This guy is who we needed during M. Stevenson's flavour! He could have saved him! He's a doctor! Anyway...
Doc for want: 5 My secondary for Melee behind only Paper mario and only just ahead of Pichu (I like a challenge).
Likelihood: 3.24 I think it seems likely that the maximum for slots for a series would be six in this game, and so I say give Mario back what belongs to him and add in junior/toad/waluigi/rosalina with him.

I already got Melee for that purpose so I want that 5th Mario slot available for a brand-new Mario character like Toad or Bowser Jr. I realize he was planned to be in Brawl, most likely as a last minute filler clone to expand the roster again, so it could go either way in SSB4.

I could really care less. Sorry Doc maimers. I found his Melee inclusion quirky, random, and humorous but I did not miss him in SSB and won't miss him in SSB4 he doesn't appear again. However, I am a HUGE fan of the Dr. Mario game and play it annually.

After Mewtwo and Roy, he has the best chances if returning. Plus, he was planned for Brawl so Sakurai hasn't discounted the character. Since we have never seen a cut veteran make a return, we dong know Sakurai's pattern or thought process in how many cut veterans he may or may not consider adding in. With that in mind, Mewtwo and Roy clearly outrank Dr. Mario. I don't see Sakurai adding three cut veterans. Especially since he has been reported to say that the roster wont be the biggest focus this time around.

Him and Pichu are the face of the unpopular clone concept that fans ridicule.

Want: 3.0 - I'm not that big a fan of Dr. Mario in Melee, but he was a fun character to use, and a lot better than Mario. Plus, that Fsmash is just so satisfying to KO with, if you ask me.

Likelihood: 1.0 - He's more than just a Mario clone; he IS Mario, but with a doctor's outfit. Because of this, and the fact that his moves are all identical to Mario's, but with some changes to knockback and properties, I don't see Dr. Mario returning as his own playable character. Instead, as everyone else is stating, I see Dr. Mario returning as an alternate costume. The only reason I don't give a flat out 0, is because Dr. Mario is, after all, a Smash Bros. veteran.

I do not want to see Dr. Mario playable in the slightest. He was a disappointment to unlock in Melee & I don't understand why he was demanded in the first place. He is merely a roster booster. Sure he could have a unique moveset, but it is more likely that he will be lugified like Luigi. Ganondorf has always been demanded to have a unique moveset that actually fits his character, but that didn't happen. Since Dr. Mario has an established moveset in Melee is is very unlikely that it will change much due to Sakurai's hindrance to alienate players from their favorite characters. Poor Ganondorf...

I do want him as an alternate costume for Mario though.

Oh, come now. With roster space being so tight, Sakurai almost certainly won't bring back every single Melee character ever while keeping every single Brawl character ever in addition to adding a healthy number of newcomers, just to avoid hurting all fans. No matter what, there will be complaints. On a large scale, bringing Doc back over a new Mario rep would be a massive piss off for all but the select few who mained him in Melee.

I do think we need the main cast of reoccuring mario franchise characters before we start putting in other versions of Mario himself. The difference between him and Toon Link is that we already have Zelda's main cast in so it's okay to add in another link that reps a big part of the Zelda franchise. But imagine him in before we got Ganon and Zelda. There would be a ****storm of complaints ready to happen.

In the end, he received a 2.35 in want and a 2.1 in likelihood. He expected mixed feelings, but he wasn't mad. Mario removed the Doctor garb and headed back to the observation deck. He did, however, prescribe Shinpichu five more nominations.


Cheers erupted in the stadium. A swordsman with a large blade walked in.

"Aether!" he yelled, as he showed his stuff to the audience. They were amazed to say the least. After all, Ike was a Smash veteran, and today would be his day.

Want: 2.5 - I personally don't care for him. I don't dislike him, but I'm not exactly fond of him either, so I'm pretty much in the middle.

Likelihood: 4.95 - Ike is a solid character, Fire Emblem rep, and Fire Emblem protagonist. He has a solid moveset with some unique moves and a playstyle different from Marth and Roy. There's no reason to cut him, seeing as he's only the second FE rep (if looking at only Brawl), so adding more FE characters to the roster without cuts would be the more logical way to go. All things considered, we never really know, so I'm giving a 4.95 instead of a 5.

I truly love his play-style, and do a few brawls with him to liven up the mood sometimes. For this reason, I hive him a 5 for want.
For likelihood, however, he is a veteran who has the largest chance of being cut. There will probably be three FE reps in SSB4, and 4 main contenders along with the likes of Micaiha, Hector and Lyndis hopefuls too. As fashion dictates, the newest lord gets into smash along with Marth, which would mean Krom, but if I'm right and we DO get three FE reps, my money's on Ike, since if he's not in SSB4 I will be in charge of the up-roar. Despite all this, I give him a 4.4.

Also, Opossum, I would most certainly like to oversee this thread as you get rid of your lorry-load of work, unless SSBF wants to retake it, of course.
