"Doy: Disdainful indication that something is obvious." -Wiktionary

Word uttered by Rottytops in response to Sky describing a memory that the former already had a big hand in. At every opportunity she's the first to question or otherwise belittle Sky's intelligence, in contrast to Bolo who just rolls with it despite his own annoyance with being a follower. But in light of her dialogue prior to the battle with Nega-Shantae and her own lack of constructive ideas on how to proceed, it's clear that she's really envies that in Sky, being painfully aware of the problems caused by her own short-sightedness.

While we should NEVER stop fighting for Shantae, We should entertain and prepare for all possible outcomes.
So, given what happened last time, which of the other sexy third party ladies could get in over her? I can think of the following:

Lara Croft
Either Kasumi or Ayane (if she comes with Ryu Hayabusa)
Morrigan
Mai Shiranui (and that's only IF Terry Bogard gets in too)

Look. There were 14 newcomers in Melee, 16 in Brawl if you don't count the Pokemon Trainer's Pokemon grouped together, and 19 in Sm4sh if you count the Miis as a single entity. We're currently at 9 newcomers, counting the new Echo Fighters, 5 if you don't. There's no way we're going to have fewer newcomers than there were characters in the original Smash Bros.

I just take any opportunity to discuss something interesting I notice in the series. Helps keep the mind off unhealthy speculation.

I'm also of the mind that Shantae's mother was the one described by the Pirate Master as the "fire-spouting hothead".

Not to sound like a party-pooper, but I'm gonna try to state their chances.
Lara Croft (currently owned under SquareEnix) : Not even possible, due to Geno's far more rampant popularity in the Ballots.
Kasumi or Ayane (currently owned by Tecmo) : Both of them are Dead or Alive characters, but even then, they're highly unlikely due to Ryu Hayabusa being a retro character and possible other characters that I don't know about.
Morrigan of Darkstalkers (series currently owned by Capcom) : Pretty unlikely, but one of the most likely. Unlikelihood is due to the potential of more Street Fighter reps, most likely of which is Ken Masters.
Mai Shiranui (currently owned by SNK) : Also one of the most likely ones, however, I wouldn't really know a proper King of Fighters aside from Terry Bogard, but I have little to no knowledge of this series to properly judge.
That's my take on them.

I could also believe the her mother being songbird considering Shantae’s singing voice, or rather her actress’s singing voice, plus her having an affinity for music might contribute to her strong rhythm with her dancing.

How does everyone feel about the theory that the messenger of the genies could be her mother?

No ones better than our girl

Plus sakurai is taking fan request so I highly doubt they will be there.

He LITERALLY told us not too expect too many newcomers. If you count the returning veterans that they had to build from the ground up, we are already reaching the numbers from previous titles, and Brawl and Smash 4 even had cuts!

Everyone seems to say we should ignore what Sakurai said because of the massive blowout of characters from the Smash Direct... but even Sakurai OBVIOUSLY doesn't count Echo Fighters, the proof is in how the Smash website lists them. So we got two fighters in that Direct, realistically, and five total so far. Seven sounds like a pretty solid number all things considered.

The more I think about it, the more I believe that they probably have nothing to announce in October since we just had a full Smash Direct and a Nintendo Direct. I am willing to go all in on my bet that we have one final Smash Direct in November that will give us our last two unique fighters and whatever Echoes.

Does this mean Shantae has no chance? Not really, considering Sora is realistically extremely difficult to get rights to, and Banjo is owned by Microsoft who I could very much see asking too much for Smash.

No she has a great chance also she’s the easiest to get her rights judging by wayforward being smash fanboys they’ve wanted her in since the ballot was announced and been very vocal about it and judging by their scilence and not apering in indie fighting games it looks like she made it in and sakurai might have called dibs on her just like krool and the posible nda/ncc so don’t loose hope! THAT INCLUDES EVERYONE ELSE ON THIS THREAD SO DONT YOU DARE LOOSE HOPE!!!!

And stop talking about the box theory that theory is bs were getting more than two more.

And I say AGAIN. There is no way in heaven or hell that Sakurai will include fewer unique newcomers than there were characters in the original game.

While I don't think Lara is getting in, I have to disagree here.

Geno may be more popular within Smash fandom, but Lara is an infinitely more recognizable character outside of that. She's the protagonist of her series, a long-running series that is still active and well-received by fans and critics alike, and one of the most iconic female characters in gaming.

If Geno didn't have this incredibly strange Smash fandom, no one would be considering him. But Lara? That's not an unreal possibility for the future. We know the ballot isn't everything considering Simon and Isabelle are in.

Hollywood decided to jump ship which is pretty sad. He's one of the first people to actually do that, and I hope that he is also the last.

And yes, I can see the Fire Inkling in your signature. :)
Ok, well that's not too bad, he was already almost set on not believing in her.
I'll read back on some of the pages. Lemme know if my sig is too big or bright, I'm willing to remove the new part if it hurts people's eyes lol.

Are we really certain about that? With Isabelle, I can see that realistically, but Simon Belmont? He got in because his fans really wanted him in. Heck, I'm actually feeling certain that Simon and Richter Belmont were high-placers in the Ballot in their respective regions, so Sakurai added both of them in, one as the Original and the other as the Echo.
Also, I'm gonna say something highly controversial and state that there's gonna be no new Pokemon fighter in this one. Because I feel that they would have at least shown them off during either the E3 conference or the Smash Direct of August 8th. And that the entire "pokemon company gets special treatment" schtick is as stable as the WayForward NDAs, in that it's solid enough, but they could also be non-existent.

Your signature's lovely, and I like the new addition to it. It's very colourful, and I like colourful things. It's not at all bad on the eyes, it's actually very aesthetically pleasing. You don't need to change it at all.

I can get Simon(His iconic nature is what got him in), but I always figured she was at least decently popular in the ballot, and she did get the mii costume.

I definitely agree on the Belmonts being requested. Only reason I didn't vote for Simon in the ballot was because I thought he was a lock and my heart already was set on a hairwhipping genie girl from Scuttle Town.

That still doesn't explain Richter.

Even though I did hear that Richter is actually more iconic than Simon in Japan, so they probably put in both to please both cultures.

I actually said that when I tried to explain why Simon/Richter was in Smash, because Simon was undoubtedly popular in the States and Europe, while Richter was more popular in Japan.
While this will be my little dance if even one of my ****ty conspiracies is good, we should all be mad that this exists more than "oh, stupid theories" and "oh, the company liked a tweet".

If I recall, I think Sakurai did explain why he put Richter in, I just can't recall what it exactly was.

I wonder how shaken up other smash fans are, it must be hard to know what to believe in when a lot of people gave credit to leaks, who named more characters, and now this new thing is making them doubt that. I hope they just question everything. And if they have trouble seeing past it, that they look to the dlc phase for more characters. :surprised: I still think it's not worth putting too much into it. and staying open. :)
Just commenting around the pages from last night.

A lot of Simon's moveset is made from moves that debuted via Richter. They probably decided "a lot of these moves are Richter moves so we might as well put him in as an Echo".

The box theory Unfortunately looks legit. It's looking like there is only one new non-echo character left and it's probably not Shantae. But I definitely don't believe it's inceniroar like everyone has been assuming for some reason. It's probably going to be another semi-clone like Dixie.

What other characters do people ITT care about getting into the roster, or have you already had any characters get in?

For me it was K Rool, Ridley, and Simon (in that order) so I'm literally just waiting on Shantae and I've got everyone I want :smirk:

Why are we still on this? It's not a box. It's a computer generated mock up of a box that won't be finalized until December.
