Bomberman may be another input, if it means trying to follow the less realistic standards.I hope Simon Belmont will one day be confirmed as a playable character in SSB4 or a future Smash game.

They remind me of the Subcon people from Super Mario Bros. 2.
Sonic had his time to shine in Brawl. Time to move on and let some other 3rd party guest take the spotlight.Solid Snake had his time to shine in Brawl. Time to move on and let some other 3rd party guest take the spotlight.
Sonic deserves the return way more though. Boy do I need to rethink about what I put down...Sonic had his time to shine in Brawl. Time to move on and let some other 3rd party guest take the spotlight.
Oh wait...
I think both Sonic and Snake deserve equally to return. Anyone who thinks otherwise is biased and has a double standard regarding the veteran 3rd parties.Sonic deserves the return way more though. Boy do I need to rethink about what I put down...
Its always interesting when a character confirmation sparks a character debate (with now Sonic's confirmation leading to debates about Snake, and to a lesser extent, Pac-Man).
Makes me shudder what will happen next week when we get a Pokemon confirmation.
All topics ultimately steer towards Fire Emblem.Somehow it would lead into Fire Emblem. But I'm just taking a shot in the dark with that.
Villager /Discussion.Moar Balloon Fighter discussion!!!
Okay, we got Mega Charizard X (which looks awesome, by the way).
What will be Pokémon Trainer's Final Smash then?
I don't think it'll change, I think at best Charizard gets an alternate costume for both forms.Okay, we got Mega Charizard X (which looks awesome, by the way).

THIS. I'd love to see the same with the others... assuming they get alt. forms in X.I don't think it'll change, I think at best Charizard gets an alternate costume for both forms.
omg that pic is so cute and I think I see 6 pokemon (also the genie from Aladdin .... that can't be right )I wanted to post this up. It's a wall of artwork at my elementary school. Can you spot the two Pokemon with the most artwork?(including mega forms)
I haven't seen him comment for two or three days by now, I don't think he's on atm. Which is only for the better considering who's day it is on RtC.We need more old Impa discussion.
On a side note, I'm surprised that Diddy hasn't shown up on Rate Their Chances yet.
Is it just because I'm too obsessed or did you make that nod to Ridley purposely? If Sakurai is willing to blow both the most wanted newcomer and the most wanted character, period, within four months of the game's reveal, I'd be shocked if he didn't have more waiting in the wings for the remaining year or more to come.
He has good chances, but most people prefer Snake as the 4th third party (Assuming Pac-Man, Sonic, and Megaman are confirmed)What do you guys think the chances for Professor Layton are? I haven't heard any discussion about him making it in.
I'm not sure how good his chances are but I for one would definitely be super excited if he was confirmed to be a playable character. If you have seen my reaction when Toon Link was confirmed to return. Multiply that by 2 when Mewtwo is confirmed to return as well and multiply that by 5 if Professor Layton is confirmed to be playable for the first time. That's how excited I would be. He's practically one of my most wanted newcomers for Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS.What do you guys think the chances for Professor Layton are? I haven't heard any discussion about him making it in.

It would be great if he was revealed as promotion of the European or American release of Azran Legacy or the Phoenix Wright crossover, but that's probably just a pipe dream.
But in terms of his chances. He was requested to both Sakurai and Hino during a talkshow and Hino is more than happy to have him in Smash Bros, so.... make of it as you will.....
After seeing Villager and Wii Fit Trainer join the battle. I doubt Sakurai really cares too much about how gentle a character is or not. Besides, Layton has done more fighting than either of those two ever did.I've only played a couple of Layton games, but I think as a smash character he would fit right in. There's lots of room for creativity with his moveset, and who doesn't like a guy in a top hat? Although one issue might be that Layton's character is too gentle (or gentlemanly) to be in smash. But that didn't stop Sakurai from putting Lucas in

Ooh, that's a toughie.Agumon or Leomon.
Like cutting one clone (Young Link) for another clone? (Toon Link)Ooh, that's a toughie.
But I'd still not want Snake bumped out even for either of them.
I'd rather have no cuts if possible, let alone cuts specifically to have someone else.
I see Toon Link as pretty much an updated Young Link, so I don't really care about that.Like cutting one clone (Young Link) for another clone? (Toon Link)

If you're a girl, have my babies. If you're a guy, we can share the most bromantical hug the internet can provide. As far as Snake is concerned, he got in through Sakurai's criteria for a playable spot. Needs to be able to draw people to the game, add to balance of the roster, has to fit in the style, etc...
If SAKURAI thinks that Snake fits, then he fits. Just because some people don't think so doesn't mean it's fact. If Sakurai thinks he fits, then he fits. Therefore, the argument that he doesn't fit the style is moot. Not to mention, Snake wouldn't fit into anything else as far as Fighting games. I don't even know if there is going to be a PSASBR 2 at all. That game did awful (side note, it had like 5 3rd party characters too, in a roster of like 24. Pretty bad compared to smash)
Snake being announced for Brawl sent shockwaves through gaming communities everywhere. He was the first 3rd party character ever in a Smash Bros. game, one that nobody would expect. It was even possible that he would've been the only one, without even Sonic at all. Snake definitely has the ability to get people playing the game, and pick him to boot.
Series balance? I'd say 4 3rd parties in a game with a roster of 40-50 is fine. Especially when Playstation All-Stars had Raiden, Big Daddy, Dante, Isaac Clarke, and Heihachi in a roster of like 24 counting DLC.
Snake is in my opinion of Legendary gaming status. Solid Snake is not just some character. He is an incredibly iconic character from a hit series that has been around for many years. Really, I think if Hideo Kojima created Super Meat Boy, and he asked Sakurai, Sakurai would've shot him down. Snake is a legend, which is why I believe Sakurai allowed it in the first place. Not to mention, Nintendo trusted him with that decision, and the circumstances aren't all that different now than they were back when Brawl was in development.
Metal Gear Solid had a remake of Snake Eater on the 3DS. While it did not do too well, it is at least an appearance of Snake (or Big Boss) on a Nintendo console, which he already had in the critically acclaimed Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes on the Gamecube. ( this is all in addition to the NES game)
Not to say he has no negatives, but the negatives aren't as major as many think.
I think both Sonic and Snake deserve equally to return. Anyone who thinks otherwise is biased and has a double standard regarding the veteran 3rd parties.
If it weren't for Snake, I don't think Sonic would have appeared in Brawl either. Snake opened the way to 3rd party characters in Smash and what caused most people request Sonic. The game was even delayed because of him.
Also, Snake has one of the most unique movesets of the entire Smash Bros. series alongside Olimar and newcomers Villager and Mega Man. It would be unfortunate if we were to lose such a character.
