Ahhhh stfu about this whole counter picking cr@p.
I can't believe I read all of that, ugh, information overload.

I don't know what you're getting so blah about CPs for, Bryce.
People pick them in order to have an advantage with their character, is that so bad?
If the character you previously used would get r@ped on that stage, then all you have to do is choose another character?
And if you don't choose another character, then you'll just have to man up and tank it.

My god, it's almost irrelevant.
All you do is choose a stage you're comfortable with or believe you have a more likely chance of winning on.
It's a COMPETITIVE game, about WINNING, and if choosing a stage with is ADVANTAGEOUS to you and will make you WIN more in a COMPETITIVE match then I'm pretty sure that's reason enough for having counter picks.
Especially against top tier characters.

And anyway, we have stage bans, and stage strikes, and with only 6 (or something) neutral stages, that's only 4.
And they're all so BORING.

I agree that Pokemon Stadium isn't very neutral, but it's still a lot more neutral than others, and I think that's partially why it what chosen as a neutraaalll.
Some other stuff, I dunno, I'm watching Bleach. c:

Things are fine as they are. It's been 5 years or however long since the whole Melee thing became competitive and all that, pretty sure that what everyone has now is 'good enough'.

Take a character such as Sheik who can ledge drop and sweetspot the ledge with near invincibility. Feasibly him doing this may have cries of lame/gay/whatever, but someone employing this (playing to win) may come out on top of someone who may be better at technical aspects, but not at adapting to uncommon strategies.
.

Its funny how ledgecamping with Sheik (Ala Amsah) is considered to be 'gay'. When pretty much every high level fox and falco plays a ridiculously lame and campy style, forcing their opponent to try and commit to an attack and then punishing it, gayest characters in smash imo.

viva la sheik

Counterpick stages make this game interesting.

peace out

Offence intended, Sheik is a GAY character.
She's just... the gayest character, lol.
Everything links into everything, even at high a$$ %s.
And in NTSC she can Dthrow to insta-death (mostly) at high %s, too.
Kool.

Pretty sure Fox and Falco aren't gay, considering they take so much time to get good with.
And if they do one thing wrong they get majorly destroyed.
Apparently being under enough pressure to not make any mistakes makes you gay, or at least, the character gay.

Peach, actually, is even gayer.
I don't even use her, yet I manage to beat people probably more comfortably with her than with any other character I would otherwise use.
I bet the same could be said if I used Sheik randomly.

Also Marth is gay, but since he can't really camp too much (although I managed to find a good way to do that, lol) he's not that gay.

Every top tier character is lame, wtf.
Sheik can camp on the ledge, or with needles, you like that.
Fox can camp with lasers and run like a PU$$Y away, if that's your style.
Falco CAN camp with lasers, but can't really run away when he's approached because he's so slow.
Peach can camp with turnips (uh, sorta) or I suppose float away and back or something.
Marth can sorta camp on the ledge, no projectiles, though, but he can run away.
Jiggly can camp, again on the ledge, or by flying around, but again she's like Marth, has no projectiles.

Also, Zac.
If you want your laptop, come get it.
I really don't have any money anymore, I spent it all last weekend.
Although I WOULD go in if you had a PHONE so I don't have to search/wait for you for 2 HOURS. <3

everyone bailed on supanova.. it was down to Bob and I this morning until he woke up on the verge of wizard hurling from tiger destruction, at which point I knew it wasn't happening.. should have just gone yesterday oh well staying up to 5am this morning playing mario party was still fun. Oh and we might be hosting the second DORF OFF (Ganon tourney) next weekend at Bob's depending on numbers and how everything turns out.

Festivus Smash

What: The first proper daytime meet at the house that Smash built in probably 6 months.
So you can get plenty of Smash against lots of different people who play boht games. Yep!
Also a game of cricket or just some kicking of the football in the frontyard would go down well.
DON'T PARK IN THE FRONTYARD! or you WILL be awarded Doyle of the Year!

When: This Saturday, the 17th, 10AM till late. I assume most people will head off around 6pm-ish.

