He should play FE4 if incest is what he wants. :troll:

Seriously, in that game you can pair a half-sibling with a half-sibling that was the product of a half-sibling relationship. Not to mention all the first cousin love relationships going on in it (which genetically is the equivalent of having a relationship with your half sibling).

I'm surprised that the Mewzora discussion died down so quickly. It hasn't been even a day since the "actual" (aka intended) reveal.

Compared to Melee it was kind of weak.
For me personally, I put Melee on par with Brawl. Melee has the better fighting engine for sure, but as an actual game I enjoy both of them equally. I still like Melee for its engine, Mewtwo and Roy, and some of the stages that did not return in Brawl (Brinstar Depths, Fourside, Pokefloats, just to name a few). I love Brawl for its vastly expanded roster, its music selection, and its stage selection. Heck, I still even go back to Smash 64 once in a while (though mostly for nostalgia purposes). All of the Smash Bros. games are great. There is a reason why this series is the most popular fighting series by far in the modern era, and why its one of Nintendo's overall most popular series.

While I can say that I do prefer Melee to Brawl, the things I prefer are entirely subjective. To most casuals, who can't tell the difference between the gameplay of the two games from my experience, Brawl would probably be considered better just because it has more stuff.

And honestly Brawl isn't even really that bad. It's just kinda boring from my experience.

That's your opinion. Considering that.............
  • Brawl sold about 3-4 million more than Melee
  • Brawl has a slightly better Meta Critic score
  • Brawl was one of the most played games on the Wii for 2-3 years after release
I don't think people found Brawl to be just as good if not better. The issue with Brawl is with our competitive Smash friends who wanted another Melee. For everyone else, Brawl is a step forward and SSB4 will be a step forward from Brawl.
Good thing Smash 4 has by far the most development time and largest development team size of any Smash Bros. game to date. To give you an idea, Smash 64 was made in a little over a year, Melee in 1.5 years, Brawl in two years. This game basically started preliminary development at the very beginning of 2012, and has an expected release of Q4 2014 (so a three year development).

Think about how much (or how far) an extra year of development will go for Smash 4, especially with the largest development team ever for it.
I noticed this in my "Tale of Two Games" thread. Each game has been give more time and resources. We can expect the next game to be much bigger than Brawl (especially if it's two games). You also pointed out that each game has added more characters than the last, yet Sakurai always says "I don't know if we can do much more." I'm wondering if he;s just hedging himself. He is not the kind of guy who makes promises he can't keep. He really is an oddity in the game business.

As an aside, there are a lot of things I want to write. I'm sitting on a roster analysis I haven't completed. I also have a post that describes the issues with the SSE and how to correct it. There are only two months left too.

The only problems I found in Brawl were the floatier engine and tripping. (Being slightly slower than Melee didn't bother me)

EDIT: Whoops, I forgot my main complaint: The cuts. :urg:

I never played 64, but both Melee and Brawl are great games, but both have their flaws too.

Whether one is better than another, that's highly subjective, but both are good games on their own right.

Let's just clarify that it's not an easy ordeal, especially for a novice. It requires a lot of precision, focus, and speed in order to make high quality meals quickly. The worst part is that if you make any mistake, you better compensate fast or else you are royally ****ed over.
Amen, I worked in a kitchen for 2 years right after highschool. Worked from 5am to 3pm. I started off as a lowly dishwasher, but moved up the ranks and became one of the line cooks. My boss was a total bro too. Anyway, kitchen work will teach you a lot about proper work ethic and planning.

I actually wonder why Incest is so prominent in Japanese culture... Especially cousin incest. I think it's taboo there as well, but they are more open to showing it. I'm not talking about ecchi-**** and porn either. I mean, I've read actual novels, and seen romance shows and movies that deal with incest (Yasuga no Sora), and I really wonder why they play on it so much. It's culture I guess... Makes you wonder why it's such a big taboo in the west. I mean, outside of obvious biological reasons (genetic diversity and all that), but the West also had a huge incest culture during medieval times with the lords all intermarrying to keep the bloodline pure. Hell. even GoT has a graphic portrayal of incest.

Anyway, little fun fact. Many consider Japan to be a very sexually prude country, but this is acutally quite the opposite really. Back during the Edo perioud, Japan was very sexual as a society. Comparable to Ancient Greece really. There were brothels everywhere, dirty images were common, and sex was considered natural. Same for homosexual relationships, that, due to bushido code, were considered more honorable and pure than heterosexual relationships. Hence the Sepukku and all that. It wasn't until Christianity was introduced that Japan started to become more prude in an attempt to adopt Western ideals. However, recently we've started to see a resurging of Japan's more sexual nature in it's culture and media.

