While I'm not surprised, I am a bit disappointed that we won't get to see a codec/Palutena's guidance crossover. But one can dream and I ain't giving up hope yet.

I am not to worried. I think they are just waiting to show off all the characters(Or at least most of them) before calling in the codecs. You know how careful Sakurai is when it comes to keeping such a big secret, and there is more than enough time left to record all the needed lines.

If anything, there is a chance that he "lied" in that while he's not necessarily telling the truth, he's mainly doing it to mitigate possible NDA violations. And that he may have recorded new Codex entries for the newer fighters and possibly rerecorded the older ones to better reflect the prospect from 10 years ago. Come to think of it, I hope that Palutena can record new Palutena Guidances. I doubt that there would be too much rerecordings, but it's entirely possible with Sakurai's Donkey Kong-like Determination.

Funny, maybe. But I don't think Shovel Knight should be a footstool. That's asking for trouble with the fans. (Also degrading since he's an AT.)

Shantae can be friendly with almost everyone, and the worst they usually do is just get on her nerves sometimes. Even Ganondorf could be seen as having a softer side if she could get him talking.

The only exceptions are Metroid villains Ridley and Dark Samus. The former is much like the Pirate Master in having commited atrocities that changed the protagonist's life and reveling in it, only lacking the raw magical potential (yet he's more adept at cheating death!). The latter is power-hungry creature impossible to reason with, and probably would like nothing more than convert the rather easily corrupted genie half of Shantae to her side.

Found them. Pretty neat, though any official one will likely be a bit different. I do hope that Shantae does poke her head in on the Palutena's Guidance one though, like Chrom did.

And personally I think it's possible the interview was before they got contacted. I don't believe all decisions for the game are made only at the beginning of design, I think that's just for the base stuff.
