Who could/ would possibly vote for mega man?

Mega Man really confuses me.

I mean, at least for the females in the poll + Chrom, it could be explained by a member who wants to vote for more females + a recent character (could be a Roy detractor trying to bring him down through cheating for all we know). For Mega Man, I'm not really sure what's going on. It's very normal for Mega Man to be receiving a ton of vote, but not at the magnitude he's getting.

I think you're overthinking it. People probably just like normal.

I would say that I would remove four characters from the roster (Pokemon Trainer, Lucario, Snake and Sonic) and introduce at least 18 new characters to the roster, brining in a total of fifty.

In terms of Mario characters, I would choose Bowser Jr., simply because he would fit well as a villain and we could have the Shadow Mario transformation with Down B. Also we need more villains and females.

Mario Sub-Series, King K. Rool. Nothing needs to be said about him.

Zelda, put Ghirahim because he was a memorable villain and he would be a perfect fit for Smash as he could be fast and deadly with his rapiers.

Metroid-Wise, I am sorry to say, but I want Rundas from Metroid Prime 3 more than Ridley. Why Rundas? Because he was a very memorable character in the Prim trilogy, he could have a good set of moves and there are barely any characters interested with ice.

Kid Icarus, put Magnus and Palutena since both are quite popular in the Kid Icarus series and Palutena could bring in more female characters into the roster.

No Kirby Characters I'm afraid, I think that's about it for the franchise. But below them, I would like to see Issac/Matthew and Shulk in the roster since they are very popular in Nintendo

Star Fox, very simple, put Krystal. Since she would be very unique for the game by using her staff.

Pokemon, I know that Zoroark would be appearing, but the character I want to see is May. Simply because she would fit in as a female and that she could represent Hoenn. Pokemon, very simple: Mudkip, Grovyle and Blaziken.

No more Mother characters since that about it for the series. Fire Emblem wise, put Chrom in since he would be very likely.

For F-Zero, maybe Samurai Goroh, or maybe none since F-Zero has been dead since 2003.

Other or Retro Nintendo series, very simple: Little Mac and Takamaru, since they are very popular nowadays and they could represent West V.S East. I'm not so sure about Dillon, but if he replaces either Olimar or R.O.B, then fine for me.

Finally, Third-Party. Take out both Snake and Sonic since they were requested and put in four new Third-Parties. Travis Touchdown would be perfect since he could replace Snake and bring in a whole new set of moves with Beam Katana and wrestling moves. Second, Lloyd Irving with his popularity and the fact that he is from a Namco game and that Bandai Namco are developin Sm4sh. Lastly, Megaman and Bomberman, since both have has a long history woth Nintendo back in the old days and there was a speculation with a Capcom character being in Sm4sh.

Then again, that's about it.

Well, I would be fearful for K Rool too. If there's only going to be one addition, in my mind we already know who Sakurai's been thinking about.

While it's true K. Rool hasn't "knowingly" been considered and Dixie has, at least in a partnership role, I'd say this doesn't really give any credence one way or another to the theory that Dixie has preference.

They're going to at least take notice to the fact that K. Rool has a great deal more popularity than Dixie does on all sides, and possibly to a lesser extent that Dixie has various incarnations she could be introduced with. (She could be by herself, be partnered with Kiddy, and (VERY unlikely) partnered with Dixie. K. Rool however has a much simpler design structure and is easier to place. However, none of this really matters to the current discussion.

The point I'm mostly trying to make is that it doesn't make much difference, because remember that nearly implemented for SSB, but was cut along with Bowser and Mewtwo. Both of those made it into Melee, but Dedede, Sakurai's own creation didn't.

I know he had some reasons for this, but Meta Knight was the first new Kirby character revealed for Brawl, and since we've discussed how DK easily deserves 4 characters, I really don't see how it's much of a stretch to imagine K. Rool being shown first (Given how much he's requested, he's a good hype builder.) Besides, I don't expect Dixie to be anything more than a Luigi-fied clone of Diddy, (I'd still love and play her) and those characters are NOT hype builders, and are with good reason included as unlockables.

I think we'll get both King K. Rool and Dixie Kong. King K. Rool is likely the most wanted Nintendo newcomer (internationally speaking) that is a very important part of the Donkey Kong franchise (only ones more important are DK and Diddy and they're already in). Dixie Kong has the advantage of being considered as a playable character, although she's not nearly as requested as King K. Rool (mainly in the West) and while important, is a step down from the King himself.

If there were to be one, it'd probably be King K. Rool, although Dixie Kong getting prioritized over K. Rool is a possibility.

Hit the nail right on the head. At this point, I consider Dixie semi-likely, but not because Sakurai has planned her for a Brawl duo. If that's our only criteria for likelihood, we ought to bump up Toon Zelda from the 'dark horse' category, as well as start considering Urban Champion, Bubbles and Balloon Fighter, since thought was put into potential movesets for them as well. Plus, as we say so frequently, anyone can get a moveset, albeit some far more easily than others.

