Actually, I saw a lot of people clamoring for Simon back during the Ballot days. He wasn't a chart topper by any means but he did show up in fan-polling from time to time and a lot of people either gave up on Snake and moved to him or just legitimately wanted him because he's basically a Nintendo legacy series ala Metroid (even though he's a 3rd party character).

Isabelle could have been a silent majority. It's possible she was voted on by casuals and maybe even had a campaign on other sites (like Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, whatever) or could have been a "quiet" pick by Smash speculators since she's not exactly the most hype pick to rally behind (though a lot of people thought AC deserved another rep). That she got a Mii costume in Smash 4 makes me believe that she was more popular than the fan-polling could account for.

Speaking of the "other media campaign" thought I had about Isabelle, I've heard murmurs that Shantae had a similar campaign conducted by WayForward in that they went on Instagram, Tumblr, Deviantart, etc. etc. and pushed for Shantae. Like it was a full-on marketing campaign. I haven't gone back and confirmed it yet, so take it with a grain of salt, but if it's true then Shantae may have gotten a lot more votes than we're thinking.

In order for the box theory to be credible it would have to get a revision to change to something different. And honestly Nintendo has not said they’re going to do that. People have been assuming it but the box we’ve already seen is probably it’s final look. Which would debunk the theory completely.

I mean, just based on some of the posts I've seen on this site, Isabelle was clearly popular among at least some and given the type of character she is (an awkward cute lil doggo) it makes sense that she would be a huge fan favorite even if that fanbase is less vocal than some.

Makes sense. Generally when I see a post about autism, I get defensive for reasons, and it is my impression that if someone reads someone calling them autistic, it can be hurtful. I don't often see it used in an observational context, since it's mostly used as an insult where I'm from.

As I'm not buying into that box theory, which I don't think is legit at all, my stance on Shantae hasn't changed at all. Her chances haven't changed since last week. No character should be considered a lock, but if she's not in the base roster or deconfirmed, she will be DLC.

Most I could think of is Celica for Robin and Ken for Ryu. Even then I don’t believe the box theory is real

It seems that you're trying to make it out to be a bad thing which it really isn't. I feel offended when people use the word autism in an insulting manner, it's an insult towards me and so many others. There is nothing wrong with being autistic. We are intelligent, normal, funny people, there's not much of a difference between us and others, besides a couple of shortcomings.

Huh? That some serious stuff you're saying here. And yet it does make sense as to why WF is under an NDA, if that was the case. Just by their Twitter and Kickstarter by themselves, it wouldn't have been a big blot. But factor everything in there, alongside knowing that Matt Bozon's trying to get dA to stop being *****, gives this theory slightly more credibility, though I don't think I'll be a feverish subscriber until I see more outward evidence.
