Melee should wait til after the circuit. No point in trying to rank an entire region when attendance has been lacking in everything cept NYC. Too many people would go unranked.

About 10 people in NJ are only Melee. Start the circuit soon.

And PA doesn't count as an area. you have very few players, let alone good ones.

I think NYC needs one to. I think I am involved enough to give it a shot?
I would say so, on both accounts.

Dm is right PA is kinda small you should focus on building the #'s on that tournament.

IMO we need state rankings but its silly to go all out for states like PA, DE, Maine and such when most ppl play in NJ/NY/MD/VA you know?

Id naturally be happy to lend a hand, the only other people from the new england area i could think of would be OBM and Dazwa. The scene isnt huge on brawl currently
But i think power rankings would be healthy regardless

I wouldn't mind being a Brawl panelist for New England, if we had more tournaments to work with.

As it stands now I'm pretty sure we can't make a very accurate list.

I'm pretty active in the community and I know alot of the NY players when it comes to Melee and Brawl and who's not and who's not..who's got potential oozing out the butt...and etc...so I wouldn't mind being a panelist either.

So New England and Tri-state are on board. I need to hear from our southern region before I can act on anything.

Is Brawl also justifiable enough to have a Regional Ranking? Meaning, are there enough players traveling to different subregions to be able to build a list based on that?

theres a lot of melee players, and the circuit is goin, we have the first 2 dates confirmed with the first event this weekend.

brawl is booming in PA, its a lot more active that I had previously thought. There were a ton of new players at my last biweekly, some with potential, but what surprised me the most was the players up at scranton. They had been practically hiding because the store uses paper brackets and doesn't upload results, but theres a bunch of players up there who are all great.

There's plenty of players in PA now and the next power rankings will be a lot different. Everyone on the top 10 will be legitimately good lol, and will also be active, with good competition to see who gets what spot.

Indeed there are Woz, I know alotta Brawlers from NJ/NY that travel out to MD/VA/CT/PA etc for tourneys.

So I'm guessing thats a yes ^_^?

From the md/va tournament discussion thread

I glanced at results for a bit and made my own spur of the moment list. copied and pasted from originals thread. There are two #8's but i don't care lol

1.Azen
2.Chillin
3.Chudatz
4.G-Regulate
5.Omni
6.Plank
7.Forte
8.Neo
8.Boss
9.Lukky
10.Korn
11-15 between Chinesah, Candy, God Is My Rock , Thumbswayup, SlikVik, ChaosKnight, Jcaeser, Meep, Hova

for 11-15, its too close. you'd have to look closer at brackets and results to figure it out
This is just rough list based on results from may till recent. Most likely someone or a couple people in md/va are gonna do power rankings on our region soon if not later.

Have those people post here, as we need representation from your area to compile the Regional List.

Once I have that started, I'll start taking in applications again.

is this for brawl? i can be a "panelist" for my area because i go to a majority of the stuff that goes on here. i also enjoy talking about how good people are, most notably myself.

If you need info for DE, i can vouch for that. Us philly smashers travel down to DE to practice quite often and travel to tournies together

Philly has a total of 6 brawl players.

You, pit, AK47, Velocity, Vex and Xzax.

DE has none.

Ultima count counts about as much as a level 9 computer.

Chibo, you'll either be part of the Tri-state area panel or the MD/VA/DE panel. If you vote to vouch for that panel, you're doing that entire area, and you'd no longer be doing Tri-state.

You're better off sticking to what you know for the Tri-state area.

There's too many states grouped with Tri-state. Calling it Tri-state is even politically incorrect, as we included PA along with NJ/NY/CT for that area.

why is ct grouped with ny and nj?
wouldnt tri state be nj/pa/ny
NE be ct and the other states up there like ma
then md/va
DE is this odd lil piece of land that falls between PA and MD lol, but should just be grouped with md/va i guess

Erm, actually you're right. HAH. I'm silly.

Tri-state is normally CT when I'm listening to traffic reports, and it's probably why I thought of it that way, but for here, it is NY/NJ/PA. My apologies.

Areas that actually play together should be grouped together. DE doesn't play with MD/VA except for like one of Chu's biweeklies and a couple Crit Hits, but other regions attended those since they were major tourneys.

If anything, SoVa should be included with MD/VA. They're the outlying region that plays the most with us.

I thought the way I understood it, SoVa is part of VA?

DE has been pretty obscured since the beginning when we handled the regions this way, but if we were to group states together, DE would still be part of MD/VA.

I'm going back to my: DE isn't a state, thing. Nobody lives in deleware. Except for Ultima Scout.

But the only rankings he'll be listed on is old terrible smash players.

ba-zing.

Let's get the party started.

Follow the instructions on the first post to apply to be a regional panel. The deadline is going to be November 16th of 2008.

Note: This is only for the Brawl panel, and not Melee. When applying, please answer each inquiry with experiences for Brawl only unless stated otherwise.

Good luck, everyone.

If you're talking about the core players that go together to the same tourneys every week, MD/VA is a separate entity from SoVa. SoVa probably comes to a NoVa tourney once a month at most, and some NoVa players occasionally go down to a SoVa tourney, but there isn't regular interaction.

Just remember, distance-wise, SoVa is farther from DC than Northern NJ is from CT.

I mean, SoCal and NoCal players aren't in the same "region" at all.

I'm looking at the states as a whole. We're doing the entirety of Atlantic North, after all. When it comes to the smaller sub-regions, SoVa is definitely part of the MD/VA/DE group, unless there's some sort of alternative I'm missing? I can't imagine them being part of the 2 northern districts.

I see your point though. I'll consider it. Someone from DE better let me know which is their preference, or I'm choosing for them.

I see why you don't wanna divide it up too much. But it's hard to make rankings between people who don't play together regularly.

I dunno how often NJ, NY, and CT play between their respective regions so I don't have a reference point on what qualifies as playing together "regularly."