I think the odds of DK getting no newcomers at all are higher than those of us getting Dixie before K. Rool.

I honestly don't think they are gonna make a Diddy and Dixie tagteam anymore. It's far more likely they'll split up characters, than couple them at this point. At least, that's what I think.

I think they'd do more their best to fit Dixie into the tagteam if they really wanted to do it. And there's no reason for Dixie to tag along with Diddy much anymore. Unless a next DKC game is made with them in a combo (yesplzyesplzyesplz).

SSB4 Challenge/Discussion #13: An Unlucky Number For An Unlikely Option (Breaking The Rules Just This Once)

Since its inception the Smash Bros series has been exclusively about video game characters, the Nintendo ones that is. We saw this rule broken in Brawl when two third party characters, Snake and Sonic, were included on the roster. Even with these two characters being added, it was still jus...t two video game characters and not anyone from outside that territory. Sakurai has even said for a character to be included they have to originate from a video game.

For this challenge, lets say that rule was broken once and just once for the upcoming Super Smash Bros 4. That a non video game character would be one of the guests on the roster. If this were to happen, who do you think it should be? Why?

My Answer:

I would easily pick Wreck-It Ralph because even though he is not an actual video game character, he represents one in his movie. It was popular and Nintendo collaborated with Disney to include some of their stuff inside the movie. Plus, with the talks of a sequel coming, Nintendo may want to include more of their characters and whatnot in it. Even more so than in the first one. If both Disney and Nintendo work something out they could easily do something to benefit the other. What would Nintendo be able to offer Disney? Including Ralph as a playable character in their biggest all star franchise to promote him and the next movie. On top of that, Ralph would be able to offer a very interesting move-set as the next big powerhouse.

SSB4 Challenge/Discussion #14: A Dual Of Two Looks For The Prince

The Fire Emblem franchise has been with Nintendo since 1990, when the first game released on the Famicom in Japan. The main character of that game was Marth, the prince of the land Altea. He would be the first lord to have a double appearance with the third game within the series four years later on the Super Famicom, which consis...ted of a remake for the original story as well as a sequel to it. Marth was one of the more popular characters to come from the series and when it came to Fire Emblem finally being added to the Super Smash Bros series with Melee, it is fairly obvious that he would have to be included.

While Roy was from a game coming a couple months after the release of Super Smash Bros Melee, Marth didn't have this luxury. He latest game was in 1994, around six years prior. It is safe to assume he was added because he was the original lord and because of his popularity, and he basically was, but you could also have considered him the Japanese exclusive retro character (at the time). Since Marth had no new game from 2001 to 2008 his appearance was still practically the same in Super Smash Bros Brawl.

However since the release of Brawl Marth has returned in three new games. There were remakes of his two games on the Nintendo DS called Shadow Dragon (2008/2009) and Heroes of Light and Shadow (2010). He would also appear as a DLC character in Awakening (2011/2012), the latest game in the series on the Nintendo 3DS. While appearing the same, all three of them made changes to how Marth looked (with Shadow Dragon and Heroes of Light and Shadow being very close). With these recent games, there is a very high chance Marth will get a makeover in how he looks in Super Smash Bros 4. That is, if he does in fact return.

The challenge here is simple, which version of Marth do you feel should be in the upcoming Super Smash Bros game? Shadow Dragon and Heroes of Light and Shadow? Or Awakening? Why? Explain.

My answer:

I would easily say Shadow Dragon and Heroes of Light and Shadow, since he was in fact the main character of those games and not just there as DLC. It gives representation to the DS games and, after all, they are his latest games. Unless the character hasn't been seen in a while, like Leaf or Lyn, or unless it is an alternate costume for the said character I don't see the DLC forms of any character really being chosen. Especially since Awakening could easily be repped by characters ACTUALLY from the game such as Chrom, Lucina, and Robin. This is the main reason why I see the Radiant Dawn look for Micaiah if she comes in or Ike if he stays.

The Awakening look should be Marth's alternate costume though in my opinion.

I think the Lodestar-one suits him the most. Looks just slender pretty boy to me, as he always was, and should be.

If the Memories rumor for 3DS is true, or as an alt costume, I could see classic Marth.

The challenges are just little Smash Bros related ideas or questions I come up with, and ask people to answer them and give their opinions on them.

No it wasn't.
Sakurai merely made a list of possible NES characters (of which the four he listed and Ice Climbers were a part of, but obviously were not the only ones) and cut down the list by process of elimination until only the Climbers were left.

Literally in their page in the Japan Melee website, it mentions the four he listed as examples of how the elimination took place, and stated right after that the Climbers had no such reasoning.

Actually, making fun of Dark Samus using "Dark Charge Beams" is kind of silly. D.S. has been shown to shoot Phazon shots like the Charge Beam.

Right. And a full charge shot would be "it" shooting a series of Phason Shots in a machine gun like manner (like how Samus does it in Hyperdrive Mode).
