Just little over 4 months to wait now...

With just about everything on our minds discussed, chances are this thread will be everything except smash roster.

Maybe this has already been said. But I don't really care. And maybe spoilers if you don't want to know anything about Awakening? I think this is all basic stuff. I'm not a big FE fan so I haven't been following everyone... Also this isn't really Roster talk. Oh well. Not like that's been happening lately anyway.
I REALLY hope Marth has his Awakening gear. As well as Roy if he returns. But if that happens... What about Ike? Doesn't he not have an arm? How will that pan out for his play style?

Beer tasted nasty the first time I tried it as well.

Sometimes it has to be an acquired taste. I eventually found a kind I liked and after a while was able to drink other beers

Mostly I drink cocktails. Mostly whiskey and coke. Also AMF is my favorite (It has rum in it)
I'm the same way. used to hate Beer, but now it's fine. I don't prefer it though. Rum and Coke is my drink of choice.

I think Ike will be using his Radiant Dawn style. It suits him best, and his style in Smash as well. There's hoping he'll also use axes though. That'd be wicked. :ike:

I'm still wondering if Ike lost an arm as well in his redesign. The perspective is really weird. I can sorta see it if the sword has no cross guard (which looks weird), as you can see the grip, the gap between the blade and his hand(?). Although the armour on his left arm seems to be different than on his right. But iirc, in game, Ike uses his sword normally, he does not have a sword arm. Although, I'd appreciate it if someone can confirm this.

But anyway, I'd love it if the FE reps use their Awakening designs. Although I'm not too fussy when it comes to appearances, it would still be nice. But Ike using an axe would be sick!

Oh and on the drinking subject, lol, I don't really like the thought of drinking. I'm not too fond of wine, but grandmother said something like, "maybe you'll grow to like the taste when you're older". To which I'm like, "I certainly hope not". But I find it so embarrassing when I eat dinners at relatives. All the adults (exculding me) drink wine while I'm drinking apple juice. :p

I always just assumed it was just a perspetive angle why Ike's arm looks like that. Does anyone have a Japanese copy to verify his arm loss???

As for drinking im really not much of a drinker even though im 20, i'd prefer Juicy E. Juice over whisky or vodka.

I don't plan on drinking when I turn 21, and lots of water for me too. Now that I have a water bottle again...

Ike's picture is odd, but I can see his hand. it doesn't really look right to me because that would mean his arm would have to be extended and if it was, the sword should be behind his leg. Otherwise it seems like he's bending his arm in, but it looks out stretched.

Geez, what's with all you wet blankets.
I don't plan on drinking because I have impulse control problems, so I'm worried that if I started I'd become an alcoholic. Yeah, I know it's a bit paranoid of me, but I'm paranoid about everything.

I highly doubt ike lost his arm. He appears to be a young adult in Awakening; So if he supposedly lost his arm while he was a young adult, how does he have both arms in radiant dawn as an older adult???

if he did loose it, it looks like at some point he finds it and manages to reconnect it back to his nervous system. Which sounds like utter whale $h!t in logic.

@ Shinpichu Im in the same boat as you. That and the fact i don't give into peer pressure so easily.

When I drink anything, I typically drink very fast.
I don't want to see what happens when those drinks happen to have alcohol....

Call us whatever you want; we're the smart ones that won't do ******* things while drunk at stag parties. :troll:

It's always some borderline gay stuff that happens at those parties when they're completly smashed. One time these dudes shoved a carrot up this dude's butt and whipped cream ''what's up doc'' on his chest, while he was passed out. You always gotta be careful who you drink around

Well, I'm paranoid about drinking too. I have low alcohol tolerance, due to health issues and all of that. But hey, keeps my liver clean. :D

Uuuuh, ok. This thread is so random, but awesome. I know another forum that I regularly visit that's really strict. Like if 5 posts are a little bit off topic, just a little bit, thread closed. No warnings. There goes a fav thread. Every. Thing. Must. Stay. On. Topic. No fun allowed. Cuz I am the un-fun bot, beep boop!

Uhh, pretty sure we shouldn't be talking about alcohol in general in this thread...why the mods haven't said something already is a miracle.

Maybe to get back on topic, just noticed in the Iwata Asks for Shadow Dragon that Narihito congratulated Sakurai for making Marth and Ike really popular. I'm probably over thinking this, but I'd like to think this is a case for the two, as well as Roy to an extent. And please lets not turn this into another annoying Fire Emblem debate.