The things you learn from Samurai Champloo.

It actually makes you wonder what the world would be like had Christianity never happened...

Also, that moment when you realize that TTGL has homosexual undertones given the nature of its influence.

You've never played 64?!?

GO PLAY IT NOW!

I don't care how but you have to play 64. It really is a different experience from the latest 2, and imo a better game than Brawl from a gameplay standpoint.

Well... now I know what I'm going to do the next time I go home...

Turn on my Wii and buy Smash Bros. 64 on the Wii Shop Channel.

And that's one big horrible side effect of studying outside home.

I would have expected the Roman Gods to be worshipped even today.
No way, the fall of the Roman Empire was guaranteed the moment they became an Empire.

Not to mention the Nodric and Germanic tribes were moving away from politheistic beliefs into more monotheistic ideals. And lets not forget the eventual rise of the Persian Empire, and India AND China.

Perhaps Buddhism would have become more powerful as a religion/philosophy, especially considering there was a period in which Europe was influnced by Asian ideals, and it was Christianity that drove the Europeans to expand at such a rapid rate to "spread the word of the lord."

I would actually be fine with the whole world being Buddhist now that I think about it, it's a very good philosophy.

Oh great, the topic became religion. I'm atheist, by the way, but I respect religious people because I have family members who are religious (Christian).

There's a big difference between being religious and fanatic.

Smash 64 is not up to the greatness as Melee and Brawl, but its still among the best games for the Nintendo 64. There are only 12 characters in its roster, and only nine stages, however, its still a great start to a magnifiscent series. It even has a few features that never returned in later games (Board the Platforms), and has the fore-runner to modes that exist in the present (the character gallery mode was likely the predescessor to trophies). The stages while few, were all very distinct from one another (Saffron City, Hyrule Castle, and Mushroom Kingdom are still a blast to play).

There is much less to unlock (four hidden characters, only one hidden stage, the sound test mode, and the item switch), however, you will still get a lot of hours out of the game even if you have no friends that want to play this "dinosaur" with you.

I wouldn't mind if the Pokemon roster in SSB4 is like this:

Pikachu
Jigglypuff
Pokemon Trainer Gold
Zoroark
Mewthree

Here, we got the original Pokemon (Pikachu and Jigglypuff) plus major characters from post-Brawl Pokemon games. Pokemon Trainer Gold is from HeartGold & SoulSilver in 2009/2010. Zoroark is from Black & White and Black 2 & White 2 from 2010 to 2012. Mewthree is from the upcoming X & Y in 2013 and it doubles as a spiritual successor to Melee Mewtwo.

I was raised Catholic, but I'm not religious in the least bit. I'm not atheist because I don't reject the existence of a God. However I keep my beliefs more scientific. Also, to me, all religions are the same. They all come from the same origins after all. That's why all ancient texts tell the same legends.

Few people know that the Great Flood story is not only in the Bible, but also in the Ancient Epic of Gilgamesh, aka, the oldest text known to humanity atm.

Anyway, the topic wasn't religion, it was history which is widely more interesting imo.

To avoid going off-topic anymore. I'll just leave this video series for anyone with any interest in History.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_iwrt7D5OA&playnext=1&list=PLBDA2E52FB1EF80C9&feature=results_main

It's very good and it'll be especially useful for those of you still in HS and having to take history exams. Regardless, I'd recommend everyone here check it out.

LOL I actually bought Smash 64 on the Wii Shop Channel last year even though I still have a working N64 and the cartridge. :awesome: It's pretty convenient not having to change cables and cords to play Smash 64, Melee, and Brawl. ;)

At this rate, is there honestly any point in adding Zoroark? His popularity is going to plummet even further from here on out and by the time Smash 4 is out, Zoroark will be barely requested. Even if someone were to argue that Zoroark would work as a promotional material, that has been thrown out a long time ago.

Plus returning Lucario instead would work out much better.

Maybe the reason they showed Team Rocket yesterday is to clue us in Mewthree's origin... maybe it is made from Mewtwo's and Jesse's DNA.

It's hard for me to like non-legendary pokemon I couldn't obtain (don't have black 2), and I didn't know any besides my brother who played, and he doesn't have one, and my internet is to crappy for me to trade for one or actually do the event (don't even have the right pokes)

There isn't a rule that says Zoroark and Lucario cannot be together on the same roster.
Noooooo.. there's no rule.... but given the limited number of slots on the character select screen.. and factoring in future time constraints and prioritization and executive meddling... well, it doesn't bode well for Lucario, vanilla Mewtwo, Ike, and Roy. JMO.
