Honestly guys, you guys might want to stop hoping so much for the newcomers. Let's be realistic here.

TGS happened, nothing happened
Multiple directs happened, nothing happened. (Old veterans but yeah)
Gamescom happened, nothing happened
PAX PRIME freaking happened, and people who worked on the game were actually there, and guess what? Nothing happened there either.

Asides from Directs and PAX East, there's not that much big between now and the next E3. I'm not saying expect no newcomers, I'm just saying some realism is good.

My Internet connection was crappy at best. I saw stuff about Pikmin 3 DLC, EShop games, and maybe a JRPG (?).

What was the Sonic reveal like? What else was revealed besides a new Kirby game?

Zelda is gonna be less linear (so its going to be like the first one)
and some Japanese RPGs not much else

Sonic looks like hes going to have all his old moves (or at least most of them) and has a new level based on Lost World

Nope Sonic is simply the first character confirmation of October.

We still have a Pokemon veteran (Mewtwo included) that could be confirmed next week.

We also have the possibility that Mii may be confirmed during the last week of October to tie in with Wii Party U.

Or, alternatively, they're saving up newcomers for E3, which wouldn't surprise me in the least considering how much of a big hitter someone like Ridley or Mewtwo would be. We always have that chance of seeing Mewtwo in time for X&Y, though. He's not a newcomer, but his absence in Brawl basically behaves like he'd be treated like a newcomer.

Also, new Kirby game guys. Anyone think it's going to boost the chances of a fourth Kirby character? Preferably a certain Dee with a bandanna?

I very much doubt it. Kirby's got its essential characters, it doesn't need any more attention compared to other series. Plus we don't even know if Bandana Dee is going to have a role this time.

Pretty much what I was thinking. Hell, they could dump the whole roster on E3, and based from what I've seen on twitter, it's not unlikely. We could at least have our starting roster by then. They're saving up for E3/when the game comes out, I feel that. (And con's next year)

Possibly. Waddle Dee or Daroach (If he appears in this one as well) isn't out of bounds yet, but I'm just not gonna get too high on supporting characters. I've got almost no faith left in that. It's looking more and more possible for SMash 5 though.

However, I am very happy about Sonic's confirmed return. He was one of my most wanted characters for Brawl.

Its really amusing how two of the last four characters added to Brawl pretty much got confirmed back to back.

Sure lots of people were expecting him back, but he was a character that could plausibly have ended up being cut.

We also now have two possible months for a Zelda confirmation (ALBW is releasing in December in Japan).

It shouldn't be surprising Nintendo is stepping it up (heheh) during the holiday season with its promotional tie-ins. Doesn't mean the pace will last.

No. I expect probably a Pokemon next week, and then probably 2 - 3 week space between reveals, and then a giant gap of nothing, just like we had for Brawl.

I had a history exam that day that I knew absolutely nothing about, and of course the Sonic announcement didn't make that test any easier.

Somehow I BSed my way to an A though. Not sure that professor actually read my essay. But **** Yeah! Sonic!
