Brawl Vs. Melee posts are an infractionable offense btw. Both are good games in their own rights :)
I didn't see that in the SWF rules. I'll take your word though.

With the venue etc Vyse, would it be better to set up at the door and get money at the beginning as people walk in. This would save the trouble you go through getting people's arses into gear everytime to pay properly. The issues we had last time were pretty bad. Or maybe do it like lansmash and have everyone move outside and file in and pay once we are all there.

Also, wandering where you get the bracket program you use. If you have a copy, can I have it or is it downloadable?

Regarding DJ's power cables we lost them remember, I think we left it outside the front of the Art's center... and it never came back. I'll reimburse him for it though, then buy a new set of powerboards and extension cables soon.

Who has DJ's power boards btw?
Bob left Tv's + power boards/cables at the last smashplay when he bailed without saying anything.. ben and I took most of the stuff, Cal took a tv from me when I dropped him home, but I didn't check my boot for anything else I just told Cal to take it all when he got out *shrug*

I guess the policy will be "Pay everything in one go, or nothing" kind of deal.
I'll use an excel spread sheet to keep track properly this time.

Matt, bring a USB stick and I can give it to you. It's called 'TIO' and every smash tournament uses it. You can download it from allisbrawl.

Paying everything in one go doesnt keep the money seperate between events though and can make each individual pot hard to determine.

I thought the paying in everything at the start meant you pay for the events you are entering at the entrance. It's hard chasing people up for money when everyone's inside >_>

Then why not set up a master excel sheet, that works out the payments, pot, etc automatically. It isn't hard to do.

Once you have the master, just copy and use it at each tourney.

Thanks for that Vyse, I think I have a spare 4GB stick somewhere. If you are ever tied down with Uni etc, I can at least help out a bit more.

J-Birds, see this:

Once you have the master, just copy and use it at each tourney.
Basically you take all the money at once, then write down where the money is for.

Just like last time, it'll be an excel sheet with formulas.

I can do up a master excel doc that can work out percentages for winnings, totals and venue payments if you like Vyse. I don't know exactly what you have already, but all you would have to do is put in the name and amount and it will do the rest.

I can also do a seperate page that can work out a statistical performance for each player depending on how they place in each tournament from here on out. Will give a guide to peoples overall position over a period of time, and for PR sake, you can set it to only take information off a set number of recent events. (ie events from a long time ago don't come into the equation).

If you can give me the bracket data, I can set it up so that seeding comes into play depending on who you vs and get knocked out by in each tournament. I will do it after Uni is over if your interested. Just tell me what you want it to show and there's a 99% chance I can code it.

Stuff purely based on data never seems to finish up well.
Also pretty sure TIO can do most of that stuff with payouts and such.

Also that excel bs didnt exactly work well last time, just sayin...

Yeh but last time Vyse didn't get a chance to set up the excel properly, which is why a master would be good, so that it's pre set.

Data should be the first option that is turned too when working out the PR. Discussions afterwards then decide on the margin of error in the results and figures. Everyone knows it's simply to hard to go off data completely. There are to many factors involved outside of the tournament structure.

For example: Jaice has beaten James, but Toki hasn't, but Jaice knocked Toki out of the tournament where he beat James, but lost to him in the next tournament. Toki won the tournament that neither Jaice nor James played in, and won the one that Jaice played in but James didn't (or atleast properly). James hasn't placed well at the last few but still has the ability to be in the top players. Not to mention that we all feel that Chris is the best in Qld, even though he hasn't been able to make it to the last few tournaments.

Information like that simply can't be dissolved out of data, which is why discussion is a must.

Thats also sort of the reason I want to see this TIO. Want to know whats possible with it, and how we could possibly get more precise data out of tournaments.

Lol we know Matt. We don't base everything off data, hence why we have the PR discussion.

We just haven't discussed anything lately =D

Meh, we don't have much stats cause we didn't have much tourney's up till recently, we used to have like... 2 tourneys every 3 months? But now we have lots of stuff to work with, we've just been busy(lazy), especially since it's near the end of Uni and some of us are smashing down assignments + Exams.

As far as data is concerned i think results and brackets are enough. Mostly just seeing who beat who. Of course a proper organised document would be useful just so its easier to read.
Keep in mind Jaice and i are 1-1 in sets...

Also keep in mind you haven't placed well since the tourney you came third in which was a while ago now, and if we are going by sets, that would make Jaice and Toki even apart from the Hotcats tourney neither you or Jaice played in. You'll do well at the next tournament though so all is good.

Anyway, will let the thread get back on track now.
