I find that to be quite doubtful, as if anything, we'll probably just get information on the games that'll be released before 2013 is over. Even today's screenshot of the day is nothing too special.

Even if there's a character reveal, or a newcomer trailer for that matter, I doubt it'd be Ridley. Little Mac has an anniversary this month, Miis have a game coming out this month (which will surely be something they'll be talking about,) and Pac-Man also has a game coming out soon. Furthermore, there's not gonna be anything Metroid in this Direct, so it's very doubtful that even if there's anything character related that it would be Ridley.

Really happy to see Sonic return for Smash 4. He really deserves it. Yet another Brawl veteran with iffy chances of returning has been confirmed.

I'm really happy that Sonic has returned personally, as well as for all the Sonic fans that fought hard for his return.

He may not be a Nintendo character, but he is certainly one in spirit, and he is one of the most iconic video game characters ever.

Some people thought that Sakurai may not bring previous guests back. Guest character don't really have a good track record of returning in fighting game.

I was expecting Sonic to return though, especially after a higher up's comment about Sonic possibly being in Smash 4. That and Sonic was actually demanded to return.
