Oh, thanks for clarifying that Kage. Hopefully being a mod won't hold this project back once it's done.
Usually nobody has a problem with pc mods but console mods are rare and people don't seem to want to risk it (Even when they're told it's 100% safe).

Hey guys. Because we forgot to add contact info to the previous survey, please please fill out this one (and ask your friends too and not just your local friends!) so that you guys can know exactly when and where the next PM-fests go on.

It wasn't rejected, the tournament happened, it's just that not many people played.. I don't think I even played either at that time since I was already playing all 3 smash games and already my focus was wearing down as if I played melee 3 days straight so ya... lol.
No, he was talking about an event I didn't go to because they refused PM, XD. They were like "It's a mod, Nintendo could jail us"

Also part of the reason PM didn't get lots of attention at Smash Till You Crash can be divided in two reasons. Dome were like "if I play this, it will hurt my Melee skill". Others were just running all over the place. There was little rest in between rounds. The Melee guys I was trying to get to play their rounds had to start a new round as soon as their ended. I also only had one setup.

I had more success with friendlies to be honest.

I don't think Pikalex expected such a huge turnout for both brawl and Melee so they had to rush the tournaments.

I wish they were smarter, but it's not like Canada's got a SOPA act on its back either. You can easily show off a mod without any legal problems since you are not selling it. Furthermore, Nintendo won't mess with a product that is selling brawl copies.

Reposting, and wanted to mention I'm moving soon so I filled out the survey for my current loc but I'm putting the contact info for my new loc.

I'm interested in applying for admission into the Project Melee backroom. However, I'm not entirely sure whether or not I qualify, and instead of wasting mine and others time, a summarized post explaining my situation would probably be more justifiable and intelligent.

I possess absolutely zero coding knowledge, or anything pertaining to programming. With that being said [and I'm sure it's not the most relevant piece of information to contain when applying] I'm very active in the Melee community in my region, and would thoroughly enjoy getting Project Melee known and spreading the word about this modification.

Since I used to play Brawl competitively as well, I'm fairly acquainted with both player bases and could get members to play this with relative ease. Rikana is the only one in my province with access to Project Melee, and even we live approximately 2 hours from each other by public transportation.

So, cut to the chase. Would it be wise to apply? I'm willing to do so, but only if other posters in this thread thinks it stands a viable chance. Sorry for the long post, I've been out of the loop for some time.

Talk to rikana. Being a solid playtester is about depth of understanding of the Melee (occasionally Brawl) metagame. PSA knowledge isn't a requisite skill, although it is useful for understanding how things are done. If you're willing to learn PSA that's also a plus. We're mostly concerned with how much you know and how willing you are to be helpful and productive.

I would try and apply again but Northern Nevada's player base has hit an all time low, with me being the sole survivor. Wouldn't be able to show much unfortunately. Oh well, hopefully the next time apps are being accepted smash 4 will resurface those who like competitive smash here >_>.

Personally I would say to just apply anyway, so long as you have the time to do so. After I posted a couple demo videos here a while back, stating I was interested in being a playtester and was looking for feedback, I received a PM from Rikana stating that it would probably be a waste of time to apply given my equipment and the people around me. I still did. I'm willing to live with the consequences and had the time to apply and so long as you possess these qualities as well I see no reason not to apply.

I'm not particularly inexperienced when it comes to the development of Melee's metagame and understanding of its core foundation, at the very least; I have a moderate grasp of what that entails.

On your second point, I've been following Project Melee since the beginning, almost. This modification holds a lot of interest on my behalf, and I would love to see it thrive in more regions, including my own.

Do applications get accepted at certain times, or can I apply at any point? If so, may I either have the link or procedure for doing so? I appreciate the feedback, also. I've played Rikana, maybe he can also personally vouch for me too.

We're currently more interested in getting top players these days, but yeah, currently, we're taking less poeple since we have a lot of playtesters. If I have to be honest, getting in without real good videos could be tough.

Edit:

We should do Neko PvP after streams more often. Snake needs more on time.

So if I picked up the relevant coding experience, could I apply to help out with that or do I absolutely need to have tournament experience?
