yup welcome to tournaments. people have been about cheesing moves since the first ever fighting game man.

in melee there was marth chian grabs to tippers, falco laser, fox up throws/shines, ice climbers a button grab ****, peach down smash.

now theres any metaknight move, ice climbers grab **** (but with a different button combination now lol), ddd grab ****, and pretty much still falco's lasers lol. marth doesnt have any defining spammed move, but hes about cheesing his sword length.

loL I disagree. my metaknight is almost as good as my peach and probably would be better with about two weeks practice, i just don't have fun using him. i'd rather place 7th and 9th and have fun than place 2nd and 3rd and not enjoy myself. Also the stuff that gays you in melee, when it gayed me I just thought "thats okay, they deserve it. they musta practiced in training mode for hours, so more power to them" but, thats not true in brawl, because you can do all the gay stuff without practice.

but random ****ty people who are going to get 34th place will do it first round of a tournament.

if ive learned anything playing smash, people would murder babies to get 6th place at a tournament.

But that's just you Edrees. Even if MK is pretty easy to pick up, a person is not always guaranteed to do better with MK than with their original main (except if you main Falcon like ROFL mentioned lol). I could play MK too but sometimes I find myself doing better with my Sheik or Peach or in rare cases, my Marth(who I don't use very often nowadays).

Look at Ryan. His MK is decent at best. If he used MK, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't do nearly as well as he would with Wario. Though his Snake is another story.

You should definitely give TKD the credit he deserves. The guy managed to analyze Alex's style during their set and turn things around completely. First he was getting ***** by Alex's Snake and in the later matches of the set, he started to mix it up and win.

And TKD didn't do anything cheesy from what I saw. He did abuse the tornado, which was annoying to watch but why should he stop if it was working? Not to mention, the tornado is easy to punish if whiffed or shielded. No johns.

I'm not saying its everyone, I'm saying there are several people like me. Not everyone, but half and half. And it's not just Metaknight, its several characters. The only comment I was taking issue with was that everyone chooses their main based only on their best chance to win and that alone.

TKD was only cheesy in doubles. In singles, he played extremely well and abused tornado far far less.He is quite a smart player. I still don't think tornado is **** in singles, but in doubles, its the best move in the game next to Game and Watches bucket :D

tornado isn't that bad......but I did not think that tornado matter in stages but then i notice that FD was a bad choice vs mk as snake haha FD is to big and you really cant punish tornado in that stage since is so huge =( so tornado isn't so bad ( i have to say this because m2k doesn't want MK banned lol) But I'm glad i went snake it was fun just have to re-think the stages i choose.

For further reading on cheapness, whoring moves and using top tier characters, I recommend reading David Sirlin's Playing to Win, a book that explores mindsets and strategies used in high level competitive gaming. It uses Street Fighter for most of its examples, but I think most of it can easily be applied to Brawl.

I can teach you all the basics and the necessary things you need to know to be good.

As far as being good with specific characters go, I can teach you Marth and Sheik like no other. I can also teach you Snake. Any other characters, your better off looking elsewhere.

the daunting thing is learning the game to the point that you are prepared for all the feasible things someone could throw at you in a certain situation, with any character =/

and matchups and stages. that **** wasn't fun to learn even in melee

i wanna learn marth and sheik, especially sheik for obvious reasons, but metaknight is teh cheapest=)