I can tie both of these discussions (FE and Alcohol) together...

Today I played the Awakening demo and one of the content descriptors was "Alcohol References."
Having never played FE, what is the reference?

Is anyone here over 21?
Take a good gander around here, then put 2 and 2 together. You'll find the answer pretty quickly I can guarantee you that.

Because the one mod rarely comes here to do anything and is way too busy with everything else, except doing his job.

Yeah I'm wondering about that too. Surely they got more popular from their inclusion in Smash?

I'm also wondering if, lets say, an original FE game that starred Marth was release worldwide, would the North American sales of Shadow Dragon be higher? I'm just curious as to why, out of all the FE games that were release in North America, Shadow Dragon sold less copies than compared to Japan. Yet, every other game sold more. Ah well, I'm just curious. :p

Anyway since no one's interested in staying on topic, I'm out.

Who knows, that's something to probably ask Chrono. That said sales don't matter unless they're a massive success, so for the most part they don't apply to speculation.

As a side note, not sure if VGCharts is anygood, but I'm surprised that FE3 has sold more than FE13 (so far, Japan).

On topic... On topic...

Well let's see, recently I've been snooping around on twitter and throwing out some tweets regarding to Mysterious Murasame Castle to Nintendo, mainly to show some interest in porting the game to the west for once and to possibly get developers attention. Granted I'm not expecting much to come out of this, but hey at least throwing out ideas never hurts. Again, this is to show some support for Takamaru and to hopefully finally avert the "Japan only" label.

Also, I've been thinking of move set ideas for varies character that I might post later.

Would these by any chance match up with those great playstyle summaries you put in ManlySpirit's thread a while back?
In a nutshell, yes. I will try to do it as best as I can, but reading the attributes and individual moves might not exactly blend. The main problem comes with getting everything just right, and because of that revisions are plentiful.

Also expect some justified fanservice to be thrown in.

rating summary: this is a role-playing game in which players assume the role of a young adventurer who journeys through a fantasy world. ... During the course of the game, there is occasional suggestive dialogue/text (e.g., “your philandering is quite deplorable, but high marks on your attitude,” “noble or not, you should be wearing at least a towel when you address a lady!” and “loins afire” when a character is in love.); a few characters also wear low-cut tops that reveal deep cleavage. a handful of scenes feature characters discussing mead, wine, and being drunk. the words “ar*e” and “p*ss off” appear in dialogue.
[/collapse]
good to know!!

But anyway, lets try to stay on topic? Maybe? And about Murasame Castle, honestly, you know the song Douchuumen (Nazo no Murasamejo) that plays on the Mario Bros. stage? Well, I loved that song so much, so I did some research on it, and guess who came up? Takamaru! :D Well that's how I discovered Mysterious Murasame Castle anyway. But anyway, we need the Orchestral version of the song in Smash 4. <3

Shadow Dragon did decent in Japan (sold on par with FE7, FE8, and FE12). It did around 240-260K in Japan alone. Outside Japan, I am not sure how well it did, though I remember it begin met with very negative reactions, and it never charted so I am going to guess it did not do so hot.

FE3 is by far the highest selling installment to the series in Japan.

Something like this I presume.

Also, I do recommend playing the game if you want a challenge. Emphasis on "challenge" though, since the game is pretty ruthless with the massive amounts of enemies and limited power ups. If you suck at video games, you're going to hear this a lot.
Oooh, I've never heard that one before. It's really relaxing. The one I was thinking of is this one. Although, you should hear the one remixed by Akihabara Electric Circus if you haven't already. It's not my fav, but it's kinda funny.

I'm really not the best at video games. Although, I wouldn't mind giving Murasame Castle a shot.

About the FE sales stuff, I uses VGCharts, so I'm not sure if it's that reliable. I'm hoping Awakening will do great outside of Japan. They're really pushing for North America with commercials and such.

God you guys lol might as well hop on the discussion bandwagon.
All I drink is water. I don't even drink soft drinks; much less alcohol. Sometimes I drink milk or juice. Not often juice though. It's pretty much just straight carbohydrates.

Now what I WANT to talk about: So we have about 4 months left before the unveil. I'm aiming my sanity towards February 4th, the release of FE:A, which I have pre ordered, and I'm sure LM:DM should be out about the time I beat that game, so praise me for a 3DS. Also Pikmin 3 should provide me a good bit of salvation. I predicted this exact situation. Sm4sh would be confirmed for E3 and I'd get ansy as ****, then Id need other games to take my mind off for a while. That's why Pikmin 3 and LM:DM are already per ordered.

