT.

I want to make a point on the fact of Shantae not appearing in any fighting games.

It would be totally out of character for WF to suddenly be overprotective of their IP like that. Seeing as they have let Shantae appear in other types of games and seeing as they are very encouraging of Fan Art. And they are very responsive to fans on twitter, except concerning smash. They even gave away jammies mode for free. It seems odd too me that they have show enthusiastic willingness to please the fans but would then refuse to allow her in Any indie fighting games despite the fans desperatly wanting her.

While they arent as permissive as YCG has been with Shovel Knight, who by the way will show up at your grandmas Birthday Party if you ask YCG. They have hardly have been proven to be the dragon sitting on the pile of gold that opponents of the NCC theory try and claim.

However, it is totally in Nintendo and sakurais character to be the Dragon sitting on the pile of gold. It was revealed that Retro games wanted to bring back king k. Rool but they were denied because sakurai wanted to be the one to bring him back. Also solid snake didnt appear in Playstation allstars because he was already in smash. So i could totally seeing Sakurai wanting to be the one to Debut Shantae in a fighting game. And thus insist WF be placed under an exclusivety agreement.

Finally, it pains me to see people denouncing their support of WayForward if Shantae ends up being an Assist. I know I'm guilty of doing the same thing but with Smash, but I can admit I'm wrong for thinking like that. I just want to help people ground their expectations just in case she is an AT. Please don't hate me for trying to reduce the amount of potential fallout.

Speaking of FCorrin, something I never noticed till seeing this render is that if you look right belwo her right knee, she actually does seem to have her armor set up for her thigh gap, they just decided to change the texture to a black rubbery looking one instead of skin.
Makes me wonder if they made her with the thigh window, but then decided to censor it later on.

Maybe there could be hope they at least don't WANT to censor anything if Shantae got in. They may just have to due to the ESRB's sometimes really dumb, arbitrary rules.

Yes, Cloud getting in Smash was an olive branch, sure. But for me the Olive branch ought have been made first, FF7 should have made it onto a Nintendo console in some form, and THEN Cloud could have been invited to Smash.

The way they did it it would have been like Bayonetta getting into Smash and then years later and on the next console Bayonetta 1 made it to Nintendo and Bayo 2 never happened. People would have said it was stupid and undeserving. The only reason people didn't mind with Cloud was because people love FF7 more than they care about if he really deserved it.

He is an important character, but he isn't and important to Nintendo character. Not yet anyway.

This has never been a rule. Sakurai has stated that he wants this to be the biggest character game ever, he said he wants third partys have to be a iconic game characters that carry game history (Bayonetta is the only one in purely due to her association with Nintendo) , and Sakurai said he doesn't care about the console wars. The most he said is that he might reconsider if the character hasn't been on a Nintendo console at all. Cloud is the most popular FF character, and RPG character in general, he deserves to be in. Yes I think we should have third party characters who are so close to Nintendo that they are practically, but they should also be incredibly iconic characters that celebrate gaming history as a whole.

Prima leak is trash for several reasons. The "proof" the leaker sent out was a completely different roster render, which makes it seem like a troll. If you think Nintendo would pick Vault Boy over a Skyrim rep, you're nuts.

Not a travesty at all. If everyone involved with videogames said their character won't be in, we wouldn't have too much trouble figuring out the roster. We wouldn't have any of the drama here if everyone stopped acting like Shantae has a 100% chance of being in the game and freaking out when anything lowers that to more realistic chances.

The only reason I said I wouldn't play a Shantae game ever again if she becomes a Assist Trophy is because of the Jammies mode hints. If those hints are referencing her in Smash as a Assist Trophy instead of a fighter, it would basically be like WayForward giving the middle finger to fans and I strongly don't think they would tease her like that just for her to be a Assist Trophy.

It's either she's in the game as a fighter or she's not in the game at all.

Agreed, Strongley teasing her as an assist trophy in Jammies mode after aggressevly campaigning for her to be a PLAYABLE fighter and knowing very well her fans want her as a FIGHTER Makes Zero sense and of course would understandably upset many of them.

Hell, jammies mode even hinted at a possible Risky's ship stage.

You didnt see YCG make any smash references before SK was revealed.

But I had some really stressful interactions with a few people.

It seems there are a lot of people here who doubt Forgive's leaks.
Yet it was only me who received backlash for it.
At least I didn't see anyone else getting harassed for it...

And since the argument was "If you want to stop getting harassed, leave", I did exactly that, for the sake of my own health.
It might not be easy to convey this via text, but harsh and toxic comments really take a toll on me.
So I figured leaving and being a silent supporter, would be the best course of action to take.

Just making clear that it isn't the whole group. Far from it!
But just the few obnoxious types here can be enough of a deterrent, depending on how I'm feeling.

And since english isn't my mother tongue, that further complicates things, as I might have a different understanding on some words, than you native speakers do.

I think that what upsets some people is that there's so many leaks and other stuff that should be taken with a grain of salt but yet the pessimism sometimes latchs on to those possibilities as if it might be the case. There is no way to confirm or deconfirm unless it comes from WF or Nintendo, so it's better to trust a little more..

Especially that we are Shantae supporters, and want to believe in her inclusion in smash, so it makes little sense to jump the gun with these leaks if we want to continue hoping for and supporting shantae for smash, don't you think TOY the Gamer ?

I know some people want to save themselves from being disappointed if she doesnt make it in (or is an AT), but I know I and many others would like to approach things with good possibility too.
It doesn't mean someone can't post stuff like leaks and it be discussed, but when the attitude is that it deconfirms her already, without the discussion, it can be a little tiring to see.

Has anyone here considered that maybe the reason why Shantae isn't in Blade Strangers and Indie Pogo? Because she might be in the upcoming Switch port of Skullgirls.

After all, the lead artist of that game is great friends with WayForward (which is why she they made the art for Half-Genie Hero), so she might be in that instead of the other games. That's still a wild card on the table, think about it.

If they are such good friends, why would the Skullgirl devs not let WayForward use Shantae in any other fighting games?
After all, Shovel Knight appeared in all of them and nobody did mind.

The Skullgirl devs just don't strike me as the type, who would force exclusivity.


Nintendo on the other hand, knows no mercy when it comes to this.
I can easily see them forcing exclusivity for maximum profit.
So an NDA and NCC makes more sense in that context.
