i went to the previous streetgeek, i did play in the smash ffa so yeah. Considering the previous lan was like 3 weeks before i didnt want to go to another one so soon.

I lost to some nubs in the ffa. This was because i had a bad controller and tap jump was on (i thought it was an good handicap, but i was wrong) Never play snake with tap jump on. It makes doing u-tilt very hard and frustrating. One time i went to u-tilt and ended jumping into zelda f-air lol.

Dunno when this might be but I'm hoping it can be this coming tournament.

Well I was aiming for May/June.
At the moment it's looking strongly like May 14th tourney.

I'm not that much into Smash these days I actually just want to take my fiance and my daughter on a small trip but I figured while I'm visiting another state I might as well check out the Smash scene. I think I've only ever met Nova, DJB and Apollo but I heard the Melee scene is awesome.

Yeah as for our Melee scene, that was before my time and I've never seen it played at an Adelaide tourney since like, umm, whenever my first tourney (oh right, the day my dad died); early last year.
And it wasn't played then either.
I have no idea what happened to it - which is a shame 'cause I do wanna learn it better than my current horrible ability.

Melee used to be huge but all the Melee playrs hate brawl and dont come to tourneys anymore
Im gonna try and get the old melee crew back for reloaded.

I'm talking just 1 V 1.
They have a FFA tourney (ugh) on Friday night.
No doubles.
Then singles 11am on Saturday.
The last single event I participated in, me and Apollo were in the finals (a grand 8 people) and we had to finish the set early because some church woman wanted to play the piano. -_-
I don't know, all I can say is there's a reason I travel out of state a lot.
Although whoevers idea it was to completely drop Melee, when SA actually had a thriving scene (Brawl and Melee can and do work together in other states....) is an idiot.

I'm not sure what the schedule is for the event you're planning to attend (Jamage?), but to be blunt I wouldn't even bother if you're going (to the lan, not the city ) for smash alone.
Like, I did that, for a bit, then just got tired of it.

I am sorry about that Jei, but if it's mostly just for Smash, I'd honestly recommend the ACT over Adelaide (and they do have a tourney that I can vouch for being awesome) on the 9th of May.
I feel like such a jackàss but Adelaide literally does have the worst smash scene (especially in terms of communication) in Australia.
If you have already booked though I'll try my absolute hardest to get some attendance from people like djb/ant Apollo & Eagle + doubles, but every other time I've tried I've failed and I really doubt it'll be different *sigh*.

But if you HAVEN'T already booked; I'd definitely consider ACT over SA.
Just my 2cents.

Well, Nova pretty much summed out the reality of things. But perhaps you could be a little more optimistic, Adelaide certainly won't change for the better with the way things are.

It's nice that you're thinking of coming by Jei! SA does have a fair few things to do if you appreciate culture and history. Barossa Valley is an awesome place if you're interested in that sort of thing. There is also some pretty good stuff in the city, the museum is great and depending on how old your daughter is the zoo is also awesome.

If you're still thinking of spending saturday midday/afternoon playing smash, I'd be more than happy to come and make you feel more welcome. There won't be much competition, but hopefully Jamage could shift the FFA closer to the singles and doubles to make things more convenient. We just recently pushed singles to saturday because Nova and I hated starting at 10.00pm and playing until 12-1am

Also, our Smash Scene's communication would be demonstrated by the amount of backlash I'll cop for actually doing that (basically telling someone not to bother and go elsewhere).
That's right, basically none.

My other suggestion was to just have a meet at your place Apollo but I wouldn't be able to make it and ACT has a tourney and stuff and I can hardly just throw that at you without asking.
ACT is just a flat out better option for Jei in this case.

There are alot of people at streetgeek that play brawl but alot of the lesser players wont enter all the time either coz of never winning or they may be entering a PC comp they have more chance in winning. We easily have 20+ smashers every evernt just not everyone enters the 1v1.

Brawl killed Melee over here for some reason. Melee was going strong with 32+ tournaments here then most people just seemed to give up on brawl and even stop playing melee, out of the top 10 players im the only one that still comes, im gonna try and get all the old Melee dogs back for relaoded. 2SXC/Possum/SA Dave is already in.

Nest Streetgeek we should be able to sqeeze in a 2v2 aswell.
