No i wouldn't be a protagonist... i'd be a weird sorta supporting character that's mostly neutral to the general plot, goes around having fun doing weird things, always seems really happy for some unexplained reason (implied to be slight insanity) and might help out the protagonist sometimes, either by accident or for his own amusement... possibly prone to break the 4th wall...

@spam: i didn't even watch the match... was listening to the music cause it was nice... until it died...

oh and i forgot to mention a surprising and unexplained set of skills...

Not sure if this is known or not, but it seems like if Ganon is knocked offstage during his grounded down B, he loses both his double jump AND the ability to make new double jumps with aerial down B.

At least, that's what I assume caused it. It has happened to me a few times, but I was never able to pinpoint the cause until I watched my match with Virsith that Metroid posted a few pages ago.

Other than that, Ganondorf is an amazing character. Big thanks to the P:M devs for giving Ganon more depth than he had in melee and brawl combined. He's an absolute pleasure to play.

I might try Sonic with the buffer. Maybe that's why I'm bad at him? Don't know the timings yet?

I really need to stop posting when I'm not on the last page.

I second that, daz.

Buffer won't help your timings. It'll only hinder you when you don't have the option to use it. Just learn without buffer or you'll be rather handicapped for awhile.

The sonic mains absolutelty ****ing love playing him. Except me 40% of the time.
But besides that 40, so long as I can run, home, and recover for free Sonic is my boy.
Many of the Brawl Sonic mains seem to dislike him. They acknowledge that he's much better on a competitive level, but, they just don't enjoy the feel of him.

But spending two thirds of the match in ball form is canon to Genesis Sonic games and screw being awesome if you can be canon.

Fun can be quantified in funsies or funems or even FPS (fun per second). Playing against Sonic generally produces a low rate of FPS (1-2.5) leading to a poor overall average of funems. Funsies is neutral play fun. To achieve maximum funsies, you ban Sonic and play Falcon dittos instead.

I rate the FPS system at about seven Cactuars.

And the buffer is a training tool, I know how to play without it. Just have to gradually turn it down...

And as one of the vbrawl Sonic mains Reflex mentioned, he pegged it perfectly: PM Sonic has everything I thought I could want in Sonic and I find that I hate it.

You can't properly predict a sonic when you don't have MU experience.

He will get around you because he has many ways of approach, each of them not so good on their own, but they are variant, making so intercepting one isn't the same way to interrupt another, he's fast and you can't tell which way he's going when he wants to approach.

When you are experient in the MU, the sonic becomes a character with little margin of error available, it isn't hard to brush him away when you know what he will do.

In a battle between experienced players in the MU, sonic has to focus on being unpredictable or baiting and punishing, and he's very good at punishing.

Being able to cover ground and air as fast as he can, he restricts your character to a small portion of the stage most of the time, it hurts their mobility and overall freedom during the fight.

It's fun to play as sonic, because he can do whatever he wants on the stage, it's frustrating to fight him because you can't predict him easily, being a wide multidimensional character, and at the same time he restricts your gameplay.

and btw, you can't shield grab his special moves.

Sonic is a substantially worse Pichu, then? :troll:

Seriously though: isn't that what all MUs boil down to? One player capitalizing on an opportunity -- an 'opening' to be more precise -- created by the mistake(s) of the other? It's very easy to apply 'emphasis on being unpredictable or baiting and punishing' to any character in any MU. Let's not forgot that just about every character in P:M has a solid punish game. Once people start catching onto Sonic's bag of tricks, his tourney 'success' will quickly plummet; same goes for Ike and Bowser, as both has very exploitable weaknesses which can swiftly place the players using them in a tough mental position (i.e, they'll have to put forth far more effort than the opposing player in order to win).

The thing is how sonic can punish a lagged move from basically any position that he is on the stage. Mostly due to dash speed and homing attack.

And homing attack can be further cancelled into downB to make the loop thing, which can do enormous amounts of damage.

Although I'm not worried about that since ike is going to naturally be played more because he is just simpler

I remember back in the days of Demo 1 it was Zelda. I wonder if that will ever come back. IMO she is amazing on her own, and even more incredible if you utilize both her and Sheik. And Ryoko makes her look disgustingly good haha

We can't all have good match ups.

Not that I'm a zard main or anything. I don't think "blu charizard" has quite the same ring to it.