Where: You all know where the house of James and I is, if not or you are new, pm/get in contact with me (my number is on the first page) and I will let you know.
I'm NOT picking anyone up from any stations or Bus-Stops without a MASSIVE incentive, and no group deals either.
Its actually REALLY easy to get here.

What to bring: Bring your Wii's/cubes/controllers/copies of Smash etc, TVs won't be required...I have a few. Soft drinks will be provided....but put them in the rubbish when you finish them instead of leaving them around the house >_<
In general if people can just tidy up after themselves unlike a certain Friday night a while back then it'll make me a lot happier.

i think thats it...any questions feel free to ask.

Peter has shown me the walk from grand plaza to his house. It's pretty easy. A lot of people probably already know it but for people who haven't been to bobs/don't know the way just aim for Grand Plaza in Browns Plains.

EDIT: I know this is probably REALLY obvious but just use translink to find your way to Grand Plaza/Bob's address (which I forget XD go ask him) On the site, it doesn't matter if it comes up with grandplaza A or B or whatever, they are all the same. The quickest buses are there are usually the 140 or 150 but the 555 and 111 are pretty acceptable as well. They run from Central Station onwards. Not sure about the buses from the opposite direction though.

I'll do whatever Syke/Kas/Josh/Ben/Billy/Alison/Chris/Soog does on Saturday. I believe there was talk of a non-smash city meet going on.

We went Bowling on Sunday in Sydney. It was amazing. S.D rolled a ball into the gutter and Unreon bounced his ball off it for a strike. **** was so cash.

Brycey! I still love you.

I'm up for whatever. I just remembered BB tourney is on this weekend. Hmmmmmm. Will find some way around it.

Billy I watched the Cronulla/Manly match on Saturday during lunch at Thriller.
I sad-faced.

I wanna do a report on Thriller for you guys, but that'll come later. 13th in Melee, Failure in Brawl, w00t.

I wanna make a deep post about Originalist Vs. Constructionalist smash ruleset development (coined by M3D I think) but I'm in a lecture right now lol.

But basically when you're making a ruleset for smash, you're either wanting to keep as much of the game intact as possible and not eliminating anything without good reason ('I just don't like it' is not a good reason), or making them as small as possible, eliminating many different elements (stages) to create as stable and predictable game as possible. Your idea of what 'competitive' should be what influences your decision.

Bryce, having stages on isn't necessarily a decision made to benefit lower tiered characters. Having more stages promotes having stage knowledge as another skillset to develop and to use in your favor.

But again, it's up to you and the community to decide what is competitive, and everyone has a different definition. Heck, Japan only used 2 stages.

Personally, I think Brawl should only have 3 starter stages, and yeah, having fewer stages in Melee benefits as well (prevents stage knowledge + character choice being as big a factor as it could be). Basically, I don't like the idea of having my character selection and dedication being punished just because x - character main can select y - stage against me.

But either view point is perfectly valid.

Just for the record, I wub you Sloth - I already told you about my plans! And stop ****** me, it's scary! I don't get hard over QLD's crazy antics anymore (unless Zac does it) - I'm an old and refined man now. :)

Toothless is so kyooooooooooooooooooooooooooot <333333333333333
Ashley and I literally exploded in squeee at the rolling credits because we held it in during the movie.
I don't care what we do as long as I get to see lots of people <3

But Korean BBQ is a no-brainer

... Do you mean one of your favourite ACTORS?
In that case...
Yuck.
Nicholas Cage is disgusting.
And all movies he's in are almost always Z-grade, with a couple of exceptions. c:

SEE, ZAC?!
YOU MANIPULATE (and mutalite) EVERYONE.
Even Dave isn't immune to your insanity.

You know that less **** will never occur! I held back quite a lot at Thriller compared to usual!

I'm not going to comment on the neutral stage dicussion atm - too busy with important stuff to care, although Kas have missed a lot of the point I was trying to communicate and Vyse mentioned low-tier o_O .. confused.

anyway, I don't know if I will get a chance to see you Caotic. I'll just have to wait and see