Negative? From what I remember it was mostly average, which is something I'd agree with. It may have been a remake but seriously why did they remove support conversations? Marth's games are the most beloved in the series, who wouldn't want to learn more about their favorite characters? I'd also say it lacked the charm some of the other games had, and having to kill off your units to get some exclusive ones is BS.

According to VGChartz, FE11 was the worst selling FE game in the US (though it only did .02 under Japan and is tied with FE10). FE12 sold the exact same as FE11 did in Japan, and with FE10-11 only selling .25, I can kinda see why FE12 wasn't localized.

It's a bit of a bummer, but oh well. I still hang the FE11 art cell on my dorm room wall proudly. I just hope FE13 does a good job of explaining the plot of FE3 (and 2) when it comes out seeing at how much the game's plot has ties to them.

As a side note, was looking at some of the sales of some of the possible newcomer IPs, honestly the sales aren't as bad as I thought comparing them to some others (Pikmin/Golden Sun/Starfy? are all about the same on sales, Custom Robo/Sin & Punishment have about the same as well. And looking at FE13's preorder numbers, it's set to do about as well as FE7.

Rule of thumb, I never use VGChartz. The guy behind that site admitted that most of his numbers are his own estimates. That site is even banned at NeoGAF for that reason.

For my numbers I use Media Create and Famitsu (for Japanese sales). For Western sales, due to how much the NPD has been restrictive with numbers in recent years, Nintendo's own financial reports are probably the best thing to go by.

Should have mentioned that a few posts ago when we were questioning whether the site was good or not.

Can see what's so addicting about comparing sales now, if it wasn't so late here I'd start to look at those other two sites for comparison.

That's not saying a lot because it's no man's land after him.
Yeah, I would say if Namco was not developing Smash 4, there would be very little interest in Pac-Man. However, among third-party characters that are not Mega Man, Pac-Man seems to be the most wanted one.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/633202-super-smash-bros-wii-u/65276098

This was a poll I did to see who was the most wanted third-party newcomer with Mega Man out of the picture. Pac-Man, as expected, was the plurality choice. Surprisingly, Crono was the second most-wanted character (especially considering how his chances are regarded by most people as being virtually non-existent). After that, its like SmashChu said, a "no man's land". Considering Crono basically has no chances for Smnash 4, basically Pac-Man is the only other third-party character there is any sort of desire for after the the massive dropoff from Mega Man.

I restricted the poll to one vote per IP address btw.

Good to know Pac-Man is the second most wanted third party newcomer after Mega Man, even if it's only the plurality. Really, Pac-Man is one of the most famous video games and video game characers in video game history.

I recently re-bought Mario Kart Double Dash (its surprisingly expensive for a game that was the second-highest selling game on the GameCube), and I like the game a lot more than I remember. I was absolutely ecstatic about the return of Koopa Troopa as a character (he was the character I raced as in the original Mario Kart, and I was really disappointed that he did not make it in Mario Kart 64). I waited a good seven years for his return, surprisingly, which was how long I will probably end up waiting for the return of Mewtwo and Roy. So being disappointed with cuts and waiting for the triumphant return of those cut characters is nothing new for me.

On a sidenote, I forgot how adorable Toadette is/was. She may have been an original character created just as a partner for Toad, but they did a good job with her. However, like K. Rool and Dixie Kong, her last appearance in a game was Mario Super Sluggers, which was released all the way back in 2008. She will probably come back for the Wii U Mario Kart though.

Overall, I think Double Dash was pretty underrated as far as Mario Kart games go.

Ike confirmed for Guts.

Just attach an arm-cannon to his missing arm and let him swing his sword as if it were a hunk of steel. Hell we even have Soren and Elincia to fit the roles of Griffith and Casca pretty well... I can see it now.

In all seriousness, if you've never read/watched Berserk, you should. It's the pinnacle of Manga alongside Monster.
This is a good preview:

Geez, what's with all you wet blankets.
C'mon man, don't go around acting like drinking makes you superior to others, it's not cool. Drinking for the sake of fitting in is the worst. I see that over here in Spain all the time and honestly it's rather pathetic. People become slaves to their habits. 22 here and I don't really drink, only one cup of Wine/Champagne on special occasions.

If people wanna stay clean, you should let them do just that, everyone is entitled to make their own choices in life.
