Game Award Predictions

• Hoping that Smash ultimate wins some awards, especially Game of the Year. I strongly believe that it deserves it because of all the love, passion and ambition that went into it.
• I have absolutely no clue who FP5 could be. With characters getting "deconfirmed" then insiders backing out, I don't know what to trust, especially since anything could be leakbait. Going with my gut feeling, I think either Doom Slayer, Arle Nadja or Lloyd Irving will be announced for FP5.
• I would like to see a new Crash game and I could see it revealed soon due to that leaked concept art that is not from any known game.
• Metroid Prime Trilogy please!
• I don't think it will happen this soon after the Rebel Collection release, but I would like to see Assassin's Creed Ezio Collection get a Switch port announcement.

Anyway, there will be no direct Smash news, but a date of 12/24 is given. Smash will win a bunch of things, but will ultimately lose GOTY to Death Stranding or Resident Evil 2. Breath of the Wild 2 and Bayonetta 3 will finally have gameplay shown. A new teaser for MP4, too, but nothing substantial. Beyond Nintendo, Crash 6 is a thing. Also guessing Sony's bringing back a franchise that hasn't seen much action in a while, Sly Cooper.

Aside from that, I dunno what to expect.

I guess I'll make a prediction for who I think fighter #5 will be. I should start by saying I have absolutely zero clue....

If I had to pick one character right now:

Rex & Pyra

If there wasn't so much confusion over the final character I might not have made this prediction, but from what I can remember Nintendo characters are usually the hardest to leak (K. Rool being an example) so I figure if nobody knows who the last fighter is then maybe it really is a Nintendo character. Then there's the fact that Sakurai wanted to include them....and also the fact that Mii costumes don't deconfirm fighters. (and also the fact that the Rex costume was a bonus and wasn't really sold to people)

If it's not Rex & Pyra then I think it'll be Edelgard from Three Houses.

I've kinda been turned off KOS-MOS because the leak she was in fell apart. (and Sabi and Verge being silent about her isn't really that convincing)

Game Awards Expectations

Just so we can get this out of the way, I think Ultimate will at least win Best Fighting Game, mostly because competition is... lacking this year (Jump Force? Really?). I don't think it'll win GOTY, but stranger things have happened. Also, I think FP5 will be revealed, and MAYBE a teaser for the post-pass, to let us know what to expect. Aside from that, Fire Emblem: Three Houses winning Best Strategy Game seems like a safe bet, for the same reason as Ultimate winning Best Fighting Game (although Wargroove does at least have fan-support). Aside from that, I only really expect what we've been told to expect, like Half-Life: Alyx. For my hopes... I don't know, I guess a dead franchise getting a new installment would be nice, though TGA may not be the best place to announce that, depending on the franchise.

This was just after E3 and Hero's reveal, so the general consensus was that we wouldn't get him (obviously we didn't know about post-Pass DLC at the time), but Geno fans countered with the absence of his Mii Costume and the possibility of individual post-Pass DLC. Also worth noting is that Geno's want score has consistently grown - I guess you don't become the biggest thread ever overnight.

Even the most basic RPG can separate themselves more easily.

Funny, I honestly think we're having somewhat of an FPS renaissance. Metro, Doom, Wolfenstein, CoD, Battlefield, Titanfall, Borderlands, are all FPSes in recent memory that did their own thing and stood out because of that. We're long past the days of all WW2 shooters and all futuristic shooters, and I'm glad.

Based on what I've been seeing both on SmashBoards and on other sites... yeah I think it'd be best if we just went straight ahead to the next day. For what it's worth we don't usually do TGA reaction days anyway as we didn't do one last year for example. Personally the only reveal that got me really hyped was Wolf Among Us 2, but that had been leaked hours before the event anyway.

I'll confess right away that I have zero familiarity with WarioWare, but I don't think that I need that to give an accurate rating in this case. WarioWare as a series just really doesn't seem to be on the minds of Sakurai and his team much at all. 9-Volt in particular doesn't even have a Spirit of his own, sharing it with 18-Volt. If we ever get a WarioWare newcomer, it's gonna be Ashley, and even that just feels like a "definitely not going to happen" kinda thing for DLC.

Not interested. I could kinda see the need for a new WarioWare character in general, but I really wouldn't want one to take up a DLC spot. There are simply many other more deserving first-party characters.

A Really Cool Dude

Metroid Prime 3 released over ten years ago, we already got Ridley and Dark Samus for base game, Metroid Prime 4 is delayed. I don't really see another Metroid character having any kind of chance. Or rather, I could kind of see Sylux having a bit of a chance, but not someone from an older Metroid game who only appeared in one of them.

I guess I'd kinda like him, but I wouldn't go crazy over him by any means. I'd take many other characters over Rundas.

Not gonna do any predictions this time around, since I really don't know enough about these characters.
Though on the off-case that predictions for today are still being accepted (since we weren't really told to predict these characters beforehand?), I'll give my quick predictions for 9-Volt and Rundas at 0.1% and 3.89%, respectively.

Nominating Concept: Any Xenoblade Newcomer x10.
I'll just hope that the reveal of FP5 isn't sooner both than expected and just this concept, because otherwise I'd be kinda bummed over wasting my extra noms. Though on the other hand, I'd probably be too satisfied to really care about some wasted forum game points lmao

I don't really see much clamor for him. I also don't think we're getting any Metroid reps for a while.

I think we're good on Metroid for a long time. Ridley and Dark Samus pretty much rounded up the representation the series needed pretty well, and I think we'll be good for several games without a newcomer at this point. Let other series get their core characters, like DK, Kirby, Xenoblade, Zelda, Star Fox, etc.

Not much to say aside from having to compete with a ton of other series as well as having huge competition within his own games. Looking at just WarioWare alone, 9-Volt has to compete with more popular and important characters like Mona, Jimmy T, Kat & Ana, and of course Ashley.

Want: 60%
The Wario series has a ton of potential for another character. 9-Volt would be a great candidate: his love for Nintendo could lead to a very unique moveset where he utilizes different types of Nintendo accessories. The main reason this score is somewhat low is because I want to see a ton of other Wario characters get in before him. My rough ranking of who I'd want to see would be something like this:

Ashley > Captain Syrup > Kat & Ana > Mona > 9-Volt > Jimmy T > Everyone else

Rundas

Chance: 0%
From what I understand, Rundas was an ally of Samus in Prime 3 who becomes corrupted and is killed early in the game. With Ridley and Dark Samus being added I really don't see them adding another Metroid character for a while. Even if we did get another Metroid character it'd probably be Sylux since it seems to be a much more important character in the Metroid storyline. There is also Metroid Prime 4 coming up which would probably get priority for a new rep or further justify Sylux's inclusion. Unless Rundas gets revived somehow or they make Rundas: A Metroid Story I don't see this happening with him being deceased for over a decade.

Want: 0%
I think Metroid has enough reps at the moment. There really aren't that many characters from the Metroid series that would interest me as a fighter outside of the ones we already have. Plus Sylux seems to be a cooler character both in its design and role in the story.
