Shield Grab is an option. Also Shield drops into FAir is pretty good to. If your using Lucario you should have some pretty good range in your FAir to hit Marth with. Roll behind Marth, Fully Charged Aura Spheres,UTilt/FTilt, and up taunt if your feeling.....Devious :)

If the Marth knows what he's doing, shield grab shouldn't be an option. I'm not confident, but I'm pretty sure Marth's Fair is better than Lucario's.

While rolling behind Marth is always an option, it can get predictable. Anything else I should keep in mind when responding to this attack?

Roll
Aura spheres

If you feel rolling gets predictable, and they respond, then you've solved your problem. They're not only spamming fair now so you can change the way you're reacting. You'll still be up in terms of % since you'll punish them more with the 2+ rolls you get off than they will with the single time they attempt to punish you for rolling during their fair.

As Lucario, Aura Sphere. If you try and roll behind me, I will cut you, trust me.

If Marth is double Fair approaching:
He's dumb. Shield Grab, or shield drop to jab, jab, shield. I'm relatively certain that I can always Dolphin Slash out of the third jab, unless my crew mate NEVER throws the combo at full speed. Shield drop utilt might work too.

If he's double Fair walling, throw aura spheres, or out space him with Fsmash. Don't try and roll behind me, I will punish.

If he SHFFFairs, same as double Fair wall, except rolling may now be an option.

Of course, if the Fair is predictable, you could just jump and Fair the spot we're going to be first, tipping the momentum in your favor.

You have to forcefully mess up the Marth's spacing, because he's not going to mess up if the Marth is good.

Run into a shield to powershield it and get inside, or depending on how fast your character is a dash attack can do it (not with Lucario, though). There's also projectiles. You can use those to outspace Marth and take away some of his defensive fair options.

If I was Lucario, I would either try and through projectiles at him from a safe distance, or I would either run into a shield/roll inside him with an utilt since Marth is garbage against people below him.

no. unavoidable. fair is win. but seriously. if he spaces well and expects you to punish he can SHFF a nair and start it all over again. if he mixes in dtilts and dancing blades, you're done for with most characters.

10no's.

I would laugh if a mere projectile spam could completely hinder marths approaching game. The aura spheres can be faired or just shairdodged if the marth feels like being different. Also, after the first or second roll, a decent marth will pick up on this and throw out empty short hops or ff nairs or some other mixup which sets you back to square one. I think running into a shield would work better than dodging but i could be wrong.

I would watch out for chased Aura spheres. I'm not sure why this is, but it is not uncommon that when I chase my aura shpere the opponent will dodge it but set himslef up to either be grabbed or attacked. This is especially true when Lucario uses his B-throw first.

Wouldn't that also work with Samus and her charged shot? And couldn't any projectile be used to punish predictable fairs not just lucario?

No. As far as I know, both charged AS and BAS can be canceled out by fair at any percent.

Lucario's grab range is garbage, so shield grab is out unless the Marth blows at spacing.

JC fair oos could work and walk back fsmash almost always works if you space well. Keep in mind that Marth can outrange fsmash with shield breaker though.

Personally me, this situation sounds like one where I'd try to approach with shield and attempt to pressure Marth into the corner where he can't retreat further.

If you are a projectile camper, you can better coax him into going on the offensive, but then the only problem is you have to know how to deal with his offense...since I highly doubt a good Marth on the offensive will simply let himself get shieldgrabbed.

utilt is very good OOS. Use this. Retreating reversed Force Palm is pretty safe. And of course, Fairing off tempo is a good option as well.

Seriously, Fair shouldn't be that impossible for Lucario to get around if on the ground.
